The first two of 50 ex London vehicles, 1001 and 1002, have recently entered service with Lothian following an extensive refurbishment.

M&D weren't shy about picking up secondhand bargains. This ex-South Yorkshire/Sheffield Transport VR, with unusual East Lancs bodywork has just arrived at the old Maidstone bus station in August 1981.
An unidentified ex Southend, Leyland Fleetline that had been another long term resident of Geoff Ripley's scrap yard at Carlton, South Yorkshire.
Certainly one of the later NCME examples, likely from the 1980-81 - MRJ-W batches. The rear registration plate was not readable behind the grimy glass cover, and access to the interior of the bus would have been very difficult.
It seemed that efforts were being made to clear this part of the yard. I can't imagine that the battered bus lasted too much longer.

Love them or hate them, the Pacer played an important part in the history of British Rail. 142011 is one of 3 pacers preserved at the Midland Railway and has recentley been repainted into this stunning BR Provincial livery. It looks great even if this particular unit never wore it during its service life!

Ex US Air Force Douglas WB-66D Destroyer 55-0392/BB-392 preserved at Warner-Robins AFB Museum in Georgia
Based on the Navy's A-3 Skywarrior airframe - in effect the Air Force version was basically a new aircraft by the time all their design requirements had eventually been incorporated
Designed as a replacement for the B-26 Invader, basic differences to the A-3 were that the B-66 had ejector seats and different engines.
Other than the intended Bomber concept, several different variants were built including the Reconnaisance RB-66, the EB-66 for Electronic warfare and as here, the WB-66 for 'Weather' recce - though maybe that latter designation was used to encompass various undisclosed 'activities' during the Cold War and beyond?
