I wasn't going to post this. I thought it was a bit boring perhaps? I wasn't sure how I felt about the shot. It didn't evoke anything in me at all when I first edited it. Today though, it sparked enough interest when I saw it again in my archives to post it, so here it is. :)
For those of you that are wondering, this is the view from the sun roof of my truck after a rain.
A Northern Goshawk's sleek, gray plumage and intense, piercing red eyes standing out against the minimalist winter sky.
Known for its agility and powerful flight, the Northern Goshawk embodies a blend of strength and elegance, observing its surroundings with a quiet intensity. This captivating shot showcases the bird's natural poise, evoking a sense of solitude and wild beauty.

Designed by Victor Lundy and built in 1962, Unitarian Meeting House in Hartford is sited at the base of a sloped park. The circular church has tweleve concrete curved diameter-line fin walls, and steel bridge cables that support the sweeping, cedar plank roof. The tent-like wooden ceiling evokes the rays of the sun.
A good portion of the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand is rainforest. Lot of ferns! The koru (Māori for 'loop or coil') is a spiral shape evoking a newly unfurling frond from a silver fern. Its shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, while the inner coil suggests returning to the point of origin.

I thought the red color of Death Angels cover from the "Veil of Deception" record would perfectly fit to the former red curtains of this stage... sadly no good quality of this print was to find in the internet.
"Ethereal friendship" means a friendship that feels light, delicate, and almost otherworldly, as if it belongs to a realm beyond the physical. The word "ethereal" evokes something subtle, spiritual, or heavenly, beyond the tangible or material. It's a poetic way to describe a deep and special connection between two people. 🌟

Three views of a peculiar connector socket... and each of those evokes something totally different to me, as the titles of the three variants can attest. And it was not even intentional at the time of the shooting. 😇
The socket consists of a matrix of 6x6 (minus the ones in the corners, so 32 in total) golden plated contacts, whose directions are alternating at 90° of each other for each row, so as to guarantee an optimal robustness of the connection, probably. The dimension of the square matrix is 4x4cm, so it complies ideally with the 3" rule of the Macro Mondays group.
For the context, this socket is part of an old electrical device. I salvaged it from an electronic waste collecting point, out of curiosity, as It didn't look like anything I had seen before. With this week's "Socket" topic, it became obvious that I could finally make good use of the "thing". Entering in a search engine some reference number I found on the object, I could trace its origin as being a "communication test device" being used by the army.
Having opened it, I was impressed by the thoughtful engineering that went into its conception. Now that the object played its role a last time, I happily returned it to the electronic junk collection point, albeit as a heap of dissembled parts. 😊
Another new artwork.
Its a symbolic series where I want to project the poetic connection between human feelings and the fascinating force of nature.

a Japanese pagoda overlooking the lake, in autumn lake with reflections with evergreens and red japanese maple trees, a high quality professional image of a Pencil Metamorphis transformed through watercolor and Ink Wash techniques, inspired by the style of Thomas Wells Schaller. This artwork showcases the gradual change of the pencil drawing into a colorful masterpiece, incorporating the fluidity and depth of watercolor and Ink Wash. The transformation captures the essence of light and shadow, evoking a sense of mystery and depth in the artwork. The style reminiscent of Thomas Wells Schaller's work adds a touch of architectural elegance and emotional depth to the piece. The image is detailed, realistic, and features a harmonious blend of colors and textures. This piece is a tribute to the beauty of metamorphosis in art, highlighting the versatility of traditional mediums in creating captivating visuals, on watercolor paper.

The black and white photo shows a solitary old man walking in the Luxembourg Gardens, very early in the morning. The man is dressed in a dark coat which accentuates his slim and elegant figure. Behind him, his shadow can be seen stretching across the ground, creating a striking image of the man's loneliness. The garden is empty, with a few trees and benches looming faintly in the background. The photo perfectly captures the calm and contemplative mood of the moment, evoking an atmosphere of serenity and peace.

I just adore these colours and how well this picture has come out. Hope you like it too.
Artist Statement:
This painting captures a moment suspended between stillness and motion, where nature's forces meet the quiet resilience of human intervention. The floodwater, rendered in vibrant aquamarine, stretches up to a fence that divides two worlds: the ephemeral softness of a golden beige snowfield and the chaotic beauty of nature’s overflow. Flotsam clings to the fence, a symbol of nature’s unpredictability, while partial reflections in the water hint at the delicate balance between earth and sky.
The loose, expressive brushstrokes lend a softness to the composition, emphasizing the fluidity and transience of the scene. The fence, both a literal and metaphorical boundary, offers a sense of perspective, grounding the viewer amidst the vivid yet subtle interplay of colours. Strong, vibrant hues contrast with the gentle nuances of the snowfield, evoking both a sense of serenity and unease. Through this abstraction, I aim to explore the delicate relationship between control and chaos, beauty and destruction, and the quiet persistence of the natural world.
2 ème journée de mon work shop avec Bertrant Meunier.

2nd day of my work shop with Bertrant Meunier.
The subject will be the same as the day before: The boundaries of the city.
The day before, treated in black and white, my series evoked the sordid but endearing of these along the railway tracks penetrating our towns nearby. With its limitations borderline, and populated objects of our waste, our losses and our profits borders.
Date, will be discussed dictatorial outskirts of our cities:
Flat, smooth metal, asphalt and painted lines in every direction,
intersections pompous and heartbreaking, arrowings rudimentary and authoritarian, facades of anonymous and ambitions as a cold blue winter sky. ...
A litany.

Dunes, Sand Storm. © Copyright 2019 G Dan Mitchell - all rights reserved.
A sand storm sweeps across layered dunes.
Here I decided to offer a somewhat more subjective view of a sand dunes scene, photographed late in the day during a period of high winds and a sand storm. If you see this as a calm scene... imaging gale winds blowing across from left to right, carrying large volumes of airborne sand, and the distant views obscured by these clouds filling the atmosphere. It was a wild scene, and I was only able to photograph it for a short period of time.
The question of what is "real" in photographs has long intrigued me. There are few cases in which I believe the goal of a photograph might be to present an objectively accurate rendering of the subject. In fact, I believe that it is actually impossible for a photograph to do that — I like to say that, "All photographs lie." Some who feel differently about this, and who hold that photographs should be "real," point to classic photography when suggesting this. However, if any mode of photography is amenable to creative license, it is black and white photography! The ability to produce an expressively subject image in black and white may be unsurpassed. And here I "went there," with a photograph that aspires not to reproduce objective reality but one that hopes to evoke subjective truth.

Autumn in the Rockies. I came across this beautiful valley full of Indian Paintbrush on the highline trail. After hiking non-stop since morning, I decided to spend the later half of my afternoon just exploring the area around this valley and wait for some late after light to capture these in the best possible conditions.
This is the first photo from the series where I have tried to capture the blanket of brushes colored in all shades from green to red. In the backdrop, you can see the sun lingering around the horizon painting the mountains in a beautiful shade of yellow.
There are few places like the Glacier National Park that manage to evoke a feeling of awe and immediate need for action within me. I have been to the park on twice, but I could see the glaciers recede further in the 4 year gap between the trips. This is just another reminder of why we need to fight against climate change, to protect the planet the way we know it.

I can't believe how many emotions these little towns around us evoke in me. I feel closer at home here than anyone else. Its like walking through history and listening to their stories. It just feels right. After walking around for a few hours and exploring we ended up at a little local store and talked to the owner and he told us about the city in it's glorious days, when all the neon signs still worked and the strrets where filled with life..now half the town is a ghost town... So sad to see it that way, but amazing to share this history with our children.
The Princess Bride evokes a nostalgic feeling in me...it was a time when I was young and also before I even knew that evil people like Trump existed but Prince Humperdink did seem pretty bad.
Chiditarod is a magical time space where all elements of pop culture share the same space in order to raise money for charity but one thing I've noticed is how current fads may come and go but the older films and references are solid and return.
When someone asked me what my favorite cart was for the year, I told him I supposed it was The Princess Bride because of my fondness of the film. He didn't understand why so many girls liked the film. I told him it was because it had everything-mystery, romance, dueling, battle of wits....what film has a fire swamp and a slow tolerance to iocane powder in the same film? Plus, Andre the Giant!
But, I admitted it wasn't a perfect film. For one, there's no people of color in the film aside from Mandy Patinkin who is Jewish and when Andre the Giant puts on a "Holocaust Cloak" it is (rightfully) scary but also black and this isn't lost on me. Why is black scary?
Anyway, if we lived in a perfect world where I was still a kid and racism didn't exist, the Perfect Bride would be closer to perfect as well.
I still really loved this cart. But, it wasn't the cynical every day me who loved it. It was the child in me who wanted the world to be a better place.
