Oddly enough, his jokes are illiberal in their impact, surly in their aspirations, hidebound in their political deviousness, and impertinent in their shrewish philosophies. Stranger still, you can see where this is going. An obvious parallel from a different context is that whenever Mr. Pelican announces that war is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength, his myrmidons applaud on cue and the accolades are long and ostentatious.

Does anybody else see a teddy bear waving at you? Or maybe an evil Ewok holding the bloody corpse of his victim?
