We wrote a guide to trekking in the Everest region independently on a budget: designthinktravel.com/everest-base-camp-trek-budget/
Dung smoke and a heavenly sunset mingle in a Himalayan village. Nepal is possibly our favorite country in the world, and it's hard to believe it's been over 5 years since our last visit.
Thamserku, 21,729' (6,623 m), as seen from the village of Khumjung. I found this peak particularly photogenic from almost every angle. The first week of our trek brought fantastic clouds, and scenes like this would change every second throughout the entire afternoon. I went with a long exposure to try and capture some of the motion. Processed in monochrome for a bit of a gloomier and colder look and feel that is sometimes suitable for the Himalayas.
This weekend my girlfriend and I returned safely from an amazing month-long trip to Nepal. We pushed our physical abilities and comfort levels to the limit, but all said and done it was an experience of a lifetime. Still, it feels so good to be home! I'm so thankful for clean tap water, hot showers, flush toilets, warm beds, fresh vegetables, and so many other small things that we're quick to take for granted.
I'm still working through a wicked case of jet lag, but was able to process this image yesterday to start things off. The moon phase didn't provide dark skies needed to shoot the Milky Way during our trek (9:00 pm was the latest I stayed up the entire trip, so it was a small window), but I shot plenty of star trails sequences under the moonlight.
This image of Ama Dablam is a stack of 55 photos (just about as long as I was able to stand the cold), taken from the village of Dingboche at about 14,800 ft. (4,530 m).
Looking forward to sharing many more images, stories, and general thoughts from our trip - I've got tons of processing to do once I'm fully recovered and reintegrated!

Late afternoon in one of our favorite villages on the sparsely populated east side of the valley to Gokyo.
This photo was taken between Dingboche and Labouche, Everest Base Camp route. Elevation is roughly about 4650m. Weather that day was extremely clear in the morning with some clouds moving in after 11am with average temperature of 15 degrees cel.

Lukla airport is a domestic airport in Nepal. It is situated at an elevation of 2846m / 9337ft. The official name of this airport is Tenzing-Hillary airport and also popularly known as the dangerous airport in the world as it is based in the remote mountain region.
Thousands of pictures has been captured here. A very beautiful spot for landscape photographers. On the way to Everest view hotel from Namche Bazar we get this view. The weather was hazy, but if sky is clear this could be the best spot of the whole ebc trek.
Morning view of the Everest Himalaya and Khumbu Glacier from Kala Patthar. Kala Pathar is a stunning viewpoint from where you can see amazing 360 degrees mountain view.

Taken on the Everest Base Camp trekking route, somewhere between Dingboche and Gorak Shep. These porters carry huge loads with only a strap of sack material around their foreheads.
Above the village of Thukla, after a strenuous climb, there are a number of stone cairns and stupas dedicated to climbers who have died on Everest and the surrounding mountains. Cholatse (6440m) looked down on us through the clouds as we rested and explored the memorial.
