Evening shoes worn by the Empress Eugénie, circa 1854, when shoes has no distinctive shaping for left and right feet. Four pairs have handwritten inscriptions: 'S,M.L. Impératrice droit'. The left shoes bear Parisian 'Viault-Esté' labels.

Rober Harling, the noted designer, produced Tea-Chest for Stephenson Blake in 1939 but this brochure seems to date from c1950 and indeed states that ‘stencilled letter-forms have had no place in the spate of type designs which in recent years, has descended with such fury upon the unsuspecting printer and typographer.’

The type face is shown here alongside Bodoni in a mock up advert for the fashionable shoe shops of Lilley & Skinner. The UK chain had its origins with a Mr Lilley in London in 1835 but the name came about when the founder's son joined forces with a family member, a Mr Lilley, in 1881. They made and sold shoes until taken over by the Sears backed British Shoe Corporation in 1961. By the 1990s this group was broken up although the brand name survives. I love the fact that Lilley & Skinner's flagship branch on Oxford St in London was "London's shoe rendezvous"! That and the 'shoeperlatively'.

A gorgeous pair of vintage GAY CRAFT classic open-toe pumps in a platinum faux leather for the Holidays next year--or for Valentines Day! From a local high-end shoe store (no longer in business) in Richmond, Virginia.

These have excellent design and fine craftsmanship--exhibiting all the characteristics that are markers of high quality vintage footwear made by GAY CRAFT.

The vamp has a neat tailored overlapping treatment above the deeply-cut revealing peep-toe--and what a great gleaming gold lining! Printed on this lining across the padded arch of the insole it says "HOFHEIMER'S GAY CRAFT SHOES MADE IN U.S.A.", and "OUR ROSE LAST" on the heel portion of the sock lining.

"A few weeks ago, someone asked me the difference between essays and stories. I replied that I see essays as true stories slightly embellished for impact, while stories are pure fiction."

Evening and night functions and parties has its own importance and elegance than others gathering. This is common that mostly girls like evening functions because of the lightning and environment.

Victoria and Albert museum, named after the British queen and her consort, was founded in 1852. It has the world's greatest museum of decorative art and design, with a permanent collection spanning over 5 000 years and including 4 500 000 objects. The museum is divided into 145 galleries and houses objects of marble, iron, glass, ceramics among others. The collection of Italian Renaissance objects is the largest outside of Italy. But there is also collections of Asian artifacts. And everything is neatly divided into collections - be it plaster-castings or Chinese art.

The museum is often abbreviated V&A.

Later this week it's my mum's birthday, so tonight was a birthday treat for her from my dad - I took her to see Mamma Mia in the West End. It was a great show, and we had a great time! I had originally planned to grab a snap of Mum by the theatre with my compact as my photo of the day - but I was dumb enough to forget to check the batteries beforehand, and they were dead!! Hence this pic taken when we got home, of mum's (fabulous) shoes and a souvenir program! :)
