Evening Grosbeak is a species whose population has declined significantly in recent years, so it was a welcome sight to observe this female with that large lime-green bill. This bird was seen near feeders at a private residence in Princeton, British Columbia, Canada.
Are we building homes for families or just throwing up shells for empty men? Remember, not only old houses are haunted and not all hauntings require ghosts.
Just a few splashes were heard from the beaver and some fishing birds as the sun set over Crater Lake in the Kittatinny Mountains, New Jersey.

Evening Rose - Approximately 2-year old female Bobcat next to a wild rose. It was great to see this beautifully patterned individual after several months. I imagine mortality is high for juvenile Bobcats, but she seems to have been doing well overall despite being a little thin.

As evening descends over the Rocky Mountains with Union Pacific's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision therein, the rumble of a train can be heard through South Boulder Canyon as they work their way up the 2% grade into Pinecliffe, Colorado. Framed from atop tunnel 29, we see an empty UP westbound oil train pass the sight of the daylighted tunnel 28 in the backdrop, then wrapping around the bend past the Boiling Gulch just before entering the east portal of the short tunnel 29.
The roar of six locomotives working their train through some of the most impressive railroad engineering for its time, the sounds of the South Boulder Creek below and the cool evening air all from my vantage point overlooking the canyon was truly breathtaking and a mere image just cannot do justice.

The wonder of watching owls hunting in the wild is surely one of the greatest wildlife experiences you can have.

Dieksee is a lake in Holstein Switzerland, Germany.
The lake is crossed by the Schwentine. It is connected to the other lakes of the Holstein Lake District (Small and Large Eutin Lake, the Kellersee, the Great and Small Plön Lakes and the Ukleisee) via this waterway. You can walk around it on foot or by bike on a 12-kilometre-long hiking trail.
On this evening in April 2025, it was already summery warm, but the vegetation had not yet blossomed.
