It was lovely to get a rare night out in my old haunt. I really enjoyed distant views of barn and long eared owls, sadly on this occasion no pics.
The curlew is a bird which is highly skilled in avoiding yours truly.
So it was a nice surprise to get a very close encounter.
Numbers of this stunning bird are sadly on the decline, so it was nice to see them doing well locally.

Once again a stormy evening sky got really dramatic, this time as I was walking down to the point (northern tip) on the central Bamberg island in Erba Park where the canal and the river come together. I had my Lumix mFT camera along, and it did a good job of catching the drama. It was a little after 6 p.m., about 20 minutes before sunset. In post-processing I took a white balance reading in the clouds since auto WB in Lightroom and the camera both failed to get anywhere close. So the photo recaptures pretty much what I saw with my own eyes last evening. [P1020701_lr_2000]

Another shot from my walk across the local fields the other evening. The evening sunlight was gorgeous.
