Members of the Shibuya family are pictured at home before evacuation. The father and the mother were born in Japan and came to this country in 1904. At that time the father had sixty dollars cash and a basket of clothes. He later built a prosperous business of raising select varieties of chrysanthemums, which he shipped to Eastern markets under his own name. Six children in the family were born in the United States. The four older children attended leading California universities. Evacuees of Japanese ancestry will be housed in the War Relocation Authority centers for the duration.

The evacuation alert came at 10 pm on a Monday night. We rushed out into a chaos of people packing and wind that kept switching directions every 15 seconds or less.
When we got to the shelter, we had access to bathrooms and a table of snacks and water. There was no place to sleep, however, except in our own cars. Lynn called around until a friend of hers took us in.
The cats adapted quite well. Little Bo assumed that she was on vacation and settle right in.

This year will mark the 10th anniversary of the grounding and subsequent helicopter evacuation of 22 Filipino and Korean crew members form the Pasha Bulka. The extra-tropical cyclone or east coast low as they are known on the east coast of Australia, was well forecast and the Newcastle port corporation radioed the 56 ships waiting off the coast requesting they move further offshore before the arrival of the approaching storm. Ten of the ships ignored the warning and the Pasha Bulka subsequently became beached with both bow and stern stuck in the sand almost parallel to Nobbys beach in Newcastle. Record ocean swell heights of 14.13m (46ft) were recorded at the deep water buoy 10km (6.2 miles) off Sydney with 296mm (11.6 in) of rain falling in the 24 hour period causing widespread flooding. After two failed attempts the ship itself was eventually salvaged on its third attempt many weeks later at a cost of $1.8 million. The 225 m (738 ft) long, Panamax bulk carrier, was then towed to Japan where the extensive damage to the ship itself was repaired. It was subsequently renamed the MV Drake. New South Wales, Australia. A particularly humbling experience to watch!

As the city of New Orleans reads for Hurricane Ida, Ken & I did a lot of prep at the house, then, as scared hurricane virgins, we headed north to our other home in north Alabama. We hope and pray that everyone will be safe from this beast of a storm that is coming in on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. We do NOT need that memory . . .
This photo is from Friday, 8/27/2021, so not everybody who decided to evacuate was traveling out when we did. We were just "early" as are scared . . .

I arrived early enough at Willband Creek Park to watch as the Trumpeter Swans were flying off for their morning grazing in the surrounding farm fields.
The droids overran our main defense force of our cruiser, and they've taken the bridge, killing our commanding officers. We're on our way to the escape pods as I speak, while trying to help as many other men get off as possible. They've taken the bridge and hanger, and now they're heading to the escape pod room to kill the survivors. They sealed off the escape pods, so we'll have to make our last stand.

From a recent whale-watching expedition out of Tofino, BC, Canada. Didn't get to see any whales (except a few puffs), but we did observe other wildlife.
Loads of little life-boats leaving the Costa Favolosa. When I took this photo I did not spot that an evacuation drill was in progress. Later the river was covered in the little boats and it was more obvious.

Eastern Gouta was under siege for 5 years, during these 5 years civilians faced all kind of torture from Assad and his forces.

Okay, it's a railing, not a fence, but the fence shot I have is just so-so, and I really wanted to end my processing day with this pretty scene.

This is my build for a contest at the Best Bricker group against Spencer Hubert. Also I know the story and fig is inaccurate, but I liked it and thought it was interesting
Also please look at the Best Bricker group and vote for who's best. It's very fun to compete against other members and I highly recommend joining it :D
