Working in what was then a ‘man’s artworld’, Eva Hesse experimented with materials that would hang, sag, or slump. Her drawings are also very beautiful, bringing together a Minimalist approach with a sensitivity of touch. See www.evahesse.com/index.php
the work has slick plastic, wrapped in cord, so it formally mirrors the black net bag, and then dangles. it has this both highly biological (like muscles and mussels) and mechinchal (teh colour, the use of found forms) effect, and i find it destabilizing
