A history of ancient times, or an abstract in contemporary light and shadow.

Sometimes the picture tells you what it wants to say. This one has deeper shadows and more intensity than the naked-eye view.

Fantasy Faire only has a few more days left, so if you haven't gone by, you should! Check out the beautiful sights, and give to a great cause. It's amazing how much work has been put into every last place, and I can promise you can find at least one sim that really speaks to you. If the people themselves don't. Most, including myself, have experienced the effects this miserable disease can have on themselves and loved ones. Strength comes in hope and unity, however, every little step getting us closer to a brighter future, I'm sure of that.

If you want to check out the sims or just support RFL and the awesome creators contributing to the cause, head over to my blog to catch a ride over!

White Pocket in Northern Arizona is a special place that holds many amazing opportunities to capture a landscape beyond anything you've ever seen. In this image I was getting ready to shoot the Milkyway and as the Sun was setting this place transformed into another planet.

This is a 15 image focus stack. That may seem extreme, but the low angle required many more images to get it tac sharp from edge to edge.

Thanks for stopping by

Thanks for your visit. Comments, faves and invitations are very appreciated.

Sea cliffs on Heimaey, the Westman Islands, Iceland.

The caves and smaller hollows in the cliffs have been formed by wave action. Some of the waves were over 33m (100ft) in height.

The caves and pits in the rocks provide nesting sites for seabirds such as gulls, gannets and guillemots. Puffins nest in grassy areas where they can dig their burrows.

The ladder and ropes which are visible are used by local people to collect seabirds and seabird eggs for food.

Mount Rushmore - what a place! I captured a panorama of these gigantic sculptures last summer. Carved from the solid granite of the Black Hills of South Dakota, it's stunning to see in person. Unfortunately, the sky was pretty flat, so I replaced it with a sunset I shot in Utah. Much better. :)

Spent the last weekend in North Yorkshire, my friends took me to see some gardens in Arncliffe. I had never been there before it’s a most attractive village many of the houses are seventeenth century.

Arncliffe is in Littondale, one of the Yorkshire Dales in England. Littondale is a small valley that runs off the upper Wharfedale valley.. Situated on a gravel delta above the flood-plain of the River Skirfare, Arncliffe's houses, cottages, and other buildings face a large green, and behind them are green hillsides etched with limestone scars.

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.

Can you spot the small silver question mark (punctuation mark) etched into this butterfly's hind wing when seen from the ventral view? Question marks are marvelous dead leaf mimics.

Many places in the world worth traveling to require a great amount of sacrifice and risk. Of course the places located in areas like this are highly rewarding because people in general are creatures of convenience. Personally I tend to push myself, but I must admit that relaxing has it's allure. In fact I'm much more acclimated to first world luxuries than I'd like to admit.

To get deep into the desert requires major off road capabilities. In addition to this minor detail, there's the fact that you're in the desert which is inhospitable at best, and at worst can be a twist of flash floods, deep soft sand, lightning storms, chilling temperatures, or searing heat at any given period of the year. Not to mention the scorpions or spiders that tend to make their homes here.

Regardless, the beauty of the desert will blossom for those who are patient and willing to explore. I once thought the desert was a place of barren solitude fraught with dead life and nothing much to see. And although I was right about the inhospitable nature, I was sorely wrong about the desolate drab barren vista that I perceived it to be. Some places are a twisted etch a sketch of beautiful formations like this seen here in the high southwest plateau.

My 3 sisters and I used to fight over the Etch-a-Sketch when we were kids and we could really draw some cool stuff on it..this reminds me of the lines that covered the screen but never ended...Have an awesome week everyone! Thank you for dropping in to 'my little world" now and then!

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" on the 27th of October is "spider and/or spiderweb". since it is the closest Friday to Halloween. As an arachnophobe this theme was not an easy one for me, for it is unusual for me to have anything spider themed in my possession. I don’t have spiders in either my miniatures or my Playmobil collection, nor do I think Royal Doulton make spider statues from fine china. Luckily for me, I have one spider item in my house that is not a real or preserved spider – neither of which I would knowingly or willingly have in the first place.

The spider I have chosen is a very striking example of Art Deco, and happens to appear on one of my favourite perfume bottles in my extensive collection. Only ten centimetres in height from tip to bottom, this is a Josef Schmidt crystal perfume bottle, was made in Czechoslovakia around 1930. Epitomising the clean and stylish lines of Art Deco, it has a clear prismbeveled stopper and a spider on web attributed to Turriet and Bardach etched into it. The web has been picked out in thin strips of black enamel. I can just picture this on some flapper’s highly polished dressing table, filled with some exotic French perfume surrounded by silver brushes and mirrors. Can’t you?

I do hope you like my choice of this week’s theme and that it makes you smile.

I saw this style as i was surfing the net, and i thought i would have a go at it! mayhap I'll make it into a series. who knows.
