Marine fisheries represent a significant, but finite, natural resource for coastal countries. The majority of the catches in some of the areas of the coast are not primarily by the coastal countries, but rather as in this example, where countries from Europe and Asia (Japan and South Korea are in the ‘others’ group) represent the majority. According to this estimation Mauritania only landed about 10% of the total catch in 2002, with Netherlands as the nation with the largest catch (23%) in this zone.

On the birdwatching side, this Nepal trip has been rich, the Lesser-Fish eagle was in our dream « lifers » … And then this 2017 March 5 morning seemed to start well, nice weather, 2 hours on a canoe enjoying quite atmosphere and birds probably ! When he perched, nobody thought we could met a Lesser-Fish eagle ! Dinesh, our guide cried « Lesser-Fish eagle », he didn’t stop to pronounce his name explaining he was possible but so rare.
He stayed a few time, some seconds some wing beats …
Juvenile, approximatively 1 year or little bit more, ssp plumbea, classified NT (near threatened) by IUCN and Birdlife, CITES II, total population between 15 000 and 50 000 individuals (2011 estimate) but decreasing quite fast due to demographic growth, pesticids, deforestation.

When launching a construction project, accurate estimation of the cost is crucial for budgeting and overall planning. At Measure Manage, we offer construction estimation services for businesses in the construction and building industry.
We can estimate the costs using first principles estimating taking into account the plant, labour, and materials to complete a project. Another way we can estimate a project is by using the client’s rates and tweaking them to suit the project and the market conditions to maximize the chances of securing the project and the future of your business.
Our focus is on precision. We understand the importance of accuracy when estimating the cost of construction, as the success of the project depends on it. Our estimates are reliable and you can count on us to minimize wastage and over/under-budgeting while taking into account all relevant factors.
In our experience, the factors which have the most significant impact on the construction cost include marketing, design and the actual construction process. Our construction estimator services incorporate all these factors and more to deliver an accurate estimate, regardless of the location and scale of your project.

I am doing a landslide mapping and volume estimation of a massive landslide event that took place on 14th March 2019 in a place named Chimanimani in Zimbabwe due to cyclone Idai. This catastrophic event claimed 139 lives and millions of dollars of property damages in the Chimanimani district. Zimbabwe is one of the less resourceful countries on technological and financial fronts. Therefore, unfortunately, no scientific initiative has been taken so far to map these landslides due to a lack of proper resources. My objective is to map these landslides using artificial intelligence and high-resolution Satellite imagery and estimate the volume of materials generated due to the event. I am currently working on developing some Machine learning-based models for this task and have presented one of the models (presumably the best one in the lot) in this infographic poster. Further, I plan to make the data publicly available once I publish a scientific paper out of it. This data will be of enormous help to the local authority to identify the landslide-prone zones in the region in order to develop a landslide hazard mitigation plan to minimize the impact of such events in the future and save lives. Also, erosions during landslide events can play a pivotal role in the modification of a landscape and can rapidly alter the land use pattern of an area. So far, my analysis has revealed that this landslide event has generated 1000 times more material than the normal sediment yield in the area (per year) and hence, has the potential to make an adverse impact on the environment, geology, land use, and most importantly lives of the people of this region.

I love thrift shops (cue Macklemore) because of this! Estimation: 15 pounds! I'll weigh it at home and post actual weight. Will post in 10-20 minutes! Ps, I saw a silver or gold brick (couldn't tell!)
I tried Coldstone's Sweet Cream Cupcake. I still don't have a complete grasp of how much i liked it. I should have a better estimation in the next 24 hours. (I get really critical at first..so i have to step back)
What I can tell you.
Look: Very cute. brown chocolate bottom is shiny and doesn't melt when you hold it.
Cupcake part: I didn't think there was enough. It wasn't amazing nor horrible. I think it tastes similiar to their shortcake mix-in
Sweet Cream Flavor: thought it was too bland. Next time i'd get a chocolate ice cream. Too much vanilla that wasn't strong enough for me.
Packaging: I was under the impression that my box of six included all three of those flavors. I was really disappointed when I just got sweet cream cupcakes.
Ice Cream: good. made me want to buy a whole ice cream treat afterwards
Whipped Cream/Frosting top: Good. It had a hint of buttercream flavor which i liked
Overall: these fall apart easily so you should eat them with a spoon. it didn't fulfill my ice cream craving or cupcake craving. it left me right in the middle. I wanted to buy a real cupcake and get some coldstone ice cream. go figure.
But...like I said this is my initial reaction. I may feel different tomorrow.

The picture above is of an enormous composting pile next to the Research Greenhouse at UMD. From my estimation it is about 7 ft tall, and 8 ft wide. People bring any soil, plants, or food left over from their research at the greenhouse and they throw it into the compost pile. Composting is the natural process of decomposition of plants and food into organic matter that can fertilize plants and soil. While everything alive decomposes eventually, composting speeds up the process because the heat from the dead material stacked in a heap speeds up the metabolic process and creates an ideal environment for bacteria and fungus (Hu). Decomposition is the first stage of nutrient recycling of plant or animal bodies, where dead tissue is broken down and turned into simpler organic forms. Decomposers are the animals (such as earthworms and maggots), fungus, or bacteria that aid in the decomposition process (Featherstone et al.).
Composting relates to Sustainable Development Goal 12: Ensure Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns- meaning that we need to minimize our use of natural resources, and cut down on the waste and pollutants we produce (United Nations). By composting, you are taking what many people would throw out in the trash, and instead of producing waste, you turn it into something beneficial to plants and soils. Which also rids the need to buy fertilizer and cuts down on consumption.

Kyoto (京都市 Kyōto-shi, pronounced [kʲoːꜜto] (About this sound listen), pronounced [kʲoːtoꜜɕi] (About this sound listen); UK: /kɪˈoʊtoʊ/, US: /kiˈoʊ-/, or /ˈkjoʊ]) is a city located in the central part of the island of Honshu, Japan. It has a population close to 1.5 million. Formerly the Imperial capital of Japan for more than one thousand years, it is now the capital city of Kyoto Prefecture located in the Kansai region, as well as a major part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area. Kyoto is also known as the thousand-year capital.

When the dispatcher gets a call from the insurance company's estimation yard, they don't know what condition it is in. On the weekend at night shift we don't have any flat decks on duty until Monday morning. Initially I was going to refuse this call and leave it for a flat deck. But since it was slow for the moment, I decided to give it a try.
At night time, the insurance company allows us access to the lot through an access card system. The catch is, you only have 20 min. to get in and out before an alarm goes to the security company and they send a guard and charge the towing company for the guard showing up. Some drivers will drive in to drop off a car, drive out the gate to log their times, then drive back in to load a different car out.
I drove in, located the car, hummed and haw-ed for 5 min., loaded up on dollies and was out the gate in under the 20 min.
Oh, yeah, took this picture before I left too.
