Taken on this past Mother's Day , I am working on a little side project and I thought my friend's balcony with all it's delicious white splendor would make for a pretty background. Early in the morning I started out quite chirpy, but after 20 minutes, the Florida heat took over and I began to melt. This project will include quarterly selfies, my health, exercise and fashion tips for women over 50, my diet and skincare routine, and general Q & A's on "youthing".

I also enjoy shooting STOCK images, and I submitted some of these to GETTY, and this one was selected.

(ATM = at the moment) I love natural products, I love knowing what I'm putting on my skin and what I'm consuming and I love the ability to heal or prevent illness, or at least lessen the impact, using my collection of essential oils. This book has become my EO bible - it gives me the ability to cross reference remedies or such that I find online - because not everyone online is really truly an expert. The notebook beside it has all my tried and true recipes - everything from facial cleanser to immune booster - all my secrets are written down - by hand. I am a bit of an old-school bird LOL! I consider this book the best purchase I made in 2018.

Various balms and lotions made from natural ingredients such as pure nutmeg and clove oils for sale at the dry section of the Penang market. Some of the brands have been selling for many decades and are trusted by particularly the old generation consumers for years.

These are for applying to the skin rather than for internal consumption, such as the spray--on natural mosquito repellent made from pungent citronella oil at the extreme right.

a Calendula she was..till I fiddled with Picasa and the selective colour button

We have had a lot of reason to use our essential oils these days so it just seems like a fitting thing to advertise:)

Of the yummiest scents, made by Sam and Kale.

I had no idea how easy they were to make until my friend Tabitha brought over her basket full of ingredients and her expertise:

Basically, what she did with us, was mix 1/2 a cup of citric acid and

1 cup of baking soda, stirring REALLY well.

When that's mixed, add a teaspoon or so of beet powder for coloring. You can experiment here with various coloring methods, but natural is best since you are going to be bathing in it!. Or you can just leave them white, or add glitter to make them sparkle, or lavender blossoms... you can see the possibilities here!

Here's where you also add about 10 drops of your favorite essential oil.

We used a wide variety today, including citrus, lime, pink grapefruit, "calm", "Christmas", and lavender.

Mix the oil in well with your fingertips, making sure it's distributed throughout the mixture.

Then spray the mixture with about 5 sprays (the little ones did lots of counting!) of Witch Hazel (Tabitha had nice little fine mist bottles filled with Witch Hazel for us to use), then mix with hands, adding 5 more sprays at a time and then mixing, until you can squeeze the mixture tightly in your fist and it just sticks together to form a lump without falling apart, but it should be able to crumble still when you squish it.

We needed to be *careful* not to spray in too much, or you get the fizz reaction right there in your bowl instead of in the bath tub! So you just want it to *ball* together, it just takes a little experimenting and it's easy to get.

Once you've reached the right consistency, just press it into molds, mini muffin tins or ice cube trays of various shapes and sizes work well, or form balls with the palm of your hand, and let set.

A few hours later, you'll have nice hardened bath bombs ready to wrap up and give to your friends for Christmas! They just tip right out of the trays (Kale packed one a little hard so it didn't come out - but the other 24 did no problem and he just brought the muffin tin into the tub with him last nigh and it fizzed out easy!).

That's it! Hope you have lots of fun with this!

Crazy Fruity Handmade Soap

This soap is so much fun you will have to get the smile surgically removed from your face! It's a banana base loaded with fruit polka dots! Raspberry, Apricot, Lime, Kumquat, Coconut, Cucumber Melon, Apple, Lemon, Watermelon… It's a beautiful and crazy bar of soap, and it's moisturizing too! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :-)

You will receive one bar of appoximately 4+ ounces.

It's good to let your soap air out between uses for a longer lasting bar. Store your handmade soaps in a cool dry place letting them breathe. I cut mine in quarters to make them last longer :-) and this way I can use a different soap everyday - yay me!

Hand crafted soaps are so good for your skin. No added chemicals and all the natural glycerin is retained. I'll never go back to buying store bought chemically infiltrated soaps.

Allergies? Please read the listed ingredients. Thank you.

#4662 - 2020 Day 279: Carolyn's fledgeling soaps business is tentatively taking to the air. Here we have some Orange & Calendula, Oats and Lavender, Peppermint, Lime & Cedarwood, and Frankincense & Jasmine.

It's still not possible for her to work in nursing homes as an aroma / massage therapist, which is her staple. She has some private business at home, but not enough. So this is intended to be a new turnkey operation making use of her extensive aromatherapy expertise in using essential oils.

This is our new thing. Vegas is having a hard time with her rear end. It's like it's no longer well connected to the synapses firing from her brain. it's hard to watch. So we are doing this once a week or so. She also goes to the chiropractor Monday, too.

It changes colour as it diffuses sweet smelling oils.
