One of the earliest MK3 Escorts I have spotted in recent times. Despite it looking worse for wear, I have no doubt that an enthusiast would pay a fair amount for the car, as values of old Fords have gone through the roof in the past few years. With it parked next to a busy main road, I can only imagine that the owner has had a fair few people asking if it is for sale, but only to be turned away. I have no doubt that the car is being kept for sentimental purposes.

A beautiful late 1960s Ford Escort Mk1 seen amongst many others of a similar vintage at the East Midlands Classic Car Show at Whisby Garden Centre near to Lincoln on the first day of August 2021.

DVLA says this is now on a SORN. When I started driving in the late-80s Escorts like this were just cheap cars and tended to be the default first car. I never found them particularly pleasant to sit in though, with basic dashboards on most and low seats.

Still more than happy to see nowadays though, especially in beige and unmolested by big wheels etc. Note period rear plate and anti-static strip.

As I was being escorted out, camera in hand, I managed one last click...I had to straighten a tad as I was literally snapping on my way out. Hehehe....Private Property you need a permit to photograph....I guess I can sorta understand with all the bombing and threats but still. I look nothing like a terrorist, then again does a 10yrs kid. Hmmmmm
