Geier im Tierpark 2020

A friend of mine got two lambs for the season.....Bert and Ernie. This is Ernie. We had lambs when my daughter was in 4-H. They are sweet creatures. I had a very hard time after each fair season.....my daughter not so much. :-). The life of being on a farm is knowing where your food comes from...and not getting too attached.

This young Kookaburra was sitting on the fence, as I was checking on the damselflies which live in the Acalypha at the back of our garden. When I saw that the neighbours Variegated Cordyline was making like a crown behind him, I grabbed my camera and started shooting :)

In spite of his very dirty beak, I still find Ernie very charming, don't you ? :))

A nine year old Jack Russell terrier.

A great night with Steve Stovall up at Sunrise on Mt Rainier. It was on the new moon so the stars and Milky Way appeared bright with good contrast. Many lights on the mountain from all the climbers, and iIt was fun to watch them move in the night. Enlarge for a better view of the stars.

Many thanks for your warm and kind visits and comments my flickr friends. You are the best! đź’™

Ernie Wright Homestead from Shane the movie

The 1953 Western classic film Shane was largely filmed in the Jackson Hole Valley. Most of the set locations for the film have long ago been dismantled including the town that was built on the Antelope Flats and several other cabins. This cabin and two other smaller structures just next to it are the only set from the movie that remain. The three structures were actually real cabins of early Jackson Hole settlers that were repurposed for the movie.

I walk Ernie frequently for a nice family. He's a two-year-old golden retriever, with a sweet disposition.

My very own little ferry after staking my claim on it, twice to be sure, if you look closely. I see I forgot to run any NR and it's a huge crop. Seriously just out playing with my 70-200E FL lens on a windy day. On the tripod here but with the ballhead loose and VR on. I have spent considerable time with the previous version and also with the very handy f4 version. It's safe to say this E version is a monster that will teach me things even on my most stubborn days. It might be front focusing just slightly here; time will tell.

Thank you for your warm and kind visits my friends. I appreciate you (yes you) a lot! :)

I walk Ernie daily for a nice family in town, averaging 1.5 miles. He's a four-year-old golden retriever, and is a joy to photograph. I'd like to get action shots at some point, but it's hard when it's just me and he's leased to a tree.

It's all in a dog's day's work! Morning duty.....every day except Sunday.....that paper is just too large!

one of our beautiful models from class the past 2 days. We had so much fun and it was an awesome final class for 2010. 8 beautiful models and 15 terrific photographers from all around the world. We will have many, many more to share from this class very soon:)

South of the Dollhouse and the Standing Rocks in the Maze is a complex area of fins and washes called Ernie's country, after the man who kept sheep here in the early 1900s. It is now part of Canyonlands National Park. The Abajo Mountains form the skyline.

Approaching the Big Rock a bus sized boulder

Learning drop captures.....Yea I did it! Can't tell you how many hours it took me to finally get this. Persistence pays off. As always, thank you for your visit and kind comments. Enjoy!

A little pet photography at home today. Ernie loves watching the birds outside my office window from the cat perch.

Ernie and I have shared some thought provoking conversations over the last year. I've taught him about the Younger Dryas. He'll be starting school next year and plans to study Geology. He's shared some dirt with me about the raccoons. I wish I could repeat his opinions on raccoons but I promised I'd keep my lips sealed. A promise is a promise.

Very sorry to everyone who has been leaving me comments on my stream. I have been without the internet for a few days but will comment back tonight.

Hope this picture of a little puppy makes up for it.

His name is Ernie

Ernie and his team ventured to close to the opposing ducks and got rushed.. I've never seen Ernie fly like this before ;)

Small rabbit was helping neighbor Ernie with a tall spot in his lawn. Good opportunity to try out my new 500PF lens.

Say hello to Ernie. He keeps an eye what's going on in the kitchen.

Not one much for conversation...
