Este fenómeno natural produce gruesas capas blancas de piedra caliza y travertino que bajan en forma de cascadas por la ladera de la montaña, lo que da la sensación de estar ante una catarata congelada. Estas formaciones también adquieren el aspecto de terrazas de travertino en forma de medialuna que contienen una capa de agua poco profunda dispuestas en el tercio superior de la ladera formando escalones, que oscilan de 1 a 6 metros de altura, o estalactitas que sostienen y unen estas terrazas.
Entre las rocas más antiguas se pueden encontrar mármoles cristalinos, cuarcitas y esquistos, que datan del periodo del Plioceno, mientras que la capa superior es de la era Cuaternaria. Los depósitos más recientes de carbonato de calcio le dan al lugar un aspecto blanco deslumbrante.

Pasaron los años y aprendí que, en verdad, era libre de elegir los hilos de mi Telar, de escoger los colores que me hacían vibrar y tejer mi creación bajo el sol o la luna, en la intimidad del desierto o en la exuberancia de la selva, en la soledad elegida o en la bendición de tener buena compañía.
Pero ahora que mi pelo es completamente de plata, veo que no solo soy la que teje mi destino. Sé que formo parte del corazón de la Tierra, del caminar de las manadas, de la savia de los árboles. De las risas y los llantos de los niños.
Ahora sé que formo parte del TODO y el TODO es parte de mí. Que soy la Tejedora, el Telar y el Hilo.

Santa Maria del Fiore, la cui costruzione fu progettata da Arnolfo di Cambio, è la terza chiesa del mondo (dopo San Pietro a Roma, San Paolo a Londra) e la più grande in Europa al momento della sua ultimazione nel '400: è lunga 153 metri, larga 90 alla crociera ed alta 90 metri dal pavimento all'apertura della lanterna. Essa, terza e ultima cattedrale fiorentina, fu intitolata nel 1412 a Santa Maria del Fiore con chiara allusione al giglio, simbolo della città.
Sorse sopra la seconda cattedrale, che la Firenze paleocristiana aveva dedicato a Santa Reparata.
Le notevoli diversità di stile rivelate nelle sue parti sono la testimonianza del variare del gusto nel lungo periodo trascorso fra la sua fondazione ed il completamento.
La prima pietra della facciata venne posta l'8 settembre 1296, su progetto di Arnolfo di Cambio. Egli lavorò per il Duomo dal 1296 al 1302. Ideò una basilica dagli spazi classici, con tre ampie navate che confluivano nel vasto coro dove è posto l'altare maggiore, a sua volta circondato dalle tribune su cui poi si innesterà la Cupola.
Il progetto di Arnolfo era notevolmente diverso dalla struttura attuale della chiesa, come è possibile notare dall'esterno. Sui fianchi dell'edificio, infatti, a nord e a sud, notiamo che le prime quattro finestre sono più basse, più strette e più ravvicinate di quelle verso est, le quali corrispondono, invece, all'ampliamento operato da Francesco Talenti, capomastro a partire dalla metà del '300.
Arnolfo arriva a finire due campate e metà della nuova facciata.
La facciata fu smantellata nel 1587 quando il Granduca Francesco I de' Medici decise di costruirne una nuova modena e le statue superstiti che la decoravano sono oggi esposte nel Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.
Alla morte d'Arnolfo, avvenuta intorno al 1310, i lavori subirono un rallentamento, per riprendere certamente nel 1331 quando i magistrati dell'Arte della Lana si assunsero la cura della costruzione. Nel 1334 fu nominato capomastro dell'Opera Giotto che si occupò prevalentemente della costruzione del campanile e morì tre anni dopo. A Giotto subentrò Andrea Pisano fino al 1348, anno della terribile peste che decimò la popolazione cittadina da 90.000 a 45.000 abitanti.
I lavori proseguirono fra interruzioni e riprese fino a quando, in seguito al concorso bandito nel 1367, fu accettato il modello definitivo della chiesa proposto da quattro architetti e quattro pittori, tra i quali Andrea di Bonaiuto, Benci e Andrea di Cione, Taddeo Gaddi e Neri di Fioravante.
Dal 1349 al '59 la direzione tocca a Francesco Talenti, che completa il Campanile e prepara un nuovo progetto coadiuvato (dal 1360 al '69) da Giovanni di Lapo Ghini. Nel 1378 fu ultimata la volta della navata centrale, e nel 1380 furono terminate le navate minori. Tra il 1380 ed il 1421 furono costruite le tribune e forse anche il tamburo della Cupola.

In 1990, Archaeological Survey of India discovered a sunken apsidal stepped well along with few sculptures inside it. This stepped well is located immediately to the north of the Shore Temple, its south edge abutting the northern wall of the Shore Temple. On the extreme south of this newly discovered shrine is placed a monolith statue of Varaha (Boar)in its zoomorphic form. This image is carved in round from a single boulder. The statue was found severely damaged, however, with efforts from ASI restorers, we now see this image in its near original glory. The other element of this stepped well is a slender cylindrical shrine constructed partly in rock and partly in stone. Beyond this cylindrical shrine, further northward, is a circular cistern or mini-well. This is cut downwards with a circular rim-like stone placed at the ground level.
ASI report mentions that this well provides potable water though situated near the ocean. Though Rabe accepts these sockets for the capstones of a well, however, he suggests that these might be constructed to hold the ‘pillar of victory’ taken by Narasimhavarman I from Vatapi (Badami) which probably was installed here.

It has four birudas (titles) of Rajasimha Pallava, some of his favorites, inscribed upon the base, in Sanskrit in the Pallava Grantha script. The birudas on the side are “Sri RajasimhaH” “Sri RanajayaH” and “Sri BharaH”. The biruda on the rear, under the varaha’s tail, is “Sri Citra KaarmukaH”. Between the legs of the boar on both the and under its tail, leaves of acquatic plants are sculpted. These are similar to those at the base of the Varaha and Gajalakshmi panels in the Varaha Mandapam. These indicate that the boar which represents Vishnu, is diving under water, not merely digging.
However, how to explain the engraved titles of Rajasimha, as the Chalukyan attacked the Pallava kingdom before the reign of Rajasimha. To explain it, Rabe tells that it was most possible that like other monoliths, this Varaha was also executed during the period of Narasimhavarman I(630–668 AD). Therefore, when the Chalukyas attacked the Pallavas, during the reign of Narasimhavarman I and Parameshvaravarman I, this monolith was present in the temple complex. As the Varaha was destroyed before the reign of Rajasimha (695 to 722 AD), it was Rajasimha who restored it and that’s how we find his titles engraved on it. (Above description source Internet). Back in the 1930's,radios like this decaying beauty were the TV sets of the era. News,weather, sports, and entertainment were broadcast over a limited bandwidth and kept people informed and entertained. Direct feedback and "likes" were a little slow but anyone that could afford one of these weren't complaining....

[Titolo: Luci e ombre]
Era una giornata nuvolosa e senza luce, il tempo non era dei migliori ma sono uscito lo stesso...magari avrei trovato qualcosa di interessante da fotografare. Il mio pensiero si è esaudito poco dopo, quando sono arrivato vicino a quest'albero. Devo dire che appena arrivato, il cielo aveva uno spesso strato di nuvole, e la luce che vedete qui è uscita quasi per magia solo per pochi attimi! È stata quindi un'occasione da non perdere e ho scattato subito!
La luce calda delle ultime ore del pomeriggio ha illuminato le foglioline ancora giovani di questo piccolo noce (perché di un noce si tratta) e il prato sottostante...
Tornato a casa ero pienamente soddisfatto!
Per dire l'ultima cosa, l'albero è lo stesso della mia precedente foto intitolata "Lonely tree"!
It was a cloudy day and without light, the weather was not the best but I came out the same ... maybe I would find something interesting to photograph. My thoughts came to be heard shortly after I came near this tree. I have to say that as soon as the sky had a thick layer of clouds, and the light you see here has come out almost for magic just for a few moments! It was therefore an opportunity not to be missed and I took it straight away!
The warmest light of the last hours of the afternoon illuminated the still young leaves of this little walnut (because of a walnut it is) and the lawn below ...
Returning home I was fully satisfied!
To say the last thing, the tree is the same as my previous photo titled "Lonely Tree"!
La cocina era presidida por el fuego en el suelo con todos los utensilios complementarios, los tres pies , los muelle etc.
El menaje de la cocina incluía, entre otros utensilios, sartenes de hierro o de cobre, ollas y pucheros de barro, platos de cerámica oscura, cucharas y tenedores de madera. El fregadero de piedra con cántaros sobre el y en el suelo, muy cerca la tenaza del agua donde este elemento estaba almacenado. Bajo los fogones estaba el cenicero , un lugar donde diariamente se depositaba la ceniza que se recogía del fuego porque esta era útil y se usaba (otro día lo vamos a explicar ) .
Solían vivir en las casas tres generaciones .

Era una agradable noche de luna nueva de verano. Un poquito fresca, pero no tanto como habitualmente. Tras andar por la única carretera de acceso al pueblo me detuve en un tramo rodeado de árboles donde la oscuridad era total y comencé todo el ritual fotográfico para conseguir la imagen que tenía en mi cabeza. Las hojas de los árboles emitieron un ligero murmullo, balanceadas por una suave brisa, y un escalofrío recorrió mi espalda cuando noté el frescor del aire colándose bajo mi camiseta. ¡Vaya. parece que empieza a refrescar! En ese momento unos pasos me sacaron de mis pensamientos y volviéndome ví como se acercaba a mí una joven cargando con un viejo trípode y una cámara de carrete que ya no cumpliría los 30 años. "Será alguien que se aloja en una de las casas rurales", pensé. Ella colocó su trípode a un lado de la carretera preguntando si me molestaba que se quedase allí. Yo le dije que no me importaba y seguimos cada uno con su trabajo hablando de vez en cuando sobre nuestra afición compartida. En un momento dado yo estaba ensimismado mirando a la cámara y decidiendo los parámetros a utilizar cuando ella dijo: "Deberías retirarte un poco del borde de la carretera. En esta curva morí atropellada y nunca fui capaz de terminar mi fotografía". Yo retiré mi trípode hacia el exterior del asfalto y en el preciso momento en que un coche a toda velocidad apareció tras la curva, pasando casi rozándome. Cuando se me pasó el susto giré la cabeza para agradecer a la muchacha la oportuna advertencia que me había salvado la vida pero... YA NO ESTABA ALLÍ.
Aquí mi propia Leyenda de la chica de la curva en versión fotográfica. Puedes creerla o no, pero ten en cuenta su consejo y ten siempre en cuenta tu seguridad a la hora de hacer fotografías.
