I think it's just as important to have a year long consistently present sense of respectfulness and safe space for all who may not identify with their biology or who may not love someone with the considered opposite biology...so, not just a month or a neighborhood but a celebration of who we can be through our actions.

I just recently moved in Chicago (which is why I have been somewhat absent these past few days) to Northalsted Chicago and is has been quite a party here these last few days even though the Pride Parade took place in the downtown area. This is an area of Chicago where people celebrate and respect differences even though it's not perfect (there is still discrimination here, too).

All areas of the world at all times need to become gentler and less afraid of the unknown. We know what it is like already to have heavily policed streets with racial iniquities alongside the homophobia and transphobia and we need to continue to assert to those in power that we don't want to live like that and it's not working. It leads to higher levels of economic instability, mental illness, and lower levels of unity within the community, positive diversity, and quality education.

I also think we need to think beyond the categories that do not unite us but divide us when we reassert the importance of gender and orientation. We are limiting our ability to love all. We our using maybe only 9% of our brains. Biology should not define us. Our actions should define us.

'Don't Count the Days; Make the Days Count'

- Muhammad Ali

"Stand by Me" sung by Muhammad Ali

He floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee

He was the legendary Muhammad Ali

the greatest boxer that ever fought

a humanitarian that not only taught

us all to dream and reach up high

but if life knocks you down then get up again and touch the sky

he never let illness get him down

he fought that fight bravely until the final round

he was a poet and campaigner for civil rights

he was an author and he even sang between his fights

he sang Stand by Me in 1963

I could listen to him sing that song endlessly

The world has lost an inspirational man

but his legacy will carry on

He was the greatest Champion

not just of boxing but of his fellow man.

yes we can but no...we didn't.

one step forward, two steps back

a work in progress

promises made

and broken

actually

it's quite simple:

an injury to one is an injury to all.

none of us move forward...

until we all do.

Fighting for gay rights and equality for all human beings in America, amd the right to marry the person we love without anyone else telling us it's wrong just because they don't like us...

In the end, freedom shall prevail... and in an Obama nation, there will hopefully be no place for bigotry.

Unless you are leaving under a rock ... or you are in denial , the United States of America is not so United ... neither is the planet ... every country and every religion thinks that they have it right , but they do not in my opinion hence this is why I never became a citizen of the US ( technically I am still a French citizen , but I do not want any labels other than that of Earthling ... If I could I would cancel my French citizenship ) . Nowadays , I am not even sure that it does matter as we may all be living in a simulated world created by some sick entity . Call me crazy , but I still have hopes for a better future !

We have the incredible privilege of serving in the highest offices in the state. We must prove ourselves worthy of our fellow citizens' faith. We must be trusted to always place the public's good above our own and to always choose fairness over favoritism.

Character is made up of core moral principles called the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, caring, fairness and citizenship. Each of these virtues are independently important but together they provide the foundation for a worthy life.

Children learn what they live.

If a child lives with criticism... he learns to condemn.

If he lives with hostility... he learns to fight.

If he lives with ridicule... he learns to be shy.

If he lives with shame... he learns to be guilty.

If he lives with tolerance... he learns confidence.

If he lives with praise... he learns to appreciate.

If he lives with fairness... he learns about justice
