This is one of the Team CLIF riders at the Epic Rides 50-mile OZ Trails mountain bike race in Bentonville, AR from last fall. I did the amateur race on Saturday then photographed the pro race on Sunday.
Shooting in the forest under pouring rain and thick overcast, this was a great chance to test the higher ISO capabilities of the X-T3, which had just been released. At ISO 1600, it performed quite well and produced very sharp images.
I think this is helped by using the monochrome ACROS film stetting, which has an excellent grain structure, even at higher ISO speeds. In addition, the added visual power of black and white can make up for the inherent loss of sharpness and quality that becomes more apparent when shooting in color under extremely dim lighting conditions.

Well, I'm kind of hurried this evening because I'm still packing to go to AZ for the Epic Rides/Kona 24 hours in the Old Pueblo. So I'm posting a crazy saturated bike photo to show my elation... and to counter-act all of the B&W lately.
The race is Saturday, but we're going down to hang out with Matt's parent's and get used to the (maybe) warmer weather.
I'll be taking a camera, naturally, but may not be uploading regularly in the next week, or, at the very least, not commenting as much!
This was taken at the zoo, by the African animal exhibit, the colors are actually only slightly exaggerated, everything is theme-painted and kid friendly...

I awoke in the morning talking to Armand and when I looked out the tent door he was perfectly situated right in the sunrise (yep, I took this while in my sleeping bag). I made him stay still while I grabbed a bracket of three.
We were all happy to see the morning (my night lap had been really rough - I bonked hard about half-way through as I started to get a cold and forgot to bring a carb gel...) Both the Armands took two night laps! That's just the way the rotation worked out - I fully expected to have a second night lap as well, but everyone else's night laps were rough too, and I woke up about 15 minutes late and wasted time getting this picture.
Anyway 3-image HDR - I tried to be mostly subtle in its application and there's a little bit of fringing since its hand-held and I was half-asleep.
