Environmental Preservation, Port St Joe, Florida: This trip will focus on the impact that urban development and human activity have on our ecosystems and the ways in which individuals can preserve our natural world. The group served with the Friends of St Joseph Bay.
I made this poster in February 2010. The assignment was to make a calendar about an environment issue that I believed is the most important. I chose the humanity to be the biggest problem, because without humans there wouldn't be any environment challenge at all.
My concept started with the human ego; which always consume things and can't avoid temptations. We're the species that pollute the Earth.
The dying tree symbolize the Earth which is going to collapse if we don't change our behavior. The red apple is an allusion of the story about "Adam and Eve". God created humans, and Eve ate the red apple because she couldn't resist her temptations even though she knew it was wrong. This is how the human ego was created, and if we still cannot resist our temptations (red apple), then the beginning of the Earth (Adam and Eve) might also be the end.
The photo is taken by me.
The inauguration of a new solar power planet in the building of the "Tawasul School" in Establ Antar, implemented through the Egypt PV project.
The project is implemented by the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) and the United Nations Development Programme in Egypt with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
Green Chimneys really tired me out today! We volunteered for the mulch...little did we know that we had to separate the 25 bales, put them in about 3 piles, take it over to the garden, and spread it over the tomatoes! It was really hard work.....and, since it was purely organic, it was really NASTY to the touch!!! We're city girls -- what do we know??!! Anyway, it was a very rewarding experience!
