Continuing with sport I went to a local gym and got some shots of the boxers training there. This guy was nicknamed The Power and was happy for me to use flash as he sparred in a training ring.

In another still life image, this is one I created using high-key lighting and I used white objects on a white background for my still life, a tricky subject to photograph. This furthers my understanding of other styles of photography and my experience with studio lighting.

As I progressed in college opportunities arose for me to practice my skills and try new styles in college endorsed photoshoots. In this high profile one, HITACHI UK came to the college with their new selection of power tools and I was made photographer for the day. I did a lot of research before this shoot and it was a great way to hone my product photography skills. Not my favourite genre but it shows my love for all photography and how I like to try new things.

This furthers my understanding of other styles of photography and my experience with studio lighting even more. Low-key lighting has been used for this photograph with model David posing in a praying stance, coming out of the darkness of a low-key blackout background.

After enjoying some gig photography at the Saltaire Fest I headed down to a local pub that was hosting a night of live music and they were happy for me to take a few photos. I used a flash that you should never use without first asking permission as it can blind performers and this can apply in sports and other styles too. I chose to photograph in black and white at this gig following advice and learning that at gigs there can be strong reds and blues affecting your colour balance and black and white would fix that problem and it also works well for focusing your eye onto the subject of an image without any colourful background distractions.
