The Taj Mahl "crown of palaces",is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage".

Taj Mahal is regarded by many as the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian and Indian architectural styles.

In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the white domed marble mausoleum is the most familiar component of the Taj Mahal, it is actually an integrated complex of structures. The construction began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, employing thousands of artisans and craftsmen. The construction of the Taj Mahal was entrusted to a board of architects under imperial supervision, including Abd ul-Karim Ma'mur Khan, Makramat Khan, and Ustad Ahmad Lahauri. Lahauri is generally considered to be the principal designer.

Thank you for entrusting me.

Children can express their emotions immediately and spontaneously, they can speak to the river, the wind, the sun... We can learn to connect to the natural elements again and use their energy for our souls. We can entrust our sorrows to the river and have them carried away and dissolved.

The current church building was built in the 18th century when feeling the need to expand the facilities, mainly the capacity of the church. The project was entrusted to the architect Ventura Rodríguez.

For this reason, the Romanesque temple was demolished to replace it with another with a Greek cross plan inscribed in a square (clearly Baroque plan), which is the one that exists today and we see in the photo.

The southern wing of the transept and the Puerta de las Vírgenes that open onto the cloister remain as a vestige of the primitive temple.

The lack of economic resources meant that the cloister itself did not have the same end as the church

Russia. Moscow. St. Kuznetsky Most, 13/9, bldg. 1 - The Tretyakov Trading House with the Lyons Credit Bank.

In the XVIII century. at the corner of Kuznetsky Most and Rozhdestvenka there were two-storey stone buildings with benches that belonged to Count I.I. Vorontsov. It was from these shops that the glory of Kuznetsky Most as the most "French" street of old Moscow began: the first Parisian fashion stores opened here. A century later, the property was acquired by merchants, brothers P.M. and S.M. Tretyakov - the creators of the famous art gallery. In 1889, the construction of a trading house began on this site. The work was entrusted to A.S. Kaminsky - the favorite architect of the Tretyakovs.

For three years, Kaminsky erected a three-storey "tower" in the Russian style on Kuznetsky Most - perhaps one of the best creations of the famous architect. Even at the design stage, it was known that part of the building, along Rozhdestvenka Street, was rented by the Lyon Credit Bank. Therefore, in the basement, where the safes were supposed to be installed, a unique system was designed that made it possible to flood the room with water - additional protection from burglars. On the side of Kuznetsky Most, a store was opened in the house "Datsiaro" - a well-known company, famous for the publication of high-quality printed art graphics.

After the revolution, the house was nationalized. Soon the People's Commissariat of Justice moved here, and later - the Prosecutor's Office of the RSFSR. In the part of the building on the Kuznetsky Most there was a hairdresser's. Over the years, most of the interiors have been destroyed.

At the turn of the XX and XXI centuries. in the premises of the former trading house br. Tretyakovs housed a restaurant, as well as a sauna with a swimming pool.

And in 2007, restoration of the monument began. Mosaic floors, a staircase, a mezzanine balcony, a chandelier of the late 19th century, most likely made according to a sketch by the artist A.N. Benois, exact copies of the tapestries that used to cover the walls were made. The facades of the building have been repaired, the brass shaped roof with scallops has been restored.

Now, as before the revolution, part of the building is occupied by a bank, in the other part - by various offices.

he site was previously occupied by a Palaeo-Christian and Visigothic cathedral, which later, after the Islamic conquest of Spain, was rebuilt in 832 to be used as a mosque. In 1149, after the city's conquest by the Christian Ramon Berenguer IV of Barcelona and Ermengol VI of Urgell (1149), the structure was reconsecrated as "Santa Maria Antiqua", and entrusted to canons regular.

In 1193, however, the cathedral chapter ordered the construction of a new edifice, following the contemporary Romanesque architectural canons, to master Pere de Coma. The first stone was laid in 1203 by King Peter II of Aragon and count Ermengol VII of Urgell. Construction continued throughout the reign of James I of Aragon. It was consecrated to the Virgin Mary on 31 October 1278. The cloisters not were completed until the 14th century. The bell tower was begun in 14th century and finished in 1431.[2] The portal Porta dels Apòstols begun in the 14th and completed in 15th century.[3]

In 1707, the city was conquered by the troops of Philip V: the king ordered the destruction of the cathedral because it has taken a prominent part in the city's defense. Nevertheless, the order was never executed, and the cathedral was converted into barracks. The building was declared a national monument in 1918, and restoration works were started in 1950.The cathedral is designed in a transitional style between Romanesque and Gothic. It lacks almost any influence of Islamic architecture. The floor plan is of a basilica in a Latin cross with a nave and two aisles. The tower is octagonal with a central space of five apses. The interior was decorated in painted murals and sculpture, much of which is still preserved, but much of which has been despoiled during the War of Spanish Succession.

The octagonal tower is 12.65 metres (41.5 ft) in diameter at its base, but 9.62 metres (31.6 ft) at the top. Its maximum height is 60.00 metres (196.85 ft) and it contains 238 steps. A bell named Mònica announces the quarter-hours and one Silvestra announces the hours. The bells are of the international Gothic style of the 15th century.

Star of David, in the cloister of the Old Cathedral of Lleida.

The cloister is unusually placed in front of the main entrance of the church, and is notable for both its rare opened gallery with views over the city and for its extraordinary size. In fact, this cloister has been regarded as one of the largest cloisters in Europe.[4] This cloister has 17 ornate Gothic windows, each of them different. Among them, one could point out the Muslim window of "the palmtrees" and the central one of the westernmost wing, with a complex decoration which includes both a King David's Star and a Christian cross. wiki pedia dixit

The Church of Saint Lorenzo was begun in 1775-1776, the construction of the new parish stopped after only two years due to lack of funds, because of the death of the main financial backers, residing outside of the town of Tremezzo. Construction was resumed after nearly 100 years and ended in 1894, upon the design of Architect Parrocchetti, to whom the work was entrusted in a second time, and who distanced himself from the elaborated plans in a first time of Architect Carlo Colombo. The imposing building, in an eclectic mix of neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic styles, was frescoed on the inside by painter Luigi Tagliaferri who worked there from 1906 to 1910, realizing all of the paintings of the choir and the vault.

...the 55|34 secret is hidden...

#MacroMonday

#Spiral

Please (double) zoom in :-)

I don't know whether the exact 55/34-formula applies to this capitulum - it does to most sunflowers, and the sunchoke is a member of the Helianthus family; but like most spiral forms found in nature, it is based on the famous Fibonacci sequence (and as far as formulas, sequences and such are involved, I'd happily entrust you to Wikipedia, because all the math stuff has always been way beyond me 😉 ) Isn't it fascinating how many spirals we find in nature? From the tiniest shapes found in shells, snail shells, flowers and cones, to the most huge ones, the galaxies - and all of them are perfect logarithmic structures. This natural spiral definitely is on the smaller side, the capitulum (I hope it's the correct term) of this sunroot is just 1,7 cm / 0,67 inches in diameter. This is a focus stack composed of 52 images, combined in Helicon Focus, method B (radius 14, smoothing 7). I have an image of another blossom from this sunchoke bouquet which I liked a little better, because that capitulum had more green in it, but the spiral here is nicer

and also much better defined, so I've decided to add this to the MM photo pool despite it being a little too "all over yellow".

Have a sunny week ahead, dear Flickr friends, stay safe and healthy! HMM, Everyone!

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go for to you I entrust my life.

Work did not begin until 1572, at the height of Mannerism and well over a century after the completion of the masonry work. Grand Duke Cosimo I de' Medici chose the theme of the Last Judgement to fresco the enormous dome (4000 square meters of frescoes! ), and entrusted the task to Giorgio Vasari, assisted by Don Vincenzo Borghini for the choice of the iconographic theme.

Kamnik, Slovenia. The new parish church of Mary's Immaculate Conception in Šutna preserved the bell tower of the old church, which today stands independently next to the church. The initiative for construction was given in 1734 by the priest Maximilijan Leopold Rasp (1673-1742), and it was built according to the plans of the architect Gregor Maček (1701-1745). The painting of the presbytery was entrusted to the baroque painter Franc Jelovšek (1700-1764). In the church, on a special plinth made by architect Plečnik, there is also a copy of Layer's painting of the Mother of God from Brezje, created under the brush of Kamnik painter Lojze Perek (1909-1980).

The crew of the steam program at Union Pacific Railroad set out to record the last time 844, 4014, and 3985 will ever be together again in the steam house in Cheyenne. Along with these 3, UP 5511 the last of its kind was on hand to join the lineup, with 5511 and 3985 donated to the Sylvis Illinois museum. Ed Dickens contacted me back on the early morning of September 13, 2022 with an idea he came up with over a dinner outing with friends the night before. Some of us were all mutual friends and my name came up. A special thanks to my friend Jennifer Howell, she graciously thought I was a good fit for the assignment and Ed contacted me the following day. Ed offered me the opportunity to include my friend Derek Brown or known as “Buffie” and he was eager to join in, and away we went together as a team. UP sent some of their own people down from Omaha and the Rocky Mountain Railroad club sent a member that was acting exclusively for “Trains Magazine’ for a small fan fare of the special move to get 5511 ready for its trip to Silvus, Illinois where Union Pacific donated several pieces of equipment including 3985 and 5511. Thank you Ed Dickens for this incredible opportunity and making the move to Silvis such a success!

Ed Dickens and my fellow crew of photographers set out to capture a special moment in Union Pacific history, a lasting portrait of the last of the giants at the Steam Shop together; and a special thank you to Ed and the Steam Crew for their enduring spirit and participation making this shoot possible with me. And thank you to my friends Derek Brown and Bruce Brackley , Sachit Egan, Jennifer Howell for you guys made this wonderful. It was important to Ed Dickens to preserve this occasion, I got lots of back up photographers in case my camera failed so it was forever captured. I just press the button, Ed set up the magic. I’m just so honored he entrusted me to do it for him.

BASILIQUE NOTRE DAME

BASILICA NOTRE DAME

The Notre Dame de la Victoire church was built at the end of the 19th century, when Mayor Félix Martin undertook to “transform” Saint-Raphaël, not without success.

The growth of the city was such that the old church of San Rafeu could hardly accommodate the new citizens. Abbé Bernard, parish priest from 1882 to 1890, then entrusted the construction of a new place of worship to the architect Pierre Aublé, fellow student of Félix Martin. Of Lyonnaise origin, and a great lover of the Byzantine - Moorish style, Pierre Aublé imagined the basilica of Saint-Raphaël according to this inspiration. There is also a very characteristic dome of this type of building, largely inspired by that of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul.

There is also a representation of the Archangel Raphael on the facade, symbol of the town (see “the legend of Tobias”). Built for the most part with pink sandstone from Estérel, it occupies a total area of 850 m² for a height of 35m.

The Church of Our Lady was inaugurated in 1887, and so named in homage to a famous maritime battle where Christian forces routed the Ottoman fleet on October 5, 1571. The Vatican elevated it to the dignity of Basilica in 2004, the second now in the diocese of Fréjus-Toulon with that of Saint-Maximin.

São Bento railway station - Porto

History:

The name of the station derives from a Benedictine monastery built on this spot in the 16th century. The monastery fell victim of a fire in 1783, was later rebuilt, but was in a grave state of disrepair at the end of the 19th century. In the context of an expansion of the railway system in Portuguese territory, King Carlos I laid the first stone of the station in 1900. The project was entrusted to Porto architect José Marques da Silva, who designed a building under the influence of French Beaux-Arts architecture.

🎼🎶...::: Love Letter :::...

I wonder if you miss me

It's been a long year

Winter has snowed

The summer has shone

But I ain't forgotten

The sweet taste of chocolate

I taste on your lips

When we had our last kiss

So here's my love letter

Entrusted to the weather

Will ride across the waves

And float through the clouds

Yeah, when it's delivered

Do what you want with her

You can send it back

Or keep it around

[Sarah Kang]

And maybe I am wrong

Maybe it's been too long

But I heard from someone

That you're back in town

And if it's not too late

I can bring chocolate

And maybe if you want them

Some roses too

'Cause it's been a long year

And maybe you missed me

I think you remember

The words of that tune

I never stopped dreaming about

The sound of that song

Playing in the background

When that last night

Was finally spent

Was left with the memory

Of that chocolate scent

Le Domaine du Rayol - The Garden of the Mediterranean is a landscaped garden located on the corniche of the Moors, opposite the islands of Hyères in the town of Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, in the French department of Var and the South Provence region -Alpes-Côte d'Azur. It is a garden with species from all areas of the world's Mediterranean biome.

The rehabilitation of the site was entrusted to the landscaper Gilles Clément. He totally redesigned the garden, according to his planetary garden principle. He developed in this privileged space a patchwork of Mediterranean-type gardens: California (cacti, etc.), South African, Australian (eucalyptus, etc.), New Zealand (tree ferns, etc.), Chilean (cacti, etc.).

The Garden of the Mediterranean presents on 7 hectares of protected natural spaces, these landscapes of the globe which share the same climate. Open to the year to all types of audiences, it is part of the awareness programs and training of educational institutions.

The Fig Tree Bay, protected area and located below the Domaine du Rayol, is the starting point for aquatic walks during the summer season. This discovery of the marine environment also raises public awareness of the preservation of the richness of underwater fauna and flora.

Asim, one of the soldiers of the protective guard of the Ankh, practices with his companion the attack with his Ghostspear. He is especially concerned today because they were entrusted with some commemorative tablets of the Ankh and are made to practice with them. He seems strange to her and makes her suspect that they actually want them to protect something more important, and the exercises with the boards are the excuse. For several weeks, officials have been uneasy. Some rumors speak of a dark power that is invading the Fairlands, but no one knows where it comes from or how it does it. Asim shakes his head to clear the dark thoughts that invade him because he knows that an oversight on the battlefield can cost him his life and it is better to start training. When they're done, he knows who to ask what's going on...

Pietro e Paolo or Mother Church of Montescaglioso dedicated to St Peter and Paul was taken on the steps leading to the B&B main entrance from the parking lot and yesterdays shot was from the front.

There existed a parish church here as early as 1310 but seismic events and centuries of use saw the church start to fall into disrepair during the 16th and 17th centuries, that coupled with a massive population growth prompted the need for a new church in this location. In 1776 it was determined that the old church could not be restored the new church building was entrusted to the designer Agostino Gimma from Bari who constructed a three-nave plan with large apses and a dome at the intersection of the transept.

In those days construction projects usually lasted much longer than the designer and could stretch generational into families or students of the designer who would complete the artist’s vision of the building and such is the case with this church which did not see completion until 1823. The result as seen here is an imposing building that dominates its surroundings with a bell tower that thrusts into the skyline at a height of 44m and I think no one ignored the call of the bells when rung.

Urbino Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral in the city of Urbino, Italy, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Since 1986 it has been the seat of the Archbishop of Urbino-Urbania-Sant'Angelo in Vado, and was previously the seat of the Archbishops of Urbino.

The first cathedral on the site was built here in 1021, to replace an earlier one located outside the city walls. Under the patronage of Count Federico da Montefeltro, it was rebuilt in the 15th century, based on a design attributed to Francesco di Giorgio Martini. Construction was not finished until 1604. The west front, using stone quarried from Furlo, was designed by Camillo Morigia and completed in 1782. It was ornamented with five statues, representing the three theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity, between Saint Augustine to the left and Saint John Chrysostom to the right.

On 12 January 1789, a powerful earthquake toppled the cupola, and made a reconstruction necessary. The project was entrusted to Giuseppe Valadier, and completed by 1801 in the present Neoclassical style.

the church of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore was built in the 16th century on a pre-existing building from the Carolingian era, formerly the site of the most important female monastery in the city belonging to the Benedictine order. The works began in 1503 and the complex was completed in 1574, the year in which the facade of the church was completed. The real treasure of this building is the splendid cycle of frescoes which were entrusted to painters from the school of Leonardo da Vinci, a cycle which has led this monumental complex to be nicknamed "the Sistine Chapel of Milan".

Lahauri is generally considered to be the principal designer.

but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the management skills of celery. They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a Cuisinart, let alone the economy. The Republicans, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn't bother to stop because they'd want to be on time for Ugly Pants Night at the country club :-)

Fort Carré is a military fort built under the reign of Henry II in the sixteenth century. The fort is located on the peninsula Saint-Roch in Antibes, at the edge of the seaside road and is built on a rock rising 26 meters above the sea.

Avenue du 11 Novembre, 06600 Antibes

In 1552, Henry II decided the construction on the islet Saint-Jaume of a tower which takes the same name, which will also be called the small Fort, whose guard is entrusted to the Antibois. It ensures the surveillance of the port of Antibes. At the same time, Henry II had the Saint-Laurent tower erected at the top of the peninsula facing the city, the work of which probably began in 1550. The origin of the work is attributed, according to the sources, to Jean Renaud de Saint-Rémy or (and) Henri de Mandons. The first was commissioned by Francis I of the examination of the squares of Provence in 1546. Died in 1557, the work probably continues under the direction of members of his family.

From 1680, Vauban ordered the continuation of the works of the great bastion of Guise, the works of the port, the repair of the doors, the repair of the castle, the construction and the enlargement of the guard-houses. The waterfront is remodeled with a covered path. We must redo the parapet, develop embrasures and platforms to protect the upper city. In the 1690s, major changes were undertaken, under the direction of Niquet: the ditches are deepened, half-moons built, riders built on bastions and glazes extended to protect the ramparts.

The Sun Goes Down Again

I need you like a flower needs the rain

I belong to you and you belong to me

meeting you made my life sweeter

warm as Summer seas

I would climb the highest mountain

and fall without a qualm

knowing you would catch me

safely in your arms

I will tell you all my heart's desires

entrust my soul to you

give you all you need my darling

make your dreams come true

The moon looks at us knowingly

our names on soft winds flow

carry me across the ocean

set me down in pure white snow

You heard me softly whisper

I'm lonely in the rain

while waiting for the moon to rise

The sun goes down again.

The Chateau de Vincennes is a fortress located in Vincennes, east of Paris, built from the 14th to the 17th century. It is the largest surviving French royal fortress and, by the height of its dungeon, 52 meters, it is one of the highest fortresses on the plain in Europe.

The Château de Vincennes is the seat of the historical service of La Défense.

In addition, the relics of the crown of thorns which were kept in Vincennes having been transferred to the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, the construction work of a new chapel was entrusted to Raymond du Temple and began in 1379. La Sainte -Chapelle de Vincennes was to receive a fragment of the relic that remained in Vincennes. On the death of Charles V in 1380, Charles VI gave the order to continue the work, which was interrupted several times. When Louis XI made Vincennes his residence, he left the royal apartments of the keep for a new single-storey pavilion, built in 1470 in the southwest corner of the castle. He also relaunched the Sainte-Chapelle construction site.

Fallingwater is Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece. In 1935, he designed this private residence for Edgar J. Kaufmann Sr., a prominent Pittsburgh department store owner.

Wright's concept of "organic" architecture was a "harmonious union of art and nature." In Fallingwater, he designed a home that was both part of the rocky hill, and of the waterfall. In a poll of the members of the American Institute of Architecture, Fallingwater was named the "best all-time work of American architecture."

The Kaufmanns used the home on weekends from 1937 to 1963. Then, the house and all of its contents were entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy .

Evaporate Into Space

Listen to the silence

Gaze into the darkness

Entrust your body to your mind

Let go of the earth

Let your soul unwind

Floating into space

Forget this dreadful place

Become one with the stars

Become one with who you are

The Dancing House is an unmissable and magnificent building that has become an integral part of Prague. The building got its name thanks to its towers, which resemble the figures of dancers Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.

Since 1945, there has been a vacancy on the corner of Rašínova nábřeží and Jiráskova náměstí. The house that stood there was destroyed on February 14, 1945 (just like Emmaus) by bombs from American planes, when the Americans mistook Prague for Dresden. After the final removal of the debris in 1960, for 30 years, under the former regime, it was debated what would happen here.

The Dancing House was designed by Croatian architect Vlado Milunić together with Frank O. Gehry. The building has offices, a luxury cafe and a restaurant. The building got its name thanks to its towers, which resemble the figures of dancers Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. The dancer is represented by a stone tower and his partner by a glass tower. At the top of the tower symbolizing the dancer is a dome with a structure of metal tubes covered with stainless mesh with mesh, covered in imaginary hair and representing the head of a medusa. The Dancing House danced to its opening in 1996, and that same year it received the prestigious award from the American magazine Time in the category of design of the year. The interiors of the investor's offices were partly entrusted to the architect Eva Jiřičná.

The building has a usable area of 2,965 m2 of office space on a total of 6 floors, the restaurant is located on the top floor and the conference and training center can be found on the ground floor of the building. In addition, at the top of the house you will find a gallery with a viewing terrace where you can admire Prague and view its panorama with a circular 360-degree view.

In 2021, the Dancing House was rated as the 9th most beautiful building in the world by Roofing Megastore's analytical software, which compared the parameters of fifty of the most famous architectural works with a numerical ratio known as the golden ratio.

The building was formerly known as the 'Fishermen's Bastion', presumably from the section of the Buda City Wall entrusted to the guild of fishermen, but more likely to the Danube side settlement, Fishtown (Halászvárosról) also called Watertown. The fishermen found their merchandise already in the Middle Ages near the Matthias Church it was brought to the fish market, but the guild of fishermen not only cared about selling fish, but in wars, its members defiantly defended the city walls.

🎶 SARAH KANG - LOVE LETTER

I wonder if you miss me

It's been a long year

Winter has snowed

The summer has shone

But I ain't forgotten

The sweet taste of chocolate

I tasted on your lips

When we had our last kiss

So here's my love letter

Entrusted to the weather

Will ride across the waves

And float through the clouds

Yeah when it's delivered

Do you what you want with her

You can send it back

Or keep it around

And maybe I am wrong

Maybe it's been too long

But I heard from someone

That you're back in town

But if it's not too late

I can bring chocolate

And if you want them

Some roses too

Cause it's been a long year

And maybe you missed me

I think you remember

The words of that tune

I've never stopped dreaming about

The sound of that song

Playing in the background

And when that last night

Was finally spent

Was left with the memory

Of that chocolate scent

So here's my love letter

Entrusted to the weather

Will ride across the waves

And float through the clouds

Yeah, when it's delivered

Do you what you want with her

You can send it back

Or keep it around

Piacenza : Alberoni Gallery - Ecce Homo - signed by Antonello da Messina

We must go back to 1751 to rediscover the origins of this illustrious and important institution of the city of Piacenza. Cardinal Giulio Alberoni wanted this college to train priests of the Diocese of Piacenza who did not have the means to pay for their studies: he entrusted it to the Venetian Fathers known to the Cardinal during his stay in Rome.
