The education kit entitled “Riskland: the fun way to learn how to prevent disasters” is the outcome of a joint initiative between the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). This product was developed at the end of 2002 by the ISDR Regional Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean, in cooperation with UNICEF Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNICEF-TACRO). Initially, it was addressed for countries in the LAC region and was originally produced in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

School of Pharmacy, Hajvery University organized one day seminar entitled, "Area to be focused in Pharmacy Practice" in Pakistan on 4th February 2016, Thursday, at 11.00 am.
Dr. Zaheer-ud-din-Babar, Head of Pharmacy Practice, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland, New Zealand, visited Hajvery University. He is an International speaker, and recipient of prestigious “Research Excellence Award” from University of Auckland in 2012.
Dr. Babar has active research linkages with the leading universities in Australia, Europe, and in the Asia Pacific Region. He has also acted as a consultant for World Health Organization (WHO), Health Action International, and International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), and for the Pharmaceutical Management Agency of New Zealand. He is a reviewer of top tier health-policy journals and of funding bodies including Australian National Health and Medical Research Council. Dr Babar is the founding editor of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice (www.joppp.org).
The seminar presented by Dr. Zaheer-ud-din-Babar was informative for students and for faculty as well. He has given some excellent solutions for current problems of Pharmacy practices. He has raised the need of community Pharmacist, i.e. processing of prescription, care of patient, monitoring of drug utilization, extemporaneous preparation, and health promotion. With this addition, many native health care problems will automatically be resolved. At the end, there was the closing ceremony. Dr. Lubna Shakir, Mr. Talib Hussain, and students of different batches shared their comments about these worthwhile lectures. The Rector of Hajvery University, Dr. Khalid Pervaiz gave a thank note and positive feedback for the lectures. Prof. Dr. Khalid Pervaiz represented souvenir to Dr. Zaheer-ud-din-Babar. Dr. Babar also thanked and appreciated the management, faculty, and students, and thanked Hajvery University for inviting him. The session ended with a group photo.

Colour can influence, distract, disturb, overwhelm, highlight, enhance and concentrate how we communicate. We were each given a unique colour swatch to investigate, name and present to the group. I was given a colour which I named "Coruscate Blue" because of its reflective, underwater qualities.

Die Werke von Willem de Rooij kreisen um Fragen nach Repräsentation und Bedeutung. Seit den frühen 1990er-Jahren arbeitet der niederländische Künstler in unterschiedlichen Medien wie Installation, Fotografie und Film. Für seine Ausstellung „Entitled“ im MMK 2 des MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main hat er Werke und Werkgruppen aus frühen Schaffensphasen bis zur Gegenwart erstmals zu einer neuen, den gesamten Museumsraum umfassenden Installation vereint.
„Willem de Rooij ist mit wichtigen Werken aus seiner Kooperation mit Jeroen de Rijke in der Sammlung des MMK vertreten. Wir freuen uns, mit dieser Ausstellung das Œuvre von de Rooij noch intensiver und umfassender beleuchten zu können“, sagt Prof. Dr. Susanne Gaensheimer, Direktorin des MMK.
De Rooij studierte an der Gerrit Rietveld Akademie und an der Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. Seit 2006 lehrt er als Professor für Bildende Künste an der Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. Von 1995 bis 2006 arbeitete er zusammen mit Jeroen de Rijke (1970–2006).
Bei dieser Ausstellung stehen sowohl die einzelnen Arbeiten des Künstlers im Mittelpunkt als auch ihre Anordnung in einer umfassenden Installation, die speziell für die Räume des
MMK 2 entwickelt wurde. „In der Anordnung der Werke zu einer Gesamtinstallation sieht Willem de Rooij einen wichtigen Teil seiner Arbeit als Künstler. Der Raum – ob privat, öffentlich, institutionell oder sozial – ist dabei zentral. Der Raum zwischen den einzelnen Werken und die Aussichten auf den städtischen Umraum schaffen eine Beziehung zwischen dem Werk und dem Betrachter, zwischen dem Museum und der Stadt.“, sagt Klaus Görner, Kurator der Ausstellung.
Durch die bewusste Einbindung von Zwischenräumen und Fensteröffnungen stellt die Installation im MMK 2 Verbindungen zwischen dem Innenraum und der äußeren Umgebung her. Die Präsentation ist dabei nicht als Parcours oder Abfolge aufgebaut, sondern als ein Gefüge verschiedener Zonen, die sich gegenseitig durchdringen und über Blickachsen miteinander verknüpft sind. Dadurch deckt die Installation Referenzen innerhalb de Rooijs Œuvre auf.

Entitled 'My favourite places and spaces' the competition was based around 'Reminiscences of Childhood' - Dylan Thomas’ classic recollection of the sights and sounds of his childhood.
Following in the footsteps of Dylan, the competition asked pupils to submit a short story, poem or picture depicting their own favourite places and spaces.
Participating schools were provided with a fascinating insight into the Swansea writer’s story through animated performances of the piece by actor Mark Montinaro and word-based workshops with Dylan Day Coordinator and poet Mab Jones.

Perhaps I should have entitled this photo "Why did the turtle cross the road?"
This is a "Common Snapping Turtle" (Chelydra serpentina), which I happened upon as I made my way from 0800 Mass this morning.
After I made this pic, I picked it (I'm not certain of the sex) up and threw it in the creek running alongside the road. As I turned my Jeep around, I noticed a nearby resident walking out with her camera. She said she also was going to photograph it and ensure it didn't turn into road kill.
The Alligator Snapping Turtle is most easily distinguished from the Common Snapping Turtle by the presence of "horns" or spiny-like protrusions on its shell. As you can see, this one has none.

Light Pillars
First I'd like to congratulate on your very beautiful photos.
You entitled these lights aurora borealis, but it was not a northern light. You wrote it yourself that the light were seen all directions around you. I think, you were at a place near a city with many streetlights and other kinds of outdoor lights. The sky has some mid / high level clouds, with lots of ice crystals inside them. These crystals can produce a big display of light pillars above city lights, as the plates of these crystals can reflect the light of streetlamps, they appear above the light source, so if you're outside a city, you are able to see them sometimes from long distances. It's more common to see light pillars in the frozen water vapour (so called diamond dust) in the air just beginning at the top of the lamps, e.g. geochristian.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/lightpillars.jpg or www.sat.ltu.se/frontpage_images/light_pillars_sepia2_full...
What you saw is much more rare, so you were much more lucky than just observing a northern light display!

No matter if the crystals are from higher clouds, or near surface diamond dust, the display is the same. So again, you were very lucky to see and to take photographs of this beautiful phenomena!

Erected as a prominent Jewish social club in 1887, the building achieved its greatest significance as the home of the People’s Movement Club, a pioneering black social organization led by Oscar DePriest.
Beginning in 1917, Unity Hall was the headquarters of the Peoples Movement Club, a political organization headed by Oscar Stanton De Priest, the primary leader in the drive for fair political representation in Black Metropolis. From the time of his arrival, De Priest was deeply interested in the political structure of the city, and his involvement soon resulted in his election as a Cook County Commissioner in 1904. As the black population grew during the first decade of the century, a movement began to establish representation for the black community in Chicago's municipal government. De Priest formed careful alliances with the white Republican political bosses who controlled the Black Metropolis wards, broadening his political support. Aspirations for black representation in the City Council were realized in 1915, when De Priest defeated three black and five white candidates in the Republican primary for the Second Ward aldermanic post, and with the combined support of the community and the white Republican Party bosses, was the first black to be elected to the City Council. De Priest took an active role in attending to the needs and goals of his constituents, one of his most controversial acts being an ordinance which he proposed to the City Council in 1916 which would have revoked the business license of any establishment that discriminated in providing goods and services on the basis of race. The ordinance met with vigorous opposition and was dropped from further consideration by the City Council.
Upon election, De Priest sought to establish a new political organization supported from within the black community, creating the Peoples Movement Club in 1917. The Peoples Movement Club political organization remained one of the best organized political groups in Black Metropolis. De Priest later became Third Ward Committeeman in 1924, and in 1928 had the distinction of being the first black from the North to be elected to the United States House of Representatives, serving for three consecutive terms.

was what lead us all to pursue our art...when did you first realize
you were an artist? When I shared my memory, Craig Newsom asked if I
could redraw it...
so here we go! lol
I can remember my first drawing...well, the first one that excited
me. I was sitting in a wood paneled room, age 5, trying to keep my
hand steady as I created this Mighty little figure! It was important
to make sure that the arms weren't too long...cuz then they'd look
like legs...and vice versa. So, first it was the circle (the
head)...and then one long steady line from the base of the head...to
make the body...and, right when I finished the 2nd arm and slowly
moved it upward (to reconnect to the face)...my heart started
pounding...like it couldn't happen fast enough...and I damn near
squealed when they touched. And then I screamed for my mother
"Maaaaaaa!!!!!!!!" with so much excitement that my voice cracked (and
I can hear it in my head the same way I heard it as a child)!
Unforgettable. it was a moment when i achieved my full
vision...seamless execution.
...and it's still sort of like that...when I complete a long drawn out
piece. After so many attempts...When Im striding towards the finish
line...making final touches here and there...my heart starts to
race...I get really excited and quite often, I call my mama to show
her first. lol)
Happy Painting! the most fun revisit Ive had in a while. lol
iPhone/finger/art studio and just a few seconds of a memory that will

Anna Hall, a marine zoologist also quoted in the article suggests showing graphic images to children to warn them of the dangers posed to sea lions. This series is a response to that suggestion and not biased propaganda as I have been accused of.
The spacing and morphology of these wounds suggest a propeller strike.

It is unknown what caused this wound, however the hind flipper is severely mangled.

Brenda Billingy presents a sermon entitled "Grace, Law and Obedience" at the G.C. session morning devotional in the Georgia Dome, Wednesday, June 30. Billingy used sand and a stone as props to represent Jesus' grace when he did not condemn the women caught in the act of adultery, but drew in the sand the pharisee's sins and demanded that whoever was without fault to cast the first stone. For three decades, this sculpture stood in the plaza of the World Trade Center. Entitled "The Sphere", it was conceived by artist Fritz Koenig as a symbol of world peace. It was damaged during the tragic events of September 11, 2001, but endures as an icon of hope and the indestructible spirit of this country. The Sphere was placed here on March 11, 2002 as a temporary memorial to all who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center.
My series entitled "Soul Paintings" focuses on the practice of inviting the divine into my work by modifying the levels of my consciousness through prayer and meditation. I call this series "Soul Paintings" because I believe that the love and light of God is alive in each of us, and through my work and attunement with my spirit and soul I may better use my artwork to honor Creation and possibly help others pacify the beast within.

This is an old one, from when the Marimekko duvet was still intact. The look on Babar's face is one of sheer entitlement.
Our activity was entitled "Saca la Bici por 350" and was organized by the
EcoClub of the Maxei School, Saca la Bici Group and by the biking school
PoliBikes. People were invited to ride their bikes on one of the main streets of
the city of Querétaro, closed to normal traffic every Sunday to encourage the
use of the bikes as an alternative to cars. In addition, some tree seedlings
were donated and the use of a solar oven and solar heaters were demonstrated.
El EcoClub de la Escuela Maxei junto con el Grupo Saca La Bici y la Escuela de
Ciclismo Polibikes organizaron el evento "Saca La Bici por 350". Invitaron a
los ciudadanos de Querétaro a participar en un paseo en bicicleta en la
"BiciVía" de la calle Constituyentes. Este paseo en bicicleta fue una forma de
concientizar a las personas sobre la necesidad de reducir las emisiones de
bióxido de carbono por los vehículos automotrices y se proporcionó información
sobre las múltiples formas de contribuir a disminuir los efectos del cambio
climático.

This multimedia piece, entitled America's NEO-CON-MEN was created on July 4th, 2008 and was selected to be a part of the Bay6 Gallery and Studios one night show during the Netroots Nation Conference on Saturday, July 19th, entitled Blogging from the Right Side of the Brain. The event was attended by political writers and Netroots Nation participants across the nation who were visiting Austin during that week.
About this piece: America's NEO-CON-MEN is about exposing the true nature of those who have been instrumental in appropriating our government, stealing our basic liberties via shredding our constitution, and dividing the land that was supposed to be by and for the people through petty partisanship and subterfuge in a mad attempt at fulfilling the last crusade. They have taken our proud republic, land of the free and home of the brave, and sold our core values to the highest bidder; enslaving us to corporate entities who grind our bones and our very life's blood beneath their boot heels without recourse or remorse. They have turned the American Dream inside out, removing the checks and balances that were carefully put in place by our forefathers to separate us from tyranny, all the while enshrouded with stars and stripes and hefting the golden cross. Only by revealing their hypocrisy can we reclaim the power that was invested and entrusted in their lofty positions. At the top center is a photo of a real bald eagle who broke its beak and was starving to death, unable to feed itself, until an engineer designed the prosthetic beak shown and grafted it to the animal. The eagle has made a full recovery from this act of creativity and compassion. I can think of no greater metaphor for our the current state of our democracy, and you and I are that beak.

New Deal mural entitled "Monterey Bay" painted by Henrietta Shore in 1937. The mural is currently in the Postmaster's office on the front wall of the post office. The postmaster is happy to allow folks in to see the mural. He does not know why the mural is now in his office. He did say that at one time the mural was covered by paneling--there are nail holes in the mural that testify to this. He said it was discovered when there was an electrical problem and the workers removed the paneling and found the mural beneath. My theory is that when the lobby was renovated, it left no place to install the mural so it was put on the wall in the Postmaster's office.

Following in the footsteps of Dylan, the competition asked pupils to submit a short story, poem or picture depicting their own favourite places and spaces.
Participating schools were provided with a fascinating insight into the Swansea writer’s story through animated performances of the piece by actor Mark Montinaro and word-based workshops with Dylan Day Coordinator and poet Mab Jones.

The New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs held a medal ceremony at the Woodbridge Center Mall on Nov. 1, to honor and recognize the services of New Jerseyans veterans from the various war conflicts. New Jersey veterans from World War II through current Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom received New Jersey's Distinguished Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Korean Service Medal or Vietnam Service Medal. As part of DMAVA's Veterans Outreach Program, the ceremony marks the start of a three-day visit of the veterans outreach kiosk where veterans and their family members can learn more about benefits or entitlements they could be elible for. The show entitled "Your emotional future" is the first solo exhibition by Olafur Eliasson in Eastern Europe. It will last from 21 May to 2 October 2011 at the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv, Ukraine. The show is open from Tuesday through Sunday from 12am to 9pm. Admission is free.
The exhibition at the PinchukArtCentre is a milestone in the evolution of the artist’s oeuvre. With a total of 16 works presented on three floors – all of which, with a few exceptions, such as Beauty (1993) and Room for one colour (1997) – are from 2010/2011 and include numerous works especially created for the PinchukArtCentre.

School of Pharmacy, Hajvery University organized one day seminar entitled, "Area to be focused in Pharmacy Practice" in Pakistan on 4th February 2016, Thursday, at 11.00 am.
Dr. Zaheer-ud-din-Babar, Head of Pharmacy Practice, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland, New Zealand, visited Hajvery University. He is an International speaker, and recipient of prestigious “Research Excellence Award” from University of Auckland in 2012.
Dr. Babar has active research linkages with the leading universities in Australia, Europe, and in the Asia Pacific Region. He has also acted as a consultant for World Health Organization (WHO), Health Action International, and International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), and for the Pharmaceutical Management Agency of New Zealand. He is a reviewer of top tier health-policy journals and of funding bodies including Australian National Health and Medical Research Council. Dr Babar is the founding editor of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice (www.joppp.org).
The seminar presented by Dr. Zaheer-ud-din-Babar was informative for students and for faculty as well. He has given some excellent solutions for current problems of Pharmacy practices. He has raised the need of community Pharmacist, i.e. processing of prescription, care of patient, monitoring of drug utilization, extemporaneous preparation, and health promotion. With this addition, many native health care problems will automatically be resolved. At the end, there was the closing ceremony. Dr. Lubna Shakir, Mr. Talib Hussain, and students of different batches shared their comments about these worthwhile lectures. The Rector of Hajvery University, Dr. Khalid Pervaiz gave a thank note and positive feedback for the lectures. Prof. Dr. Khalid Pervaiz represented souvenir to Dr. Zaheer-ud-din-Babar. Dr. Babar also thanked and appreciated the management, faculty, and students, and thanked Hajvery University for inviting him. The session ended with a group photo.

Anna Hall, a marine zoologist also quoted in the article suggests showing graphic images to children to warn them of the dangers posed to sea lions. This series is a response to that suggestion and not biased propaganda as I have been accused of.

The education kit entitled “Riskland: the fun way to learn how to prevent disasters” is the outcome of a joint initiative between the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). This product was developed at the end of 2002 by the ISDR Regional Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean, in cooperation with UNICEF Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNICEF-TACRO). Initially, it was addressed for countries in the LAC region and was originally produced in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

So one day during my recent sojourn in NYC, I was walking down the street when a mighty gust of wind lifted this glue trap and sent it sailing in the direction of some nearby scaffolding. It immediately conjoured two images in my head. One was of Debra Winger in Forget Paris when a pigeon is stuck to the side of her head and I imagined the horror of the same thing happening to someone with this loaded trap. The other thought was that I was being given a glimpse into the evolutionary backstory of how pigeons came to be.
An unsigned flyer entitled “A Black Beginning / African Liberation Day / A Common Black Struggle” calls for participants for the first African Liberation Day demonstration in Washington, D.C. May 27, 1972.
The nearly all-black crowd estimated at 12,000 began at Malcolm X Park and wound its way through Embassy Row where short rallies were held at the South African and Portuguese Embassies, the Rhodesian information office and the State Department where the US was denounced for evading international sanctions by permitting trade and investment in white-controlled African countries.
At the time white settler governments ruled over Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and South Africa, and Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau were still direct colonies of Portugal. Armed liberation struggles and political resistance were underway in all four countries by the overwhelmingly black population.
The march ended on the grounds of the Washington Monument that was renamed by the marchers “Lumumba Square” after assassinated Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba.
Speakers included Osusu Sadaukai, march organizer and president of the Malcolm X Liberation University in Greensboro, NC, Amiri Baraka, Haki R. Madhubuti, George Wiley, Cleveland Sellers, Elaine Brown and Walter Fauntroy. A telegram from Kwame Ture was read to the crowd.
Speakers voiced support for the liberation movements and condemned the US for its support of the minority regimes and for its prosecution of the Vietnam war.
The first meeting of 32 independent African countries to form the Organization of African Unity was held May 25, 1963. At the meeting Africa Freedom Day, that had been celebrated on April 15, was changed to May 25 and renamed African Liberation Day.
