Taken the same day as my last post. They seemed very happy to greet each other. This went on for a minute or two. The female was already on the rocks with her ducklings when the drake arrived. He greeted the ducklings too, although not as enthusiastically. I suppose it could have been a adult child returning to visit its mother, I've seen juvenile, almost adult males do that. But I'd guess it was her mate. In any case, they definitely shared some affection. I felt double lucky to see it. It's my favorite thing to photograph. I know people who refuse to believe birds feel emotions, even though its plain as day that they do. And I just love to see them show it.

Farming yesteryear enthusiast's keenly ploughing as in olden days
A ploughing match is a contest between people who each plough part of a field. Nowadays there are usually classes for horse-drawn ploughs and for tractor ploughing. Points are awarded for straightness and neatness of the resulting furrows.
He (enthusiastically): Hey, Babe!
She (less so): Hello...
He: Ahhhhh, finally Spring...that magical time of year!
She: For what?
He: Well...you know. I was thinking we could get together
and renew acquaintenances. It's been a long winter.
She: Really? And what's in it for me but another summer of drugery of nonstop watching the kids while you and your drake buddies are out goofing off?
He: That was last year...
She: Actually, every year that I can remember!
He: Hey! A guy can change, can't he? I think this year it can be different.
She: What makes you think that?
He: I can feel it.
She: I know you're feeling something, but I don't think it's a new found interest in parental responsibility.

The 1969 Town Lake Gazebo was the first public structure built in the effort to beautify the south shore of Town Lake (now Lady Bird Lake), which was created after the construction of Longhorn Dam on the Colorado River in 1960. The Austin Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), established in the 1950s for women working in the construction industry, spearheaded and raised funds for the project. Thirty-five visionary women in Austin saw the possibility of putting something on the shores for all to enjoy and dedicate it to the construction industry.
Inspired by the then First Lady of the United States Lady Bird Johnson, a national leader in environmental beautification and later the honorary co-chair of the Town Lake Beautification Committee, the Austin chapter began planning and raising money for the structure in 1965. Almost 100 contractors and suppliers enthusiastically supported the gazebo project with donations of materials and labor. The gazebo was dedicated in June 1970, and then in 1984, the structure was named for Fannie Davis, a founding member of the Austin chapter of NAWIC.
The gazebo was designed by architect J. Sterry Nill to resemble an inverted morning glory flower. The design reflects the diverse architectural trends of the 1960s, and playfully references Frank Lloyd Wright's geometric experimentation and combination of organic material with modern forms and the rustic park architecture found in central Texas.

A 1948-built Dellow Mark I, powered by a Ford sidevalve engine of 1172cc, on the speed hill climb at Prescott on 17th April 2021. The date of first registration in the UK is February 2019.
Dellow cars were made in a factory (owned by Delsons - who produced nuts and bolts) at Alvechurch, just south of Birmingham, between 1949 and 1956. Dellow Motors Ltd was started by Ken Delingpole and Ron Lowe to produce road-going sports cars for the enthusiast to use in trials, rallies and hill-climbs.
A couple of enthusiasts watch BR Standard 4MT No. 76017 approaching Alresford with a demonstration freight train.
This was taken during the Mid Hants Railway's 2018 spring gala, and was running as the 1100 from Alton.
The 115 BR Standard 4MT locomotives were nicknamed 'pocket rockets' by enthusiasts, based upon their rapid acceleration and their explosive exhaust. Like all of British Railways' standard locomotives, it was in service for very few years - in this case, just over 12 years. Four of these locomotives survive into preservation.

Emerald Lake is one of the most admired destinations in Yoho National Park, with an unmatched diversity of both activities and landscapes suited to the enthusiastic traveler. It was discovered in 1882, when famed mountain guide Tom Wilson was led lakeside while rounding up a group of horses that had gone astray, and was immediately taken by the vivid Emerald-coloured waters.

Since the end of 2023, a new - and basically old - field of activity has opened up for the 218 series. In northern Bavaria, services are provided on the RE 2 line on the railway line KBS 855 every two hours. The area was once firmly in the hands of the 218s from the former BW Regensburg. After the turn of the millennium, the diesel locomotives of this class were completely withdrawn from the Upper Palatinate and Upper Franconia. Of course, railway enthusiasts were delighted when the return was announced, as DB Regio won the corresponding contract. Unfortunately, however, the operation is characterised by breakdowns, bad luck and mishaps and hardly a day goes by when everything runs according to plan and there are no train cancellations. On 5 September 2024, however, I was lucky on my trip to the area and the trains ran on time. In addition, the Kemptner 218 446 had a temporary intermezzo in northern Bavaria. On the morning of the day in question, I was able to photograph it near Klardorf in front of RE 4859 from Hof to Munich main station.
An enthusiast snapper is about to get a nice surprise in the form of a Rail-Head Treatment Train, which has snook up on Leicester's Platform 1.
He needs to hurry though - it won't be hanging around and, with the crew change swiftly completed, will soon be heading back in the Kettering direction on its 12 hour roundabout journey from the East Midlands to London.
The service is the previous day's 11.42pm Toton TMD - West Hampstead Thameslink (3J91), with DB Cargo 'Sheds' 66060 and 66161 topping and tailing the watery-jet consist.

The Morgan Plus 8 is a sports car built by British car maker Morgan from 1968 to 2004 and again in revised form between 2012 and 2018. Its instant and enduring popularity has been credited with saving the company and keeping the company famous during the 36 years of its manufacture. Among Morgan enthusiasts, it is deeply associated with Peter Morgan, the owner-chairman behind its design.
Design
The development of the Plus 8 was led by Maurice Owen, an engineer taken on specifically for the role. The Plus 8 prototype was based on a modified chassis from the Plus 4, altered to accept the Rover alloy block 215 cu in (3.5 L) V8, purchased from GM-Buick in 1967. Plus 4's Moss gearbox was carried over and the Salisbury 7HA axle was uprated with a limited-slip differential. The chassis was developed in stages to accommodate gearbox changes in 1973 and 1976, 1995 the body widened in 1976 to accommodate the widened chassis and the wings widened to accommodate larger tires to handle the increasing power and trend for lower profile and wider tires. The original 1968 Plus 8 was 57 inches (1,400 mm) wide and the last was 64 inches (1,600 mm) (with an optional "widebody" at 67 inches (1,700 mm)) From the 1960s and (according to all auto magazines) through the 1980s for acceleration between 20-80mph, the Plus Eight was the fastest-accelerating UK production car. To this day, early Plus 8s are frequently the winners in the 1960-1970 class in the UK.
In 2002, Morgan created a "LeMans Edition" with similar exterior feature to the 1960s Plus 4 LeMans winner. In 2003, Morgan created a 35th year "Anniversary Edition" of the Plus 8. The 35th Anniversary model was built in 100 examples and has a walnut dashboard, mesh behind the grille bars, a "LeMans style" gear knob, and a badge on the rear panel. The original brochure also referenced the fact that the Plus 8 was to be discontinued the following year.
Following the discontinuation of the Rover V8, production of Plus 8 ended in 2004. A revised Aero, powered by a 4.8-litre BMW V8 engine, was placed on an Aero chassis, with Aero 8 suspension, axles, brakes, steering, gearbox, and altered wings was introduced in 2012, They also called this model "Plus 8" and it was sold concurrently with the Aero 8 from that date until the elimination of the Aero line-up in 2020.
In 2014, Morgan created another edition called the Plus 8 'Speedster' models based on the later Aero configuration noted above. It began as a limited edition, but production was not limited to the originally advertised 60 examples. This limited run forwent the traditional roof in favor of a small fly screen and hidden roll bars behind the front seats. Pitched as an entry-level Plus 8 model, they went on sale for £69,999.

Jing'an Park, Shanghai
This park was originally a cemetery for Western expatriates in Shanghai, while this marble pavilion was a mausoleum. After the cemetery was converted into a park, the wall of the mausoleum was removed and transformed into a beautiful marble pavilion. Today it is a place for Chinese chess enthusiasts to compete in the game.
