The view of the pristine lake and the interplay of light amongst the moving clouds as they were passing over at rapid speed, creating formation of light and shadow was a real enriching visual and a delight to the already wonderstuck mind...

"Trees enrich our lives throughout the year. They reassure us with the rustle of their leaves, give us shade to soothe our overheated bodies and they bring delight to us when we watch birds nest in their boughs. However, it is only during the fall that they wave flamboyant foliage that seems to demand our attention." ~ Author Unknown

Another from this past fall...it was a foggy Saturday morning; one of those days when most people choose to stay inside, but not me, had to grab the camera and head out for some atmospheric shots....glad I did...feel free to hit the letter "L" on your keyboard for a better look :-)

Have a great Wednesday...thanks for all your visits!!!!!

A new day begins with the suns golden kiss on the low waters of Lake Cascade. It had rained hard overnight and the air was clean and the ground saturated, enriching the hues and tones. These are the mornings that one never forgets.

A new version of an one of my first works. I corrected the composition a bit and used a texture to enrich the color palette.

Such a wonderful color and tone. It enriches the area where it stands. It’s tendency is to enhance any vegetation nearby. I think beauty like this can’t go ignored so why not take the photo opportunity to capture, share and save a piece of God’s natural beauty. Thanks for viewing my work. Gratitude and Kindness aren’t partial to any species as it’s meant to be part of life’s beauty for all to witness.

No matter what the results, the act of searching will always enrich my work. (Doug Dawson)

At the time / this construction was composed / every item had about / equal significance. // Now some have been enriched. // Now, the composition is almost completed.

Desert nights

In the dark corners of earth She lays peacefully hearing nothing but the sounds of her breath as she is immersed by the soft tender gold ivory sands of earths rich desert. Her dunes curves of grace . Her sensitive expression , delicate as the desert rose as her colours shine through her skin soft smooth as the gold sands shining with her moon casting shadows that dance with her eternally with her sun and moon and she becomes their rich desert caressed by warmth of their light as her colours shine brightly with the stars shimmering with her enriching us with her inner world of colours that light up the soul .....

May the 1st is a public holiday across a lot of the world, Kazakhstan included. So our day begins leisurely, though in reality we are starting out on a long drive west.

The A17 road runs within a couple of kilometres from the Qarmet Coal Preparation Plant no.1 which serves the Shakhtinsk area collieries. It is fair to say we had a few problems around this area a year prior. Today the sun shines strongly in contrast to last year. We caught its mood well then.

Pulling up we find TEM2U-8750 shunting the coal receiving side of the facility so Sven and Myself go up onto the overbridge to take some photos. Walking off back to the car parked down below, where Jane awaits, we see an Ochrona pickup approaching slowly below. Clearly here for us, they pull up. We must walk down and meet them. Unbelievable, already our activity is over here...

We walk over and speak to them. They ask us where we are from, they seem friendly. Yes, they are here to see what we are up to. Sven has a print of a photo taken here last year, and some from other places also. They get out of their truck and discuss the pictures. Sven presents them with the print taken from the bridge here, and photos of the exchange are made on both parties phones, we pose in the sun. The bank holiday mood and fine weather make this feel a much different place to what it was a year ago when Arcelor Mittal were in the process of being forced out.

So an idea is quickly formed. There is an old relic deep within the territory of this plant. We would have been in a lot of trouble a year ago if we walked in to record it. So we ask. They say that its fine although it is unclear that they know what we are talking about. We bid our farewells and then drive around to the rear of the unloading bunker from where this train is being extracted from. Should we?

TEM2U-8750 belonging to Qarmet, Karagandy, working at the Coal Enrichment Plant no.1 at Kyzhyl on the Shakhtinsk colliery system shunts the west side of the complex on May Day 2025, a day where the plant is shut down one day, for the holiday. May the 1st 2025.

Just like our house cats it seems lions enjoy shredding toilet paper as well. lol

Nuru thinking this was the best thing ever.

A great form of enrichment. Something new, something exciting, something different

Breeding in a pond in what was a uranium enrichment plant, these little guys are just too cute to ignore.. glad I had an opportunity to photograph them.

You see me here after a day of enrichment activities (legit and otherwise) that have me troubled. Let me explain:

A female lion cub swims after a ball in the moat at the Smithsonian's National Zoo while her family looks on.

Going to the zoo early enabled me to see my friend, Loui, acting like a canine! He's usually sleepy in the middle of the day.

I watched the zookeeper throw mealworms into the air. The blue-faced honeyeaters would swoop down and catch the mealworms mid-air.

Their accuracy wasn't 100%, but pretty close!

Cologne, Agnes-Viertel, graffiti on Hansaring.

The graffiti directly in front of the train tracks at Hansaring 74 has been enriching the city of Cologne since August 2019 and is based on the idea of making people waiting to think. The painting shows the city of Cologne, outlined with its districts, which can be divided by the city's 300 renowned graffiti sprayers. The Rhine is also depicted and runs red through the graffiti. Inspired by a sketch by Bene Schweikert, which was shown as part of the Graffiti & Street Art Festival BundeskunstHALL OF FAME in the Bundeskunsthalle in 2015, the artists Julian Krieger and Babak Soltani, in collaboration with the Dedicated Store Cologne, created the first major work created by graffiti sprayers for graffiti sprayers. The symbolism of the graffiti gave rise to the hashtag #keinstreetart.

The plastic ball contains some delicious food for the North American river otters. The problem for Jet, the male otter, is that the ball is hanging from a chain. Removing his breakfast is no easy task!

In the wild, food is not served to animals in bowls. Zoos use "enrichment" techniques to make the residents solve problems and work for their meals. Therefore, they're behaving the way they would in a natural environment.

Goats love almost any kind of enrichment.

Violet, the muntjac deer, has recently given birth to her second child. While I was unable to see the fawn, Mom did come out to check for some food. Unfortunately, the lettuce was gone from the clips on the enrichment piece, so Violet had to settle on food from a bowl.

During this time of quarantine, it seems everyone is doing it.

The Adler Planetarium, the first institution of its type in the Western Hemisphere, opened to the public in May 1930. With its neighbors, the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium, it forms a significant cultural complex that enriches its visitors' knowledge of the sky, the earth, and water. A connection that is further enhanced by the spectacular lakefront setting of the complex on Lake Michigan which evokes each of these components. The Adler Planetarium and Astronomical Museum was given to the people of Chicago in 1930 by Max Adler, a retired senior officer of Sears, Roebuck & Company who had been deeply involved in philanthropic activities for many years. In addition to funding the building and the planetarium project, Adler purchased and donated to the city an extensive collection of antique scientific instruments for display in the planetarium. At the time of the planetarium's dedication in 1930, Adler explained his reasons for building it. He hoped to further the progress of science and to enable people to "observe the action of the heavenly bodies as heretofore only astronomers could do." He also felt that if people realized the enormity of the universe and the smallness of their part in it, they would be humbled and come to see the interdependence of all mankind, and thus the futility of force as a means of solving problems. The use of the planetarium would "emphasize that all mankind, rich and poor, powerful and weak, as well as all nations here and abroad constitute part of one universe."

On February 27, 1987, the Adler Planetarium was added to the National Register of Historic Places and to the list of National Historic Landmarks. More information about the planetarium can be found on the original documents submitted to the NRHP for listing consideration or their website on the links below:

Dungeness is a headland on the coast of Kent, England, formed largely of a shingle beach in the form of a cuspate foreland. It shelters a large area of low-lying land, Romney Marsh. Dungeness is also the name of the power station and a few other nearby buildings near the beach, and of an important ecological site at the same location.

Dungeness is one of the largest expanses of shingle in the world. It is of international conservation importance for its geomorphology, plant and invertebrate communities and birdlife. This is recognised and protected mostly through its conservation designations as a National Nature Reserve (NNR), a Special Protection Area (SPA), a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and part of the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) of Dungeness, Romney Marsh and Rye Bay.

There is a remarkable variety of wildlife living at Dungeness, with over 600 different types of plant: a third of all those found in Britain. It is one of the best places in Britain to find insects such as moths, bees and beetles, and spiders; many of these are very rare, some found nowhere else in Britain.

The short-haired bumblebee, Bombus subterraneus, was last found in the UK in 1988, but has survived in New Zealand after being shipped there more than 100 years ago. It is to be reintroduced at Dungeness. It is planned that the first bees will be introduced in the spring of 2010.

The flooded gravel pits on Denge Beach, both brackish and fresh water, provide an important refuge for many migratory and coastal bird species. The RSPB has a bird sanctuary there and every year thousands of bird watchers descend on the peninsula to catch a glimpse of a rare bird from the bird observatory.

One of the most remarkable features of the site is an area known as 'the patch' or, by anglers, as 'the boil'. The waste hot water and sewage from the Dungeness nuclear power stations are pumped into the sea through two outfall pipes, enriching the biological productivity of the sea bed and attracting seabirds from miles around.

Beach fishing is popular at Dungeness, with the area being a nationally recognised cod fishing venue in the winter.

The name Dungeness derives from Old Norse nes: "headland", with the first part probably connected with the nearby Denge Marsh. Popular etymology ascribes a French origin to the toponym, giving an interpretation as "dangerous nose".

Are painted fifty-six different musical instruments, antique instruments and other left the artist's imagination.

The sanctuary of Our Lady of Miracles, was erected in 1498 by the people of Saronno worthy to give hospitality to the statue of the Madonna of the miracle (a statue of the second half of the fourteenth century, then placed in a chapel on the road Varesina) held dispenser of miraculous healings . The Lombardy region is enriched so a new Marian sanctuary that soon became an important destination of devotion and which was enriched with the time of formidable art treasures.

The San Diego Zoo’s giant pandas, female Bai Yun (pronounced by-YOON) and male Xiao Liwu (pronounced sshyaoww-lee-WOO) were treated to some special enrichment this morning (March 2, 2017), in celebration of World Wildlife Day. Zoo volunteers created banners and several decorative items for the bears’ habitats, in which keepers placed some of the bears’ favorite treats.
