---
The FED-2, which was manufactured from 1955 onward, cannot conceal its development history from a Leica II copy in its outer appearance and parts of its construction, but it has many distinguishing features and further developments.
A sad current reference that should not remain unmentioned is the headquarters of the manufacturer FED in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. And the name "FED" is derived (according to Wikipedia) from Felix Dzerzhinsky, the founder of the Soviet secret service Cheka.

the circular one is just a little over an inch and a half (4cm) in diameter
This three-room building (house + mudroom + storeroom) was made of pine-tree half-beams. Two dates - 1833 and 1861 are engraved above the storeroom’s door. Inside of the house there is a longitudinal washed beam with an engraved cross. Icons on the walls are decorated by embroidered towels. A painted trunk box stays instead of a table. Embroidered shirts and belts hand on a rail. The stove, windows and inside of the mound are decorated by painted scallops. The furniture of the house was mostly immovable in the past – the pil (rest area), benches, shelves and rail for garments were made with the house simultaneously. There were only several pieces of movable furniture: a table, a stool, a trunk box, a crib, small table, several small stools. The stove, located to the left from the entrance, occupied almost a quarter of the house. It is decorated by specific local patterns. A big cozy bed is located next to the stove.
Vulnerary herbs hang in the mudroom. Our ancestors could not even imagine their life without them. They used the herbs to cure diseases, as well as to make hot drinks like tea. They made themselves acquainted with real tea only at the end of 19th Century. Before this time, they drank tinctures and decoctions made of different plants. Each Saturday, before a sunset, the whole family took bath in a vat with broth of vulnerary herbs, while herb itself was used as a washcloth. May be this was the reason why Ukrainians have almost avoided pox and cholera pandemics, that killed so many people in the Western Europe. Strong smell of the herbs bayed different insects.

Stockholm
Skansen open-air museum founded in 1891. Five centuries of Swedish history, from north to south, with a real sense of the past all around in the historical buildings and dwellings, peopled by characters in period dress.
Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.

An interesting place, this. Who would call their restaurant "Sea gull shit"?
Very good food covering all tastes, and no guano in sight.
And I can't remember what was in the glass - a beer I think - the bottle behind made the fluid look green
I love assembling collections, both real and otherwise,
from nature, friends, beach walks, and assorted containers.
The small glass jar in the center had fallen, crackled and was being held together with poured acrylic over seashells. Although the grape hyacinths are artificial, I love having them in bloom all year long! I've tried to include a more focused view of the engraved "LOVE IS" lettering on the rock, but haven't succeeded too well in maintaining a balance in the composition.
However, I adore these elements all sharing a windowsill in my zen room overlooking our gardens and a small yellow birdhouse in the right which has had many visits from our Carolina wrens.
The yellow heart rock and the *LOVE IS* stone are both from my dear friend, Jonathon, who is all heart!

My 31st image on explore (30/11/2022) reaching No. 186!
An interpretation of the Scottish flag, derived from an inscription on the grave of Captain John Woodford (1741-1800) in Holyrood Abbey, Edinburgh.
Part of my flags project, where I (attempt to) evoke the flag of a nation I am visiting through a particular image.
Taken with my Nikon D40, fitted with a Tamron 70-300mm F4/5.6 DI LD (Nikon AFS) lens and processed in GIMP and Photoscape.

This engraved family monogram speaks to me as the like of an Victorian 'Lover's Knot' found often as the design for brooches of that era.
