हिरोजी इंदुलकर हे छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांचे बांधकाम प्रमुख होते. त्यांनी शिवरायांच्या स्वराज्याची राजधानी रायगडचे बांधकाम अत्यंत मजबूत असे बांधले. आत्ताच्या कोणत्याही सिव्हिल इंजिनियरला लाजवेल असे बांधकाम कौशल्य हिरोजी इंदुलकरांकडे होते .

शिवराज्याभिषेकाच्या वेळेस खुद्द छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांनी हिरोजीस रायगडावरील प्रासाद, उद्याने, राजपथ ,स्तंभ ,गजशाला ,नरेंद्रसदन बारा महाल अशा अनेक इमारती, तळी, मनोरे, रस्ते, देवळे इत्यादी बांधकाम करण्याचे काम त्यांच्या हाती दिले होते .आणि त्याची जबाबदारी त्यांच्याकडे सोपविली होती. गड,किल्ले बांधण्याचे काम हिरोजी आपल्या देखरेखीखाली पूर्ण करून घेत होते.हिरोजीने बांधकाम करत असताना किल्ला निम्म्यावर बांधत आणला आणि पैसे संपले .हिरोजीना समजेना काय करावे ,महाराजांनी तर जबाबदारी टाकली आहे ,किल्ला तर पूर्ण केला पाहिजे तर पैसा शिल्लक नाही. हिरोजीने अपूर्ण काम पूर्ण केले .आपला राहता वाडा ,आपली जमीन विकून बायका-मुलांसह रायगडावर राहायला आले .पैसा नसल्यामुळे ते झोपडी करून राहू लागले .आणि मराठ्यांची राजधानी त्यांनी पूर्ण बांधून काढली.
