'The Engagement Ring'
Part of the Vivid Sydney 2024 'Drone Show'.
Saturday night, 8th June, 2024.
Photographed from the Cahill Walkway on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Campbells Cove and 'The Rocks' make up the foreground.
And for a song, to accompany this image, I have added, as suggested by Daniel Healy, 'Notice The Ring' by Chris Issak:

Although initially attracted by the shiny gold and sparkly gemstones, Brian eventually realised there was nothing to eat here - move along, move along...
For Macro Mondays theme 'Keepsake'. These rings are an assortment of engagement and wedding rings for myself, my husband and my mother. Sadly, due to arthritis in my fingers I am no longer able to wear my well-loved gold rings, which are now on a chain on my desk.
No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph and the rings were washed with warm soapy water.
A diamond is a piece of coal that handled stress exceptionally well!!! Unknown.......... Rings from the love of my life...how I miss him. Love you, Kraig. <3
Macro Mondays 'ring' theme.
My wedding and engagement rings, these are 46 years old. I haven't worn them for many years as my fingers swell up too much to risk not being able to get them off. White gold was very popular back then.
The image measures 1.5" in width

Another engagement shot.
After a busy weekend away, I will try to catch up with comments tomorrow.
A ring, a symbol with an extremely important message!
You love each other and you have made a committment!
Don't wait until she asks you for it.

My friend got engaged and asked me to take a few pictures for announcements. This was one that came out pretty well.
This is a wide-field image of the field around the North Star, Polaris, at upper right. Near Polaris is the semi-circle of the Engagement or Diamond Ring asterism, with Polaris appearing as the diamond on the ring. At lower left is the next star in the handle of the Little Dipper, Delta Ursa Minoris. aka Yildun. The actual North Celestial Pole is just below Polaris in this orientation.
The field of view is about 8 degrees wide by 5.5 degrees high, so larger than most binoculars in width.
This is a stack of 8 x 4-minute exposures with the William Optics RedCat 51mm astrograph at f/4.9 and Canon EOS Ra at ISO 1600, with an additional exposure taken through light clouds moving in blended in to add the star glows. Unguided on the Astro-Physics Mach1 mount. Diffraction spikes added with Astronomy Tools actions.

Even though a distance away, you can spot the Washington Memorial.

I did a similar shot a long time ago but I thought it would be nice to retry the same shot for this week's challenge! Of course, it is Valentine's Day which makes it another good reason for doing this!

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.
Love and be loved, for there is no feeling like it in the world.
Everybody has somebody that loves them, even those that think they do not, do, they just don't know it yet.

So, Jeff was performing in an opera last weekend and my plan was to go to the Friday night show. We got home from work Friday and were just laying around the house before going to the show. I was lying on the couch reading my new Entertainment Weekly and Jeff said he was gonna play his guitar for a little while. This was not out of the ordinary as Jeff often plays his guitar after work. He then said he wrote a new song and was a little nervous about debuting it. I responded that I didn't have to pay attention to him and could just keep reading my magazine. He replied, "No, ah, you should pay attention." I wondered if something was up but immediately thought it couldn't be because we needed to leave for the opera in 30 minutes and Jeff was just being his usual sweet self and I shouldn't be so suspicious.
The song started and it was very pretty but silly (which, again, led to my not suspecting it). He talked about how year ago his life dream was to be "two parts Hugh Hefner, and one Sean Connery" and that maybe he'd "settle down at age 53." Then, however, he talked about how his life had changed since he met me and said a bunch of sweet things about me, which led to the lyric "Come on, now where did I put that ring?" (at this point he took the box out of his pocket). I then responded by screaming, "No! Shut up! Are you serious?"
The song then ended like this:
"You're my partner, my playmate, my very best friend, ah
But what I really wonder is: Will you marry me, Brenda?"
We hugged and cried and I said yes. Then, he put the ring on my finger. The middle stone is actually a diamond that had been in a necklace Jeff's dad had given to his mom. And now it is mine and I couldn't love it more.
What better adventure to set off on, than a truly beautiful relationship based on love and support for one another?
On Christmas Eve I got down on my knee and asked her to be my wife, my partner in life, whether good or bad, and to let me stand by her side through it all. Not once did she say yes... she said yes five times!
The proposal was not designed to be on Christmas Eve- it was about the location. It just so happened that we were driving past the waterfalls on Christmas Eve, and now this is yet another part of our story...!

Year Sixteen Of My 365 Project
These were my Mom’s rings that she got when she eloped with my dad March 4, 1938. It makes me smile to picture my dad going into the nicest jewelry store in town to get these.
Two things that go together are definitely an engagement ring and a wedding ring. (So naturally I just wear one instead of both.)

My parents were married on Boxing Day 1930, so my father would have given my mother this ring sometime before that but I don't know when. My mother told me that they had known each other for three years before they were married.
