“The officers we honor today, like all in law enforcement, knew the risks that came each day when they put on their uniform and badge,” said Department of Public Safety Director John M. Britt. “Each of them made the ultimate sacrifice to protect their fellow Missourians and to make their communities better places to live. We can never repay the debt we owe them and their families.”
I passed by B&H Photo on my walk over to Javits Center to visit the International Motorcycle Show in January 2011. I suppose it was a good time to park illegally as the metermaids wouldn't be scooting around the city.

I've only ridden this section of trail a few times since it was installed and it has become absolutely clear in that very short time that this isn't really a bike lane. It's a parking lane that has been mispainted. If it was an actual bike lane; with all its appropriate marking and signage, then the police who are tasked with enforcing the parking laws would actually be obeying said laws instead of flagrantly ignoring them for their own selfish convenience.

Nelson Fuentes partner Clarisa Lepreto and her child Andrea. Clarisa spoke to people at the vigil.
Community members held a vigil in front of the regional offices of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in honor of Nelson Fuentes , father and community leader, who has been detained since January 17th. Nelson is on his last legal option. The community is taking a stand to show their support for Nelson and his family. Community members have collected signatures in support of Nelson and delivered these to Boston ICE Field Office Director Todd Lyons during the vigil.
Immigrant leader and father, Nelson Fuentes, was detained Jan. 17 by Immigration and Customs Enforcement inside New Hampshire’s U.S. District Court. Nelson was scheduled to appear in court and was accompanied by his family and over 50 community members who witnessed as agents took him away from his eight month old daughter against the Judge’s wishes. After asking for ICE agents to identify themselves in the courtroom, Judge Joseph Laplante ordered that Nelson return in 48 hours because he did not want his family to see him detained inside the court. Yet ICE agents waited until the judge left the courtroom to go against his wishes, push through outraged community members, and apprehended Nelson.
Last year, Nelson was a passenger of a car that was stopped due to a traffic violation and turned over to ICE. Massachusetts residents working and traveling to New Hampshire continue to be detained due to the collaboration of ICE and local law enforcement. These collaborations have added to the family separation crisis rampant across the United States that continues to affect over 11 million undocumented immigrants here and at the border. Community advocates are alarmed at these traffic stops which are only increasing and expose undocumented immigrants to detention on site or when they go before judges to resolve municipal traffic violations.
Community members from Massachusetts and New Hampshire are demanding that ICE #FreeNelson and are urging elected officials to publicly stand in support of Nelson and use their power to fight for his family to stay together.
