Petra (Arabic: البتراء, Al-Batrāʾ; Ancient Greek: Πέτρα), originally known as Raqmu (Nabataean Arabic: الرقيم), is a historical and archaeological city in southern Jordan. Petra lies on the slope of Jabal Al-Madbah in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah valley that run from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. Established possibly as early as the 4th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataean Kingdom. The Nabataeans were nomadic Arabs who invested in Petra's proximity to the trade routes by establishing it as a major regional trading hub.
The trading business gained the Nabataeans considerable revenue, and Petra became the focus of their wealth. The earliest recorded historical reference to the city was when an envious Greek dynasty attempted to ransack the city in 312 BC. The Nabataeans were, unlike their enemies, accustomed to living in the barren deserts, and were able to repel attacks by utilizing the area's mountainous terrain. They were particularly skillful in harvesting rainwater, agriculture and stone carving. The Kingdom's capital continued to flourish until the 1st century AD when its famous Al-Khazneh facade was constructed, and its population peaked at an estimated 20,000 inhabitants.
Encroaching troops of the Roman Empire in 106 AD forced the Nabataeans to surrender. The Romans annexed and renamed the Kingdom to Arabia Petraea. Petra's importance declined as sea trade routes emerged, and after a 363 earthquake destroyed many structures. The Byzantine Era witnessed the construction of several Christian churches. By 700, the city became an abandoned place where only a handful of nomads grazed goats. It remained an unknown place until it was rediscovered by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812, sparking renewed interest in the city.
The city is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Another name for Petra is the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved. It is a symbol of Jordan, as well as Jordan's most-visited tourist attraction. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. I made a new LoH team today! I’ve been playing a bit of Terraria lately and I discovered that, in game, there are three forms of combat: magic, melee, and ranged weapons. Using those three criteria, I made three new heroes to join the ranks of the Saviors. L to R
Mage- A sorcerer with an assortment of magic rods, spell books, and talismans to attack enemies and defend himself.
Gladiator- (heavily inspired by Roman) A fearless warrior with lightweight yet incredibly dense armor and two double edged swords. The swords can sever objects with ease.
Firearm- A tech genius with twin machine guns and a jet pack that can fly for short distances. He named his guns “Obliterate” and “Decimate”.

Every day at work I come across people lamenting the decline of some body functionality. It's a tough thing to come to grips with in an aging or sick body but it's also true that inactivity is an insidious enemy. In light of this, we took advantage of a fresh snowfall to get out of the house on the weekend. It was a feel good effort - despite the wet pants from sprawling out in the snow to get this point of view!

Trumpty Dumbty referred to Portland as a war-ravaged hell hole. We are bracing ourselves for the administration's plan to send National Guard troops here to clean up the mess that does not exist.
There is no hell hole here. We are a mid-sized American city with the same challenges as every city. Homelessness, drug use, housing shortages and out of control inflation. But also, it is a wonderful place to live, largely because of the people who are here. Diverse, caring, loving, real people. Vibrant streets, both suburban and commercial. Great neighborhoods, parks, music and food scene. We love it here, I'm proud to call it home.
Portland’s mayor said this, "This federal mobilization is a distraction. Imagine if the federal government sent instead 100 teachers or 100 engineers or 100 addiction specialists."
If there is such a thing as a “hell hole”, its entrance is the oval office of the White House and the enemies of democracy within.

On February 27, 2022, the government of Ukraine announced that UR-82060, the only Antonov An-225 Mriya, had been destroyed by enemy forces on February 24, 2022. It was reportedtly undergoing maintenance inside its hangar at Antonov Airport (GML/UKKM) at Hostomel, northwest of Kyiv, Ukraine.
The world's largest aircraft had a maximum take-off weight of 1,410,000 pounds / 640,000 kilograms. It first flew on December 21, 1988. Its last flight was on February 5, 2022, when it operated as ADB3120 from Billund, Denmark to Hostomel.
It is seen here climbing out from runway 06L at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario. It was departing as ADB305F (Antonov Airlines) to Anchorage, Alaska.
Mriya means Dream in Ukrainian. May the dream to build at least one replacement for this amazing Ukrainian aircraft eventually come true.

I had the privilege of being invited to document the new
SPARKS & VISIONS festival.
A big THANK YOU to all musicians & Anastasia Wolkenstein
for 3 days of exciting music !
All my multiples are done in camera at the moment.
So placement/zoom is quite instinctive & can´t be "arranged" after the fact.
I think this is in accordance to JAZZ (specifically of the free/experimental kind which i do love), as this music too is improvised on the spot & either isn´t repeatable at will.

My thoughts are my enemies!
Indecision, self-doubt, lack of trust/confidence, judge myself too much, anxiety, constantly criticize and find faults with what I do. My inner enemy holds me back, tire to take away all joy in life.
We just to have to be aware of this monster inside of us, understand its gameplan and overpower its domoralizing voice.
Deadshot again! This time from his appearances on Justice League/ Justice League Unlimited. This was made to go with my 2006/8 Bat-Rogues cause I always felt like they were supposed to be partially based on the animated series versions.
The Head was once a Peeves head, Beetle torso, Sith Trooper legs.
I really love how this turned out.
