Close Encounters - One of those special moments that is permanently etched in your mind when you encounter and photograph a creature of such stunning beauty.
In a rare encounter, a Port of Montreal job is backing up after bringing the intermodal cars at left here. Meanwhile CN 543 with NS power at right waits for the switcher to clear so it can back up to the intermodal traffic. A brief period of sun lights up the scene..... just ten minutes earlier it had been hailing!
Coyote turns around to check me out. Coyotes on the hunt came around today... saw four of them in a group. They were chasing rabbits. Don't think they caught one. This is the first coyote I saw and a rabbit chase followed. — in San Felipe, Baja California.

The story again for those who didn't see the B&W version:
Two months ago when I was on a morning walk near home I had a close encounter with a yearling moose. It was really curious and kept following me around! It continued to eat calmly even when it was only 2-3 meters away. It even tried to walk all the way up to me, but since they can be dangerous I didn't let it, even though it didn't seem threatening at all. What a wonderful experience!

Two hummingbirds (Colibri thalassinus), having an encounter in the air, at the highlands of Costa Rica. Hummingbirds are aggressive for a good reason—they can't afford to share flowers during times when not many blossoms are available because they may have to wander a long way after nectar is depleted. This aggression is so deeply ingrained that they just can't figure out that feeders are different.
Last week we went to Hakone GORA Park and for the first time in my life I took a macro shot of a red hibiscus flower. Believe me, it look so much nicer and clearer when I was looking through the viewfinder.
I mentioned once before how amazing it is to see something in nature that you didn't set out to see. Well, this was one of those stories. Out looking for other wildlife, out of nowhere comes along this lone wolf. It was just so beautiful as it smelled it's way along the tundra. Though I have seen wolf previous to this encounter, I was never on the ground with them at eye level, especially with so few people around. I felt strangely comfortable with its presence. It was a day that left me with tears in my eyes, a great sense of gratitude, and of course, a great big smile. A day that I'll never forget. That's what makes being out in nature so amazing ... it's more that just about us ... so much more.

In an old office of the Ministry, the meeting with the team from the Ministry of the future took place. Alex was amazed and admired as he saw the woman crossing the strange portal with determination. He realized she held a peculiar object in one hand and wondered if it was the device that generated the interdimensional portals.
The woman exuded a unique blend of elegance akin to that of a party with exotic elements. Her attire combined shimmering fabrics with touches of vivid colors and striking ornaments, creating an image that seemed to be taken from a surrealist world.
The boss, Diego, briefly explained how the encounter with his future counterpart occurred. He also recounted that they were the ones who sought to contact the past once they had the appropriate technology. Apparently, a catastrophe had disrupted communications through the portals in their future, and only when they had the suitable technology could they return to the past.
They had been quite mysterious and cautious when talking about the history from their time to ours. Despite being asked to share portal technology, they had refused, arguing that it would interfere with the past...
