It's a bloomin' long day when you take your exercise first thing. And once again Adrian chops the top off a mast!
The Emmy Schulte being pulled by the MSC's tugboats, Viceroy and Volant having been moored at Stanlow for three days.
I spent several early mornings down here during the first lockdown. It's a ten minute ride to get to from my house. I went with the initial intention of flying the drone to see the outlet of the stream that runs from Capenhurst through Great Sutton, Little Sutton and Rivacre valley, under the ship canal and out into the Mersey. There were a lot of photos of the stream in full flood on local social media groups and I knew it would make for an interesting shot. However when I got the drone out and looked at my operator ID I realised my licence is out of date. It ran out 19/01/21 so no flying alas.
A little further on is this old landing stage area and the ship canal widens into a cut with moorings for tankers to wait for the tide to change.
At 144m long with a draft of 6.5m this is about as large a tanker as the ship canal can handle. It's hit and miss whether you get to see a tanker but they do seem to leave their moorings just before sunrise which is ideal. Even if it's a miss it's a lovely place to watch the sun rise. I got lucky this morning.

I live in Los Angeles and I am very lucky to have the opportunity to attend a lot of film screenings (at least, I get to do that when there isn’t a Pandemic going on). My wife and I were at a screening when I saw this beautiful Emmy Award in this gorgeous cabinet.that had been built for it. Luckily, I always have some sort of camera with me or nearby. I had my little Canon Powershot 110SX and I got this shot of the Emmy.

Hello beautiful friends. Could I please ask for some votes on one of my images. Image number #7. Forever thankful!!
Jay Patchett, my father, was a Packard guy his entire life. This was his fourth and most humble Packard. Dad found her in Texas in 1994 and she spent the next 24 years in Oklahoma with lots of road trips to Hershey and other events in the car collector calendar. For several years, the Clipper was Dad's daily driver, with the only other car at the house being his first Packard, a 1939 Super 8 convertible.
This car was the most stripped-down car Packard could build in 1953. They stripped away the luxury features in order to sell it at a Buick price. A 1953 Chevy Belair would have set you back $1850 while the Clipper would have been $2540.
When Dad sent the first pictures of his new Packard in 1994, the color was a shock! "Uhhhh, did they do those as a two-tone?" After a paint job, Dad headed west to Denver where I joined him on a trip to Reno for that year's Packard gathering. I-80 at 80 MPH and she still got almost 16 MPG. On the way back, we tackled the loneliest road in America, US 50, straight across the Nevada emptiness.
According to available records, this 1953 Packard Clipper was originally sold to a Colorado buyer. I have that old title. She came into my care in 2018 and after dealing with brake and overdrives issues, she began enjoying being back in Colorado where she started her motoring career. She also began a career in pictures that year. Hey, a car of mine has to work for a living.
Emmy the Clipper has appeared in three video pieces, two promotional pieces where she appeared as the PBS12, Time Machine and in a piece for PBS on the forced perspective work, Kenneth and I do.
She also appears in the background of a few of our images, doing a sort of, Alfred Hitchcock like cameo appearance. She seems to enjoy impersonating Sir Alfred.
"How did she come to be called Emmy?" you may ask. For that, we must credit a TV Director colleague, Bill MacAllister. He got his first look at the car during an election debate we held at Denver8 TV.
Bill was teasing me, suggesting I tart the old girl up like a common trollop by replacing her hood ornament with one of my vintage microphones or an Emmy statue.
Then, Bill had a moment of brilliance, "Have you named her yet"?
"Emmy" was the perfect name for a sweet little old lady Packard.
The outrageous color has grown on me.
This is NOT a forced perspective photograph but a real 1/1 scale car in front of a real background (with hazy, wildfire smoke filled skies).
At the Daytime Emmys for my nomination for Cash Cab. Lost to the legendary Bob Barker - couldn't have lost to a better guy!

How much is real? So much to question
An epidemic of the mannequins
Contaminating everything
When thought came from the heart
It never did right from the start
Just listen to the noises
(No more sad voices)
Before you tell yourself
It's just a different scene
Remember it's just different from what you've seen
I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
And all I know is that it feels like forever
When no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head
Emmy is getting ready to start her trip to Junie Moon. First she'll make a stop to visit Christina for her real wardrobe and then she's off to the Variety Fair.

Emmy loves to go walking - the high-point of her day (I like walking too) :) She surveys her territory and reads her "doggie messages" while I can literally feel my blood pressure dropping as I enjoy Mother Nature's handiwork.

"Nature always wears the colors of the spirit."

Ivy: We are going to the Emmys!
Holly: I am not going.
Rosy: And we got these beautiful gowns that are 150% polyester or foam or plastic or something.
Holly: It can not be 150%! They are hideous my skin is beginning to itch.
Ivy: It is so exciting. We were warned not to stand next to an open flame or our gowns could ignite.
Holly: I am not going.
Rosy: But Emily Deschanel will be there.
Holly: I look ridicu.....Emily Deschanel?!
We celebrated Prince's fist birthday when this photo was taken. Emmy watches over him in the background.
This photo is a picture of Emmy and a mix of a reflection of me taking the photo and our driveway with my wife's car and neighbors' homes behind me and a view through our home beginning with Emmy on the back of the blanketed sofa through our living and dining area to the windows looking to our back yard.
