Die Königin-Emma-Brücke (niederländisch Koningin Emmabrug) oder „Pontjesbrug“ ist eine charakteristische Pontonbrücke im Zentrum von Willemstad auf Curaçao. Sie treibt auf der „Sint Annabaai“ und verbindet die Stadtteile Punda und Otrabanda. Die Brücke ist keine feste Uferverbindung, sondern sie kann von Otrabanda aus an das Ufer gedreht werden, um die Durchfahrt zwischen der Karibik und der St-Anna-Bucht zu ermöglichen. Diese Konstruktion ist einzigartig in der Welt. Daher kommt auch der Spitzname Swinging Old Lady (‚Drehende alte Dame‘). Sie wurde 1888 erbaut und nach der niederländischen Königin Emma benannt (Wikipedia).
The Queen Emma Bridge (Dutch: Koningin Emmabrug; nickname Swinging Old Lady) is a pontoon bridge across St. Anna Bay in Curaçao. It connects the Punda and Otrobanda quarters of the capital city, Willemstad. The bridge is hinged and opens regularly to enable the passage of oceangoing vessels. On the opposite end from the hinge is a small shelter where an operator controls two diesel engines turning propellers. The propellers are mounted perpendicular to the length of the bridge and allow it to swing parallel to the shore. The process only takes a few minutes to complete. The bridge was built in 1888 (Wikipedia).

Emma, our rescue cat, whose 2 year old birthday she celebrated march 15, apparently does not take kindly to her photo being taken during one of her many catnaps ;-)
Returning to old photo sessions to see how I would process them years later.
Living spaces-environmental studies
Emma was, unusually for my photography, a professional model. Originally from California, Emma is a travelling model, who was spending a couple of weeks in London while touring the world (including Nepal) with her model/photographer friends. Emma contacted me to ask for a photo session, so here she is in the Airbnb she was sharing with her friends.
Sometimes, just sometimes, life's problems can be (temporarily) solved with a bit of quiet and a good stretch!

Emma voted in her first presidential election yesterday and has been following the issues closely since the early going. She shared with us today that she joined 1000+ students in the ISU quad last night in a peaceful celebration.
