Artie's feeds my expensive whims.
When I wanted to paint my bathroom - Artie's sold me paint. Blue, yellow and pink - I couldn't decide. (My bathroom is now white - what was I thinking!?!)
When I decided that I wanted to try canning - Artie's sold me all of the supplies that I needed to make 9 jars of marmalade. (cookbook and all) -I bought the oranges from the fruit stand by the entrance to the #1 train.
When I needed coat hooks - you got it (of course they cost $7.00 each GASP) but they work. And two days later Artie's sold me Spackle and drywall anchors - when I found out that you don't just screw coat hooks into a wall!
Artile's has sold me a box cutter and twine! (insert really kinky graphic here) & Pruners and potting soil. And so many other things that a dilettante could want when something catches her fancy.
Wow - as I re-read this I realize that I am like Martha Stewart on crack. WTF? Artie's is totally my dealer when it comes to enabling my home improvement addiction.
Yes, some people make their way to 23rd street and save a few bucks at Home Depot - but I like my little 14th street Hardware Store.

More importantly, they have a staff that is ready and willing to help. They'll point you to the right aisle, not to mention offer advise on your project if need be. In fact, I no longer live in the neighborhood, but went out of my way to go to this store, because I wanted to make sure I was getting the right product (thanks to the helpful staff).

I was locked out of my apartment last night and called Arties Locksmith service. He answered the phone and stated that he could meet me in 15 minutes. The tech arrived as promised right at 8pm. Unfortunately, he was not able to pick my lock and get me in but had to drill out my cylinder on the lock to gain entry. I do not fault him for this, I fault my cruddy old door, lock and building. I had to replace my lock as the old one was destroyed...however once inside the locksmith took a look at my lock and informed me that this style of lock is against fire code for an apartment like mine. He then replaced my lock with a new one, gave me two keys and let me keep the old lock so I could present it to my landlord. I will be seeking reimbursement of the fees from my landlord thanks to his knowledge and help. I would highly recommend Arties Hardware/Locksmith and will definitely call them in the future should the need arise.. Thanks Dave!!!

We took our dogs for a walk at the park and right as we got out of the car to enjoy the beautiful day...BAM! The wind blew both of locked doors shut with the keys and our dogs inside. Needless to say we were freaking out about our dogs being stuck in our car and a kind by stander suggested Arties Locksmith as they would go faster. Unfortunately, he was not able to pick my lock and get me in but had to drill out my cylinder on the lock to gain entry. I do not fault him for this, I fault my cruddy old door, lock and building. I had to replace my lock as the old one was destroyed...however once inside the locksmith took a look at my lock and informed me that this style of lock is against fire code for an apartment like mine. He then replaced my lock with a new one, gave me two keys and let me keep the old lock so I could present it to my landlord. I will be seeking reimbursement of the fees from my landlord thanks to his knowledge and help. I would highly recommend Arties Hardware/Locksmith and will definitely call them in the future should the need arise.. Thanks Dave!!!
