Some unposted shots from last summer of Emerald Cut, a favorite Florida spot of mine. This was the last day of my D90's life (long live!).
Emerald Cut is the moniker given to a portion of Rock Springs Run between the head spring area present in the popular Kelly Park and the paddling launch of King's Landing, some mile and a half downstream. As one might imagine given the name, this one features a cut of colorful water, traveling through a course with a tropical canopy. The view from this shallow and narrow run is one of the finest glimpses of Florida jungle I've been able to witness, and that's a part of the Florida landscape that I hold so dear but haven't captured to the best of my abilities until today. If I were to pick out a handful of shots to show someone what the "real Florida" is like, I would certainly have to include one of Emerald Cut.
My D750 has supplanted my longstanding D90 as my main rig, but I was looking forward to using the older camera for paddling and the like where I wasn't comfortable using the newer rig. Today the D90 took its last shot as it shutter expired on an outing to Central Florida's Emerald Cut, maybe my favorite waterway in Florida.

The section of Emerald Cut known as Rock Springs Run outside of Apopka is one of the most beautiful stretches of waterway anywhere. Juniper Creek in the Ocala National Forest offers sometimes similar glimpses with a much more difficult passage, but you can't beat Emerald Cut for all ages fun.
An emerald cut from a piece of raw stone can be varying shades of green. It can be a milky-like green to very dark shades of green to even a mixture of the two. Clarity and colour effects the value, as does the country in which they come. This emerald is less than one carat and was cut at Gem Mountain Mine.

Please note that I have recently detected some sites using my jewellery images without permission. Unbelievably one company is actually attempting to sell our designs off their website using only my images (the Police have been called in this instance...!)
