We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.
We want to thank you for your interest in our work and thanks for visiting our work on Flickr, we do appreciate you and the contributions you make in furthering our interest in photography and on social media in general.

Looks like an embedded storm cell within this passing, strong cold front! This was viewed in San Jose, CA near/along Yerba Buena Rd.
The biggest storm series of the season was heading towards the Bay Area. High winds and heavy rain were expected. The first in the series of storms blew into the Bay Area Wednesday, bringing with it heavy rain, high winds, power outages and flight delays. Meteorologists use the term "atmospheric river" to describe a long, narrow plume piping deep moisture from the tropics into the mid-latitudes. One type of atmospheric river (hereafter, AR) you may have heard of is the "Pineapple Express". If an AR stalls over a particular area, significant flooding can be the result. That being said, they're also important for western water supply considerations. About 30-50% of the average annual precipitation in the West Coast states typically occurs in just a few AR events.
As for California (including my area), this will send a parade of frontal systems and upper-level disturbances into the West Coast through this weekend.

For Scavenger Hunt 101 - #94 An Interesting of Unusual Rock. Love this chunk of one of the bluffs that had fallen off, perhaps thousands of years ago and yet, this tree has taken root and grown right out from under the rock, I have another close-up shot of the tree actually embedded in the rock in several places. Very cool!
