A medium sized resident barbets endemic to India and heard around the forests easily rather than seen. They have a very loud call heard above everything else in the forests that continuously goes for a long time.
This one was shot in a forest overlooking a temple on the edge of a hill. There were maybe 5-6 of these around and their calls filled up the air. The birds were foraging on the lush greenery on the steep slope. There were a few berry trees and several birds were gathered around it. The Barbet had a berry and flew to this perch to take a break from the competition I suppose.
The shot was affected by the smoke emanating from the temple kitchen and resulted in a bit of haze that I couldn't process.
Thanks in advance for your views and feedback Much appreciated.
Macro Mondays: Translucent.
If I've id this correctly, it is a Prince mushroom (Agaricus augustus). It is edible, and can grow to a cap size of 16" with a stalk up to 14". The ones in this group were not up to that size. Apparently it's sweet scent is that of almonds, though I didn't quite catch that myself.
This week was so busy, that I was not actually planning a MM shot. During a break; however, I went on a mushroom hunt with my camera. When I saw this one kicked over, I decided to have some fun with it, side-lighting it with my Moman (from the left). It wasn't until I uploaded, that I realized it would perfectly fit the MM theme, as the light was emanating through the thinnest parts of the gill's edges (more obvious on the gills to the center and right of the frame where the shadow of the previous gill shows, but the light shines through the 'bottom' edge to highlight the unlit side with a beautiful glow)!
To all my Canadian follower: Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
(As I wasn't thinking of MM, I had to go back to make sure my frame was under 3". If you feel like counting, I measured ~14 gills per 1/2" on this fungi, making the whole frame well under the limit for the group).

Well, not really, but an enormously backlit steam cloud emanating from the industrial works across the nightly Rhine makes for quite an impression.
Jackson F. Kimball State Park is a pristine site located at the headwaters of the Wood River. This stream flows from the pine forest into open meadow land laced with picturesque quaking aspen surrounded by the southern Cascade Mountains.
The headwaters of the Wood River emanate from a spring located in Kimball State Recreation Site. The aquifer that feeds the spring is believed to originate twenty miles (32 km) northeast of the park on the east side drainage of Crater Lake National Park. Wood River meanders through pine forest and agricultural land for ten miles (16 km) before flowing into Agency Lake.
I have seen in other photos that their images had a more deep green hue to the water. But this is how my camera shot the color, but it is still crystal clear. Yes, I did wade out into this water and yes, it is cold!

If such places exist can I please go there?! Always been intrigued about the theory of alternative dimensions, and such is accepted that we create our world via the thoughts in our mind, which to some extent emotively is entirely true, but to be able to transverse from this moment in this place to alternative realities, it begs the question, where would you go? What would you create? I think it really depends on who you are.
Obvious to say this was taken during some light but persistent rain, however, after seeing so many photos on flickr of raindrops on varying surfaces, usually leaves an stems, containing images of what they were reflecting or bending within the light, I wanted to get something similar but more organic. So when I spotted the light emanating the building and tree I snapped off a few, it's tricky getting the focus but think this one was good enough.
I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

THE DAWN OF THE MAGICIANS
I walk on the heights of the Grande gorge
In the diffuse light of an uncertain morning
A dawn imagined by a magician.
My only point of reference is my little refuge
And, to the east, the Wall
Also known as the End of the World
By those who, before us, lived and understood this land.
On the heights, the wind grabs my body,
And the fleeting light of the misty morning,
Take my conscience and my soul elsewhere.
Elsewhere on the great river of time
The long times that forged this valley
And short times, those that regulate living species.
Here, life hangs on a little.
And the walker must have the elegance to behave as in "society" *
Because under his feet, fragile networks
Formed by tree roots, fungi and microorganisms
Weave an internet of the woods that allows trees to communicate and interact
To facilitate the regeneration and survival of their own.
At the head of these networks, the older Mother trees.
Metaphysical? No, new frontier of forest ecology
Which shakes our past certainties,
And pushes back the frontier of our understanding of nature. **
Images cannot capture these mysterious emanations of life
But human conscience and soul can
On this Dawn of the Magicians.

I promised you when I posted another version of this stunningly beautiful Tuscan sunrise last week. There is another one with a view over the whole valley. I want to keep that promise today.
Yes, I know, basically it is no longer sunrise but rather the golden hour. This doesn't detract from the magic that emanates from this sight, at least I don't think so.
If you look at the sky you can see how lucky I was with the lighting conditions. Had those dark clouds been just a tad further east, they would have blocked the sun completely and none of this morning's beautiful shots would have been possible.
This realization drastically increases my gratitude for the gift that was prepared for me here.

It is located in the Community of Madrid, near the border with the province of Segovia, in Spain. It has an altitude of 2,257 m with a prominence of 103 m, and is the westernmost summit of the Cuerda Larga mountain range. At its top there are some antennas, whose function was to broadcast the radio and television signal and send it to the two plateaus. In 2010, the Government of Spain decided to close the powerful Navacerrada television repeater due to the analog blackout and leaving it exclusively for the FM radio broadcast of RNE 1 Madrid (104.9 MHz) RNE-CLAS (98.8 MHz), RNE Radio 3 (95.8 MHz) and Onda Madrid (106.0 MHz)

"Timeless thoughts of a winter's stare;
eyes gazing over a landscape bare.
Memories drift on a blustery breeze;
dying light ushers in the freeze.
Reaching out for a grasp on the present;
stillness sets in, alone, and desolate.
Future unknown, outcome uncertain;
brilliance shadowed by a drawn curtain.
Path now set, laid before me known;
closing light now emanating from home.
Enter my homestead, heart filled with glee;
two eyes of the future peering upward at me.
Trusting in him to forge forward until fulfilled;
Basis of strength, values I have instilled.
A weary mind at last permitted to rest;
reflecting on the realization of how I am blessed."

Crepuscular rays, or 'God rays', seem to emanate from Mt. Shasta in this sunrise scene.
Taken from west of the mountain early in the morning ... a counterintuitive choice, to be sure, as I was expecting to see Shasta silhouetted by the sun rising behind it. But instead I got treated to this spectacular display.
"A descending whinny emanates from the depths of cattails and rushes, but the source of this sound rarely shows itself. This secretive brown-and-gray marsh bird is a Sora, but drab it is not. When it finally pokes its head out of the reeds its bright yellow bill might have you thinking about Halloween candy corns. The Sora walks slowly through shallow wetlands a bit like a chicken that has had too much coffee, nervously flicking its tail and exposing the white feathers below."

In principle the Swallowtail flies from April to September, with a first generation of wintering chrysalis. The second generation emanates of course from the first, and the emergences occur most often in July.
This butterfly is an excellent sailboat, with a gliding flight particularly effective and spectacular. It is also a lonely, rather adept of the fickle and wide open spaces, from where incursions generally rather brief in our gardens ... still that the vegetable garden can hold his attention!
And so... I went out on the streets, under a bright full moon, hoping to catch a glimpse of this unlucky, beautifully sad, forever bride.
After some meandering ,under a silver moon ray, there she was, staring at some far place ahead of her, her eyes fixed on the horizon.
She emanated a soft luminescence , a sweet soft light that was far from scary, her tender youth frozen in time.
The scent of jazmine and rose came to greet me.
As I stood there, in awe and feeling an unexpected emotion, an aching respect for her grief , she slowly turned slightly , the trace of a smile on her beautiful face.
She softly said this words to me, a loud enough whisper for me to hear...
"Promise me, when you see
A white rose you'll think of me
I love you so never let go
I will be your ghost of a rose"
And then, she was gone.
She took with her the moonlight, the soft shimmer and the sweet scent of flowers, leaving me, unexpectedly, with a feeling of loss and emptiness.
The next day, I stopped again on that bridge and left a bouquet of white roses on the spot I saw her .
How vulnerable love makes us, but how strong , beautiful, enduring and all encompassing this powerful energy is.

This spotted towhee got a remaining berry, but was evidently wet from the recent rain, based on the splash emanating from it.
It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

The garden pansy is a type of large-flowered hybrid plant cultivated as a garden flower. It is derived by hybridization from several species in the section Melanium 'the pansies' of the genus Viola, particularly Viola tricolor, a wildflower of Europe and western Asia known as heartsease. The garden pansy flower is 5 to 8 centimetres in diameter and has two slightly overlapping upper petals, two side petals, and a single bottom petal with a slight beard emanating from the flower's center. These petals are usually white or yellow, purplish, or blue. The plant may grow to 23 cm in height, and prefers sun to varying degrees and well-draining soils. S10N_245
During our visit to MLK Regional Shoreline near the Oakland Airport, we saw 4 Ridgeway’s Rails making a ruckus. All kinds of noises were emanating from the bushes. These are very skittish birds, so we hid in the bushes and waited for them to come out. The Ridgway's Rail is a handsome gray-and-rusty bird that lives most of its life concealed in dense vegetation. It is a near-threatened species of bird. It is found principally in California's San Francisco Bay to Southern Baja California.

Clytus arietis, the wasp beetle, is a wasp-mimicking longhorn beetle species in the genus Clytus.
It reaches 9–18 millimetres (0.35–0.71 in) in length, and flies well in sunshine from May to July, often visiting flowers for pollen and nectar. It is harmless but is protected by its wasp-like colours and movements, making it a Batesian mimic. The larvae live in dead wood. It also emanates a wasp buzz-like noise when threatened. They can be seen wandering around on flowers from late spring to early summer, and they are easily mistaken for wasps.

I loved the bucolic charm and the beauty of this place.
A cow was grazing quietly in the meadow in front of the bell tower. This added to the peace and serenity that emanated from the scene.
When I finished taking my shot, a little surprise awaited me (see the next shot)

The site of the boat cemetery is surely, because of its modest character, one of the most curious island areas in Noirmoutrin. This place, as unusual as it is discreet, has the charm of a very special space that amateur painters or naval officials have always known how to represent on their paintings. The gaze is drawn to the old multicolored wooden hulls of old fishing units on the right bank of the channel: these witnesses of a bygone past form a poignant cemetery of boats. These spaces, far from the urban activity of the North Shore, emanate a nostalgia which gives this boat cemetery a very special atmosphere. The boats, abandoned for decades, seem to wait for the sea to slowly make them disappear, offering a spectacle that changes according to the tides and the weather.

Fantastical web refracting the suns light so beautifully. I used photoshops auto tone, colour and contrast and it gave me this, oh and a splash of sharpening too.
Although my faves are the blurry parts where the glow from the web is rather remarkable especially when viewed large. Aren't spiders just amazing! They literally spin this super strong substance that humans have yet to fully understand out of their back ends. Little aliens?
Enjoy the sunshine emanating to you from this wonderful web! Happy days everyone.

The secretive Gray Catbird, with its distinctive cat-like
mewing note, is a common winter resident in Florida.
Many pass through the state during migration.
Gray Catbirds are one of the most common species that non-birders in their range are likely to have never seen nor identified. The catbird’s rather bland coloration – slate gray with a black cap and chestnut under the tail – doesn’t attract attention, and unlike their cousins, the mockingbirds, that often sing from exposed perches, catbirds prefer to sing their jumbled songs from cover. And it is the sounds that catbirds make that give them their name and makes it at all likely that their presence will be noted.
Gray Catbirds, to put it simply, have a call note that sounds like a cat with a scratchy and short meow. This sound emanating from a tangle of brush can easily fool those not in the know. The song of the Gray Catbird, however, is nothing like a cat meowing: like the mockingbird and thrasher the catbird often mimics other birds and sounds but it tends not to repeat itself. The rule of thumb is that if a phrase is repeated three times in a row it is a mockingbird, it it is repeated twice a thrasher is singing, and if each phrase of the song is sang just once one is dealing with a catbird.

Laguna Verde (Spanish for 'green lake') is a salt lake in an endorheic basin, in the southwestern Altiplano in Bolivia. It is located in the Sur Lípez Province of the Potosí Department. It is close to the Chilean border, at the foot of the volcano Licancabur.
Licancabur is a stratovolcano on the border between Bolivia and Chile, south of the Sairecabur volcano and west of Juriques. Part of the Andean Central Volcanic Zone, it has a prominent, 5,916-metre (19,409 ft)-high cone.
A 400-metre (1,300 ft) summit crater containing Licancabur Lake, a crater lake which is among the highest lakes in the world, caps the volcano. Three stages of lava flow emanate from the volcano, which formed on Pleistocene ignimbrites.
Corvo Island is, in itself, a vulcano. Caldeirão do Corvo, its most iconic spot, is the crater that resulted from the one volcano, which gave birth to the island, and was probably active for the last time about two million years ago. On the way up to Caldeirão do Corvo you pass by pasture land, separated by black basalt walls or hydrangea hedges, where cows and some wild horses graze, offering – weather permitting – splendid views, with the green of the pastures beautifully contrasting with the blue of the sea. The road, running for about 6 km, takes you to the north-eastern crater rim. From the Miradouro do Caldeirão, a viewpoint at an altitude of about 560 m, the views down to the 300 m deep crater bottom, which can be reached on a path, are fabulous – if there are no clouds, which unfortunately is most often the case. Boasting an impressive 3.5 km circumference, this gigantic crater’s steep walls are covered with greenish-yellowish mosses, the yellowish colour at places being so intensive, as if there were still sulphur vapours emanating. The crater has also two lakes, with a few other tiny islets. Reaching its highest point with 718 m in the south, at the peak Morro dos Homens, the crater flanks slope down precipitously to the sea in the east, north and west where they often drop almost vertically from heights of about 400 m.

Finally coming to the end of the images from this session and as I type this the mist is thick outside so will be filling the camera with more misty arboreal delights! So, another image from the adorable Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire as I try to keep our burning orb behind the trees to capture natures wonder of its emanating rays.
I caught these rainy day ripples on a pond in a private garden in Porto, Portugal. My mind wanders to the hope that our national nightmare may soon come to an end without too much damage.
