Friends, the time has come to expose the perennial infightings of AJSA-SFI and ask them straight: why could they not ensure UGC .J .
scholarship from April 2005? Both the organizations are making a lot of noise regarding who did what during last year, who wrotewhat to the VC, who organized the highest number ofjuloos etc. Most of such noise is fueled by lies like SFi accusing PSU (in theirperennial fetishism of putting all other left organizations together) agreeing to keep the MCM scholarship at Rs. l000. This is atrabsolute lie. We challenge SFI to prove their accusation by making public the minutes of that nteeting or to teud apublic apology to PSU for conjuring up white lies..
Over the past few years we have witnessed a tremendous degeneration of the democratic-progressive culture for which our campus isknown. The perennial infightings of AlSA-SFI and their monopolization of the democratic space of the campus are complete1yresponsible for this degeneration. In the name of fighting right-wing forc,~s (which have got entrenched more and have gone on ashameless offensive now) the parliamentary hegemonic left forces have completely depoliticized the campus and reduced politics tosocialization-where votes are solicited on the basis of extra-political factors such as who assisted whom during the admission, whogave shel.ter to whom when s/he did not have hostel accommodation etc. Further, there has been a systemic assault on the forumssspaces and mechanisms that ensured the participation of students in the political process and thereby the accountability of JNUSU.For example, how many of us know that JNUSU constitution makes it mandatory to hold at least two GBMs per semester ineach sch.ool? It is not accidental that these GBMs are never organized. There lies the agenda ofdepoliticization behind this so as todeny the common students the democratic right to participate in the process ofagenda setting ofschools and the JNUSU, and the rightto ask pertinent and uncomfortable questions to the elected re presentatives for not fulfilling the moons they promise during theelections. .
JNU's academic excellence has always been contingent upon the vibrant left political culture of the campus. A culture where I.
