Beautiful and strange Motherland

Odysseas Elytis-Dimitris Lagios
I've never seen such a beautiful and strange homeland
like the one that fate has given me.
Throws the net to catch fish and catches birds.
Launches a boat on land, builds a garden in the water.
Weeps, kisses the ground, migrates,
ends up in some crossroads all alone... matures.
I've never seen such a beautiful and strange homeland
like the one that fate has given me.
Reaches to grab a stone, decides not to,
carves it... produces miracles.
Takes a little boat and reaches oceans.
Yearns for uprisings, seeks tyrants.
I've never seen such a beautiful and strange homeland
like the one that fate has given me."
Con quali pietre quale sangue e quale ferro
Con quale fuoco siamo fatti
Mentre sembriamo solo nuvola
E ci lapidano e ci chiamano
Sognatori
Come viviamo giorno e notte

Blue... Just blue...
I'm looking from the window the blue that God spent in order not seeing Him...
Elitis saw even more blue... He knows...

"Propped on the rocks, without yesterday or tomorrow, facing the dangers of the rocks with a hurricane hairstyle you will say farewell to the riddle that is yours." (Odysseus Elitis: "Marina of the rocks")

"That we say " I love you"
I will drop it to the trees
I will say it by the air
and i will blow it to you"
poem by Odyssea Elitis
A volte
Odisseas Elitis
E solo nella cavità dell’orecchio sinistro, poca,
sottile, impalpabile sabbia, come nelle conchiglie.
Avremo frutti precoci quest’anno.
Odisseas Elitis

I absolutely loved this showroom and was instantly attracted to this colour scheme. The yellow fabric at the back is "boiled" wool...! The company is called Abbott and Boyd and they import and distribute (amazing) furnishing fabrics, wall coverings and trimmings from France and Spain. Their collection of wallpaper and wall coverings is some of the best I have ever seen, in particular the range called Elitis www.elitis.fr/en/
Mmmm. Eames fiberglass arm shells with Eiffel bases. The bonsai wallpaper is 'Dolce Vita' by Elitis, a French company. The paper is from their "glass" line and is made from varnished corrugated vinyl to resemble "molten pearly glass."

Armenian writer and Agos columnist Pakrat Estukyan holds the photograph of an Armenian intellectual Hagop Terzian during a meeting of Saturday Mothers against enforced disappearences in Turkey on 2014.
Hagop Terzian was an Armenian intellectual, a writer and pharmacist. Together with more than 200 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders, Hagop Terzian was arrested on 24 April 1915 at the start of the Armenian Genocide in Istanbul. Many of them executed in the following months and tens of them were disappeared. This was just before the adoption of the Deportation Law on May 27, 1915...
Saturday Mothers against #EnforcedDisappearences hold photographs of Armenian intellectuals together with relatives' every week and dedicate their meeting and commemorate Armenian intellectuals every year on the first Saturday after April 24.

The architecture found in the Aegean islands never seizes to dazzle me. Those picturesque windows, those doors, those colorful pot plants, those handwritten signs...they all indirectly and unintentionally express moments of people’s lives past and present.
The sense that a personal touch was used to create these elements can’t be ignored. There is so much love, so much patience, so much imagination that transpires a sense of warmth and welcome.
This is a tribute to the beauty found in the tiny streets on the islands of the Aegean - naively drawn forms with a splash of blue.

Ovo je moj vlastiti kolaž kojim se podrugujem "građanima", ljevičarima i odnarođenoj hrvatskoj eliti. Spomenik Grgura Ninskog u Splitu trebao je dobiti "otmjenu" glavu Hrvoja Prnjka, poznatog splitskog "građanina" i istaknutog mrzitalja hrvatskih gusala. Međutim, glava koju vidimo na ovome spomeniku nije Prnjkova glava već Dubravka Novaka, zamjenika načelnika zagrebačkog redarstva. Dakle, došlo je do slučajne pogreške koju je sada teško ispraviti . Stoga ostavljam sliku kakva jeste jer ona zapravo više simbolizira jednu ideju nego stvarnu osobu. Riječ je prije svega o metafori odnarođenog intelektualca, ljevičara i maograđanina kojoj Hrvoje Prnjak, Jurica Pavičić, Zlatko Gall, Miljenko Jergović i drugi "kosmopoliti" današnjeg vremena nesumnjivo pripadaju.

The ancient Corinto.
the archeological site is already closed,
but we can enjoy the sunset.
Corinth, or Korinth (Greek Κόρινθος, Kórinthos) is a city in Greece. In antiquity it was a city-state, on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnesus to the mainland of Greece. To the west of the isthmus lies the Gulf of Corinth, to the east lies the Saronic Gulf. Corinth is about 78 kilometres (48 mi) southwest of Athens. The isthmus, which was in ancient times traversed by hauling ships over the rocky ridge on sledges, is now cut by a canal.

Bebiendo el sol de Corinto
Leyendo mármoles
Recorriendo a zancadas viñas mares
