10 years since the last time I played with anything similar. this returned the swich's state/light, then passed that to the computer.
This is an unmarked nixie tube that would have ended up as either a B-5441A (if Burroughs had distributed it) or NL-5441A (if National had). I'm not certain about that, but I think the story behind these is that they were manufactured and then warehoused, never actually sold to a distributor. I don't really understand the whole process of tube manufacture and sales; I have learned that the company name and date code on the tubes don't necessarily have anything to do with when they were made or who made them. Sometimes they're relabeled when one company sells them to another, which is why some of my tubes are date-coded 2002 when they were actually probably made 30 years earlier. I don't know when this tube was made, either, but some time in the 1970s seems a reasonable guess.
This tube was part of a group buy through the Neonixie mailing list, which I mentioned on the page about the corresponding tube sockets. Great opportunity and a helluva deal.
I titled the picture "Kodos" because Mrs. W. says this socket setup makes the tubes look like Kodos and Kang, the tentacly aliens in The Simpsons.

I made mine with a home-made printed circuit board. The only thing missing is that burning turnip or pumpkin smell which only a real candle can make.
This won't burn your house down if you leave it alone though.
This is the video camera mounted on top of my DSLR lend, A super simple concept, the video camera and the Lens have the same tripod mount thread, so all I had to do was cut a bolt to length and screw the two cameras together, I used a nut to set the rotation of the video camera so it is pointing straight ahead.

The PCBs for my nixie tube clock arrived, and I even got twice as many as I ordered! Hurrah for Gold Phoenix.
At any rate after a marathon soldering session they are finally assembled and awaiting testing and programming and all that. The power supply works, and the AVR was programmable, so that's a good sign!
