Asked a question on Stack Exchange site "Electrical Engineering" about what material the outer portion of chips are made out of. The answer I got was a plastic or epoxy. But I notice that the chip I have that got me curious (which I desoldered from this old modem), has a cold feel to it. Doesn't feel like plastic, has either a metallic or maybe ceramic feel to it.
