removing electrical conduit- oh happy day!!!!! This is how the "professionals" wired the upstairs bathroom (in the dormer). Us non-professionals found a way up through the HVAC chase up through the attic and back down to the bathroom.

Another thing that I notice when traveling is how the electrical and phone systems seem different from what I see in the US. Compare the insulators and wiring as seen here.
Some parts are very familiar, others seem woefully out of date.

The old 1-inch conduit (with the now-disconnected lines for the 50A RV pedestal) sits disconnected from the old PVC pipe as the latter heads under the house and a couple of 90 degree bends.

The first task for today was to get the range receptacle wired up. This had been a problem on previous days. The 6 gauge wire is a pain to manipulate, and I couldn't get everything to fit in the box.
First I went to an electrical supply store, and they suggested that I use large mud rings to get some extra space. This sounded like a good plan, so I bought 3 rings in various sizes. When I got home, I realized that since I was using a "switch box" rather than a regular box, the mud rings weren't going to fit. Oh well.
Next I went to Home Depot to pick up a new box. While there a friendly and knowledgeable employee (wow!) suggested that I use a larger box, so I grabbed one of those. They didn't have the super big mud rings for that size box, but it looked like I might be be to get everything to fit.
