This friendly rider spoke with a high pitched voice, and he asked me if I was lost, I said yes ( I wasn't really) and we got chatting amiably. Perhaps if he wasn't riding lounge style in a relaxed open body language posture but instead hobbling on sticks with his face aimed downward he wouldn't have had the opportunity to have a chat with a passing stranger. Notice the takeaway wrappers between his feet, I wonder if he's been enjoying a kebab on the go? He has borrowed it from the Birmingham shopmobility scheme, the sign on the basket reads 'Your logo could be here', inviting sponsorship from advertisers, would adidas or Nike be interested in such premium ad space I wonder? No doubt the Birmingham city council coffers are rattling a bit so they're trying to make up some extra revenue somewhere - perhaps this is not the best use of ad space out there? But good on the council for enabling the infirm to enjoy the pleasures of Birmingham city centre, whereas without the council he would simply be UNjoying the pleasures of the four walls of his old people's rest home. But notice his fisherman's waistcoat, does this mean he enjoys a spot of canalside fishing whilst in the seated position?

The model he is enjoying is none other than the magical Auriga from Invacare, who are based near Cleveland, Ohio, admire the modern fascia and modest bumper for those supermarket rages, the seemingly low centre of gravity drips confidence into the lowest of esteems - bigger riders will have no worries about toppling this beauty, the wheels placed at the ends of the chassis add to the balance this model delivers. The ergonomics are fine if a little boxy and that carpet tread looks like it could hide a fare amount of dog poo too. the side indicator is a nice touch along with the unisex shopping basket, all in all a smart effort for a lower end of the market model.

This rider finds the road a more suitable thoroughfare than the pavement in Broadstairs' busy town centre, to legally ride a Mobility Scooter on the road in the UK you need to pay road tax, and if so you are then entitled to travel at speeds up to 8mph, without paying road tax you are only allowed to travel at slows of up to 4mph on pavements. But still this picture leaves me with more questions than answers...

1. Should the rider on a public highway wear a helmet?

2. Should they adhere to the laws of a bicycle or car?

3. Should they receive parking tickets?

4. Should he be wearing a seatbelt?

5. Should he ride in the gutter to allow faster moving vehicles to overtake him?

6. Should road riders be subjected to an MOT?

7. Should riders pass a driving test?

8. Should riders be subjected to regular drink/riding laws and random breath tests?

9. Will the AA or RAC mend his Mobility Scooter if it breaks down?

10. Should Mobility Scooters be allowed to enter bus and cycle lanes?

11. Is this man a nutter?

A man on an electric cart checking out the Christmas displays at Riverside Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

May we presume this dapper gentleman is Henry - who has just hopped off his smart red shiny Mobility Scooter to enjoy the Netto shopping experience in Shrewsbury, Henry is a neighbour of mine, and his journey to Netto on his Mobility Scooter would be about as far as he will actually walk around the aisles of Netto - assuming he is visiting every aisle that's 320 metres or thereabouts.

Notice how he proudly displays his personalised number plate on the front of his pavecraft, perhaps he had a PNP in his motorcar days and just wanted to carry on with tradition - who knows? but this combination of walking and riding is certainly accepted in the modern community today.

God knows how fast this souped up model of pavecraft was whizzing down the pavements of Peckham's Rye Lane, luckily it was before 9 o' clock in the morning before the benefits queue started up (the P.O. is just out of shot on the right of this frame) What I can guage from the photograph is that the rider is not displaying a road tax disc, and I don't think a 4mph velocity would make someone's hair trail perpendicular to the head, so we can deduce that this is a rogue rider and certainly probably not a member of the famed local Mobility Scooter club - the Peckham Peacocks, who I am certain would not condone this sort of behaviour.

I used our Club Car Carry All 500 to carry the red cedar fence rails and posts needed to replace our old rotten fence at Distant Hill Gardens.

This enigmatic image was submitted by Mobility Scooter Aficianado Arron Fowler of Shrewsbury. Waiting patiently for it's rider in the summertime rain a forlorn picture of this wonderful example of pavecraft is painted. Sadly the raincover of this particular model is creased; giving the Mobility Scooter a tatty look. The location outside the 'Netto of Fashion' embellishes the decrepid feel of the picture and the person we may envisage to ride her.

Perhaps someone could manufacture a non creasing variety of rain cover for the more discerning rider out of a more sturdy material?

Jamie always likes to shop at night. We went to go get ice cream sundays and sparkling cider. Jamie is addicted to cider.

I told them to pretend they were shopping and they both did this :)

Sights along Playa del Carmen's touristy 5th Avenue.

To get around our new gigantic, football-field-size supermarket, if I have a very long list, I've needed to resort to one of those electric carts. Once I did drive away with it still plugged in to the electric outlet (Mr. Bob may never recover from that), but otherwise, I've not come close to running into anyone.

You can get on board, but you can never leave.
