I’m so thankful. Sure, the American electorate has basically voted in a known traitor, Putin puppet, serial adulterer, serial bankruptcies causer, vile rapist, convicted felon, charity thief, and worse… but, hey… Look at the bright side. The price of eggs should go down. We hope, right?
But, seriously… Let’s examine just one aspect of this election AND Darwin Awards winning crowd. The MAGA white nationalists probably think that the reduction in taxes and cuts in welfare services will hurt people they hate… blacks, minorities, Hispanics, blue states, etc.
But here’s a fun fact. Major segments of white welfare recipients are in the reddest states and will feel the cuts. The “bad” people in diverse blue states and educated well-paid professionals will need to subsidize their diversity-hating MAGA non-brethren less than before.
So, thank you, MAGA voters in the states below.
Here’s why. It's important to note that many red states receive more in federal funding than they contribute in taxes. This means that blue states, which typically contribute more in federal taxes, often subsidize red states. Majority of white MAGA voters may think cutting welfare hurts blacks, Hispanics, or minorities only. Obviously identifying red states with significant white populations living in poverty and dependent on welfare can be complex, … but some states consistently show higher rates of federal assistance. Here are a few notable examples.
1. Mississippi
- Poverty Rate: Mississippi has one of the highest poverty rates in the U.S., with a significant portion of its population relying on federal assistance.
- Demographics: A considerable number of white residents in Mississippi live below the poverty line, making the state heavily dependent on federal welfare programs.
2. West Virginia
- Poverty Rate: West Virginia also has high poverty levels, particularly in rural areas.
- Welfare Dependency: Many residents, including a significant number of white individuals, rely on programs like Medicaid and food assistance.
3. Kentucky
- Poverty Rate: Kentucky has a notable percentage of its population living in poverty, with many depending on federal aid.
- Demographics: The state has a diverse demographic, but a substantial number of white residents are among those receiving assistance.
4. Alabama
- Poverty Rate: Alabama ranks high in poverty rates, with many residents relying on welfare.
- Welfare Programs: Programs such as SNAP (food stamps) and Medicaid are crucial for many low-income families, including white households.
5. Arkansas
- Poverty Rate: Arkansas has a significant poverty rate, with many residents dependent on federal assistance.
- Demographics: A considerable portion of the population receiving welfare benefits is white.
So, thank you, thank you, thank you, all you MAGA voters for letting blue states people reduce subsidizing your food stamps and welfare cheques. Sorry if we don’t do welfare checks on y’all either.
You don’t believe in college education, medical science, environmental protection, or equal rights and justice for all. You post memes about Jesus & your guns protecting you, and not needing vaccinations because you have immune systems. I’m sure you’ll all be just fine in the next 4 years. Democracy and the future of our nation, those I’m not so sure about when Trump is done.

Two things are different about this election. First , it is a contest between those who favor democracy and those who favor fascism.The choice is one I never thought would happen here.Secondly, it involves a candidate who refuses to accept the outcome of the last election and encourages his followers to use violence to change those results. We, the People now live in constant stress over this election.Even when the result are finalized, the stress will not be over.

The texts on the Trump banners capture the entire message of the Trump/Vance campaign and its propaganda effort to feed the Trump cult to voters: The Trump mythology. The number one is "Fight, Fight, Fight", the second one reads "Impeached, Arrested, Convicted, Shot- Still Standing", and the third one says " (Image of Trump) Wanted for President 2024"

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Ohio Senator J.D Vance stated, "We’re Effectively Run In This Country via the Democrats by a Bunch of Childless Cat Ladies Who Are Miserable at Their Own Lives and the Choices They’ve Made." This interview resurfaced when Vance was selected as Donald Trump's vice presidential running mate in the 2024 election. And his words caused an uproar across the country.
Surrounding Vance in the image above is a group of kewpie dolls. Rose O’Neill created these dolls as character drawings for a women's magazine in 1909. She described them as "a sort of little round fairy whose one idea is to teach people to be merry and kind at the same time."
Apparently, Vance needs some extra help to be merry and kind, you know, less of a misogynist if he wants to represent all Americans. So far, it doesn't seem to be working. Maybe this cadre of kewpie dolls can convince him to change his ways.
Americans have lost confidence in their government. We no longer trust our legislators and the Supreme Court to solve our country’s problems: income inequality, affordable health care, a woman’s right to decide what’s best for her health, the economy, and climate change. Governance has become a series of battles. It’s no longer just political ideology. We are at war over cultural issues while our politicians ignore our basic needs. And we’ve lost faith in our country’s institutions when ersatz news organizations like Fox knew Donald Trump lost the election but promoted voter fraud to get ratings.
The morals of our GOP legislators and their sycophants are just as important as their economic policy. How can we trust a party that Alex Patton, a Florida-based Republican consultant and pollster, has characterized as a party that “has become mean and driven by emotion on whom we dislike.”? “But,” he says, “that is the driving force in American politics right now.” That is the driving force of the GOP, not the Democrats. This is not an example of the equality of “bothsidesism.”
In my essay, “ It’s Time to Release Our Own Kraken!" I outlined the history of the Republican Party’s “below the belt” tactics. They continue to be underhanded to this day. But with the low level of civility in our present polarized country, many Republican legislators now in office have hit new ethical lows.
As a visual artist who has spent over a decade creating posters about the sorry state of American political discourse, this year I began a new series of portraits, "Faces of the Republican Party." The men and women in this series deserve to be taken to task for their unwillingness to compromise, belief in conspiracy theories, and disdain for the LGBTQ+ community, women’s rights, and our children’s education. The purpose of our government is to solve our nation’s problems. It’s not a place for personal vendettas or manufactured cultural issues.
“Faces of the Republican Party” is not a partisan series of portraits. Merriam-Webster defines the word as “a firm adherent to a party, faction, cause, or person, especially one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance.” The people depicted in these images are the partisans. Instead, my series is a documentary and op-ed showcasing the facts in 2022. All of them had a hand in trying to overthrow the government. These images are MAGA Republicans who put their blind allegiance to Donald Trump and their careers ahead of the needs of the American people.
Republicans are perfect examples of Patton’s “driving force.” This force is dirty, mean, misogynistic, selfish, and wastes our tax dollars. These people are just a small sampling of individuals responsible for the loss of credibility and faith in America’s institutions. And worse, they couldn’t care less.
