An election leaflet from the 1945 General Election. This was given to me by the candidate - not then but in the early 60s.
A fascinating man, I thought a great deal of him. Alas while his judgement of what was wrong had a great deal going for it, his political position was pretty misguided - although to be honest, I didn't think so at the time!

CAIRO, May 15, 2012 (IPS) - One is a conservative Islamist attempting to reinvent himself as a pragmatic liberal, the other is a secular statesman trying to distance himself from the authoritarian regime he once served. Both aspire to be Egypt’s first civilian president.

May 7th was the third phase of India’s general election. In this phase, 93 constituencies in 12 states and/or union territories head to the polls. There are more than 900 million eligible voters in this election, and millions of poll workers are working across the country to run the world’s largest democratic elections.
This footage depicts people heading to the polls in Gujarat, India. Gujarat is the home state of India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, as well as the Minister of Home Affairs of India, Amit Shah. The entire state voted in this third phase of the Indian General Elections.

November 2, 2010 - A group of children, most extended family of Tim Cahill, sit on the stage at Cahill's election night celebration at the Copley Marriott in Boston as the election results start to come in. Even with 6% reporting, Deval Patrick was in the lead. Cahill, who ran as an independent in the election for Governor, earned 8% of the vote with 96% reporting. By Angela Owens.
