This Ariyan Eightfold Path, that is to say: Right view, right aim, right speech, right action, right living, right effort, right mindfulness, right contemplation. Buddha

Found in an old house, just left there........
"Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which nature herself is animated."

Holy Mother of consolation Parish Church - It's the biggest church in Żyrardów. It was founded by the Sobański Family and Karol Dittrich and built from 1900 to 1903. It was designed in neogothic style and it's standing on the central square of my hometown. The church was patterned on Koln Basilica (eightfold lowered) and it has two 70 meters tall towers. The interior is decorated with the flowery motifs of stain glass windows made by Franciszek Białkowski according to the design attributed to Józef Mehoffer. The church furnishings refer to the gothic style.
Żyrardów - small town in Central Poland, located in the Mazovia region. It owes its unique atmosphere to the characteristic architecture of an industrial town. The original spatial layout of the community, which grew around a manufacturing plant in the mid-19th century, has been preserved to the present day. The historic center of Żyrardów (mostly buildings from red bricks) is the only industrial architecture complex from the turn of the 20th c. in Europe that has been preserved to modern times in full. The old settlement covers a 76-ha area in the central part of the town. Diversified architectural forms and styles characterize the city, which has resulted from the multi-cultural character of Żyrardów. The flax trade gave the town its origins. A plant manufacturing flax that was one of the largest and modern factories in Europe was established there in 1829. Karol Dittrich and Karol Hielle, two industrialists from Germany, founded the plant. The town derives its name from the first technical director of the plant, Philip de Girard who, among others, invented a mechanical flax-spinning machine.

Był on m.in. wynalazcą maszyny do mechanicznego przędzenia lnu.

The first part of the Buddha’s life was lived in luxurious palaces, enjoying a care-free existence as every need and desire was met. And yet he was far from happy. After renouncing life as a prince, he lived for many years, homeless, with no clothes, sometimes existing on a single grain of rice per day. Still, no happiness.
Between these two extremes of self-indulgence and self-mortification, the Buddha detailed a path of self-improvement known as the Middle Way, which if followed, would lead to the end of suffering.
Traditionally it is said that the Buddha gave 84,000 teachings, each one of them a complete and perfect way of destroying suffering and attaining lasting happiness. Why so many?! Because there are so many different people, with so many different personalities, mindsets and tastes, and thus the Buddha taught according to each individual’s need. Yet all of the teachings have the same essence, and are based around ethics, concentration and wisdom. Most people will have heard of the Noble Eightfold Path: these *guidelines* make us act in ways that improve our lives now and in the future.
We have right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness and right concentration, all of which include the ideas of not harming living beings, not lying, not stealing and so forth. But it goes further than this – rather than telling us what we should not do, the Noble Eightfold Path tells us in positive terms of what we should do. So instead of not lying, we should actively take it upon ourselves to always speak honestly (right speech). Instead of not killing, we should actively take it upon ourselves to save lives, for instance by buying animals who are to be slaughtered and caring for them (right action).
Right livelihood is a big one, especially in today’s world where most of us have to work. The Buddha specifically banned his followers from selling weapons, drugs and alcohol, dealing in beings (slave trade, brothels, raising animals for slaughter), and meat production, and while I’m sure that most of us are not working in jobs that involve destroying the rainforests, selling children or executing people, we should look at our work and see how much harm it causes.
Perhaps the most important factor is right view. Right view is free from prejudice and superstition, and understands the ultimate nature of existence: the emptiness of all phenomena (more on this later). This completely shatters our current understanding of existence, and since our own view of the world forms our thoughts and actions, from right view springs right thoughts and right actions.
I hope everyone is well - enjoy your weekend guys and girls!

Stupa and prayer flags. Kathmandu, Nepal
......................................................................
The Tibetan word is Chorten, which means "the basis of offering".
Stupa is a symbol of enlightened mind, (the awakened mind, universal divinity) and the path to its realisation.
If you had to use just two words, the best definition I have seen is "Spiritual Monument"
The stupa represents the Buddha's body, his speech and his mind, but most especially his mind and every part shows the path to Enlightenment

Just about everyone's seen photos of the amazing temples and cities of and associated with Angkor Wat just north of Siem Reap, Cambodia. So it would be rather boring to post something of that sort. Anyway...
I was totally awed by my visit. Of course the stupendous architecture was overwhelming even if half-suspected so before coming here. Awesome and more; perhaps sublime. But totally other-worldly for Yours Truly. In a single word: Wow!
Here's a photo of the inner workings of this architecture, A horizontal beam, I think some sort of T-beam. Decorated with the eight-lotus motif of Buddhism, signiftying the Eightfold Path or Dharma Wheel. For a moment I thought the architecture might be of the so-called Butterfly Plan; that is to say of wings of a structure to stand at 45° of the main building. But that's not so. However, the many stairs leading to the various levels are indeed inclined at 45°; Believe you me, that's very steep.
My mind still taken by the blueprint of this Amazing Building, I went out onto the grass to contemplate a bit. And there they were, the dancing Blues, the Lycaenid Butterflies of Cambodia, whose specific was revealed to me by Rea (see below): Zizina otis, Lesser Grass Blue. So High Architecture and the Architecture of Nature joined in my mind.

The rose window motif that faces the sunset (West), symbolizes doomsday. The rose window's structural layout followed the design by cathedral architect Olaf Nordhagen, and the diameter is built up around an eightfold symmetry with the innermost parts proportioned such that the diameter is formed of 16 sheets.
The window expresses how things move outward from Christ and converge back to him by doomsday. In the middle is a red gem, which symbolizes Christ. The rays outward represent yellow flames in a blue background. Angels are located at the end of each flame; those on the upper half are singing and playing while those on the lower half are six winged. In the outermost ring are the angels of the judgment. Between the angels of judgment are the symbols for the four Evangelists. In the upper left is the Matthew the Evangelist as an angel with a written scroll. In the upper right is John the Evangelist represented as an eagle. In the bottom right is Luke the Evangelist as an ox. In the bottom left is Mark the Evangelist as a lion. The painted glass in the window consists of over 10,000 pieces. The rose window was presented as a gift from the women of Norway for St. Olav's anniversary in 1930, it was completed the same year and is regarded as Kielland's masterpiece.

Dharma Wheel, the eight spokes represent the Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhism. They are said to have sharp edges to cut through ignorance. All Buddhists agree that the first turning of the wheel occurred when the Buddha taught the five ascetics at the Deer Park in Sarnath, because of this, a Dharmacakra is often seen with a deer on each side. The Ganden Sumtsenling Monastery lies at an elevation of c. 3,330 m in Shangri-La County, Yunnan Province, China. It was founded in 1679 by the great Tibetan Fifth Dalai Lama, Nawang Lozang Gyatso (1617 - 1682), who unified Tibet, built the Potala Palace in Lhasa and pursued good relations with the Chinese Qing Dynasty. The Sumtsenling Monastery was built during the reign of the Qing Dynasty Emperor Kangxi (ruled 1662 - 1722) and follows the Gelug (aka Yellow Hat) School of Tibetan Buddhism.

From Lonely Planet:
The only surviving village of three founded by Rama I, Baan Baht (Monk's Bowl Village) still hand-hammers eight pieces of steel (representing Buddha's eightfold path) into the distinctive alms bowls used by monks to receive morning food donations. Tourists instead of temples are the primary patrons these days and a bowl purchase is usually rewarded with a demonstration.
The alms bowls are sold for between around ฿600 and around ฿2000 and make great souvenirs. But the village itself is just as interesting. When we visited, an elderly woman intercepted us just nanoseconds after we'd walked into the soi and quickly ushered us through her living room, and out the back door down a series of tiny lanes populated by kids, sleeping cats and cockroaches, and delivered us to one of the bowl makers, who showed us his bowls and others making them. Competition is certainly keen for your tourist baht, but you wouldn't call it touristy. More a raw, poor Bangkok community, and a chance for you to experience that side of life and maybe buy a bowl.
In Egyptian mythology, the Ogdoad were eight primordial deities worshiped in Hermopolis. The term “Ogdoad” means “the Eightfold” in Ancient Greek and “eight” in Ancient Egyptian.

Samma-sati...is the seventh element of the noble eightfold path.
Enlightenment ("Bodhi") is a state of being in which greed, hatred, & delusion have been...overcome, abandoned & are absent from the mind.
Samma-sati (Mindfulness) is an attentive awareness of the reality of things (especially of the present moment)--& is an antidote to delusion. This faculty becomes a power in particular when it is coupled with clear comprehension of whatever is taking place.
Here's to Bodhi: Take a bow, Bodhisattva...how much you have endured (in all my vanity & ego-driven silliness).

In this striking photo, elegance and mystique unite in a timeless display of Eastern-inspired beauty. The woman commands attention in her sleek black gown embroidered with a golden dragon, symbolizing strength, wisdom, and power. Her poised stance and delicate headpiece enhance her regal aura, while her partner beside her exudes an air of mystery and strength, adorned in coordinating golden accents. His wide-brimmed hat, decorated with lanterns, casts an enigmatic shadow, adding depth and intrigue to the scene.
Set against the backdrop of a traditional village with glowing lanterns and weathered charm, this image beautifully captures the balance of strength, grace, and tradition. It’s a moment where fashion becomes art, and storytelling is stitched into every golden thread.
I would like to thank my husband, Urban, for his help with this photo. Please go check his page.

EINGANG ZUM NIRWANA
ENTRANCE TO NIRVANA
Many Buddhists want nothing more than to achieve nirvana. Above all, they see the great suffering in life that they have to endure with every rebirth. Buddhists believe that only knowing all things can free them from suffering and lead them to nirvana. The right path to enlightenment for them is the "Noble Eightfold Path". But it is also laborious and often unimaginably long, because the Buddhists believe that a person can be reborn up to 500 times.

Devil's Lake State Park, WI
Last Saturday was the last day a good friend of mine would be in town for what sounds like a long, long time. He's the kind of friend I could talk to for hours about anything and everything, so I did just that as we hiked 11.5 miles around Devil's Lake. This photo was taken from the east bluff looking west at the faraway trees on the other side of the lake. It's sort of an abstract photo that shows off a beautiful palette of spring colors as the leaves turn green again in Wisconsin.
We talked about history, we talked about linguistics, we talked about photography, we talked about artificial intelligence, we talked about long distance hiking, we talked about religion. All kinds of things.
So I can't say "I am a buddhist" with certainty, but a lot of its tenants sure pique my interest. My understanding is one of the parts of the eightfold path is "right view" (the title I gave this photo), where one seeks to gain the wisdom to see things "as they are" inside and outside of themselves via mindfulness and meditation. This largely includes seeing how suffering comes about and how to reduce it, which I thought was especially pertinent for this long, cold, windy, rainy hike. The root of suffering is attachment, Buddha says. The hike might have sounded uncomfortable, but we weren't attached to having a comfortable day. Instead we chose to see the day for what it was without judgement and lived in the moment, enjoyed the company and conversation, and chose not to perceive the conditions as the source of pain and suffering. The aching muscles and cold wet skin weren't a *bad* feeling, they were just *a* feeling. It's all about perception.
Then we ate cheeseburgers.
All in all it was a simple day of simple pleasures with a good friend that I won't soon forget. These are the kinds of days I want my life to be filled with. It was hard to say goodbye, but I look forward to saying hello again.

For practicing Buddhists, references to dharma generally means the teachings of the Buddha, commonly known throughout the East as Buddha-Dharma. It includes especially the discourses on the fundamental principles such as the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.

On the 1st day of our 10-day Chomolhari trek we began our walk at the Drukgyel Dzong (2,580 m, 8,465 ft.) on the true right bank of the Paro Chu (Paro River) 15 km (9.3 mi.) northwest of Paro International Airport (PBH). From there we trekked some 17 km (10.6 mi.) north-northwestward along the river to camp at Shama (2,870 m, 9,416 ft.). Our party of sixteen (trek leader, 7 trekkers, 3 guides, 2 cooks and 3 horsemen) required 23 horses to carry our food and gear. This colorful facade on a house near the Drukgyel Dzong caught my eye while we waited for our horses to be loaded before beginning the day's walk. The Wheel of Dharma, which represents the Buddhist Eightfold Path to Enlightenment, is seen below the windows.
My legs and much more if only I was dancing on an Eightfold Path decorated with ribbons off the Devil’s path all around and round and around again over a self generating Möbius landing and launching strip of many careful wonders at Balnuaran of Clava.
This was impossible for me without the help of friends. There was an opportunity to take a brief ‘stroll’ and ambling past some ancient history shutters opened and light danced upon photo sensitive materials. My soul was pleasantly surprised to have these wonders soaking in again and new engagement fulfilling my passion to communicate with people, the same formidable ones that scare me out of my sociable mind also elicit a moment of pure passion in shared expression.

Shooting Star – [Top Left]
The burn up of cosmic grit and dust such specks that may have made us. A very nice happenstance that I would claim credit for as it looks superb, but was unscripted nature showing us that there is something further and also to be wished upon if you care to do so?

Another photo taken on the cental square of town compared with the old photo of this place :) Now the church. But if you look to the right from this place, you would see there the kindregarten from previous shot :)
Holy Mother of consolation Parish Church - it's the biggest church in town.
Matki Bożej Pocieszenia - zbudowany w centrum miasta, w latach 1900 - 1903 z fundacji rodziny Sobańskich i Karola Dittricha. We wnętrzu znajdują się piękne secesyjne witraże przedstawiające kwiaty polskie (słoneczniki, maki, chabry, lilie, malwy i chryzantemy), wykonane w pracowni Franciszka Białkowskiego, prawdopodobnie według projektu Józefa Mehoffera. Wyposażenie kościoła utrzymane jest w stylu gotyckim.

Ablaze on evening's forehead o'er the earth,
And add each night a lustre till afar
An eightfold splendor shine above thy hearth.

“Do not believe in something because it is reported. Do not believe in something because it has been practiced by generations or becomes a tradition or part of a culture. Do not believe in something because a scripture says it is so. Do not believe in something believing a god has inspired it. Do not believe in something a teacher tells you to. Do not believe in something because the authorities say it is so. Do not believe in hearsay, rumor, speculative opinion, public opinion, or mere acceptance to logic and inference alone. Help yourself, accept as completely true only that which you test for yourself and know to be good for yourself and others.”

Erdene Zuu (elevation 1,465 m, 4,806 ft.) is located at the site of Kharkhorum (Karakorum), the capital of the Mongol Empire from 1235-1260 AD. In 1388 the city was destroyed by a Chinese Ming dynasty army and never rebuilt. Founded in 1585, Erdene Zuu is believed to be the oldest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Rubble from the ruins of Kharkhorum was used in its construction. At its height it boasted 62 temples and some 1,000 monks. The monastery was largely destroyed during the 1937-1939 Stalinist purges. Religious activities resumed following the peaceful revolution of 1990. This small temple, known as the Dalai Lama Temple, lies south of the Zuu Temples in the Erdene Zuu complex. The Wheel of Dharma, which represents the Eightfold Path to Enlightenment, is seen above the doorway. The deer on either side represent the Buddha’s first teaching at Deer Park near Varanasi, India. A wall graced with 108 stupas encompasses the site, enclosing an area of 20 ha (49 acres). The monastery is located 1.5 km (0.9 mi.) east of Kharkhorin, the capital of Kharkhorin Sum (Kharkhorin District) in Övörkhangai Province. Erdene Zuu is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site (area 1,220 sq. km, 471 sq. mi.) inscribed in 2004 as the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape. Kharkhorin lies 318 km (198 mi.) west-southwest of Ulaanbaatar.
Yesterday I posted pictures titled, “My legs entering in and much more if only I was dancing on an Eightfold Path decorated with ribbons off the Devil’s path.” Maybe I should have stated that the Devil’s path mentioned is a mathematical curve following equations? After legs entering in yesterday, of course there is the stepping out today.
Let the light be excluded so that the waiting dark is included into the design using stone the bone of the land from taken from the river the veins of the earth so that the airy mind in a sensory confine and the open heavens of the starry soul of the self can be at one and can join those others that seek such one for themselves in a tribe of humanity set to bring about living harmony, balance and community in this and in all worlds.
Our ancient ancestors often over great distance gathered and built in River Stones such stones that were well weathered and river rolled ready for usage. This Footnote in the Main Body of this text continues, “I do try to mention that many site use either only, or predominantly river stone washed and rounded ready to be joined and expertly grounded.

Leh is the capital of the Leh District of Ladakh, India. The city lies on the true right bank of the Indus River in a narrow valley north of the river at an elevation of some 3,530 m (11,581 ft.). The wheel of Dharma is seen here flanked by two deer. The eight spokes of the wheel represent the Buddhist Eightfold Path to Enlightment. The deer on either side represent Buddha's first semon at Deer Park near Varanasi, India.

The Peace Gate at the Bogd Khan Winter Palace in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Bogd Khan (1869-1924) was the third most important Tibetan Buddhist leader, after the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama. Born in Tibet, he lived in Mongolia from 1874 until his death. The Chinese Qing Dynasty ruled Mongolia from 1691 to 1911. In 1911 as the Qing Dynasty collapsed, Mongolia declared independence and formed a government, the Bogd Khanate of Mongolia, led by the Bogd Khan. In 1919 forces of the Republic of China re-established control. In 1921 a joint Mongol-Russian force defeated the Chinese and re-established the Bogd Khanate under the Bogd Khan. The Bogd Khan Winter Palace was constructed between 1893 and 1903 and is now a museum. The Peace Gate was built between 1912 and 1919 to commemorate independence from the Qing Dynasty in 1911. The Wheel of Dharma, which represents the Eightfold Path to Enlightenment, is seen on the rooftops. The deer on either side represent the Buddha’s first teaching at Deer Park near Varanasi, India.

Cacela Velha, Algarve/Portugal
The current Church of Cacela -Velha was built in 1518 on the ruins of the original medieval building, the late thirteenth century , which retains a small side door ogival , facing north . Heavily damaged by the 1755 earthquake , was rebuilt in 1795 .
The main portico , a Renaissance has sculpted in relief busts of St. Peter and St. Paul . The two side pilasters are adorned with gargoyles , axes , pitchforks , heads of angels , dragons , bows and quivers .
Inside, the three naves are separated by stone arches , lancet , supported by columns of 1.70 m high , with bases and capitals eightfold , adorned by strings or hemispheres . The filling stand out from the iron fence decorated with figures at the ends : on top , S. Joseph, right , Madonna , left St. John the Evangelist , and below , St. Mary Magdalene .
The church occupies an enviable position enjoying from the churchyard a broad overview of the Ria Formosa to his feet and extending out of sight to the west .
