"Turm der 300 Meter" - der bekannteste Eisenfachwerkturm der Welt - an iron lattice tower

Construite par Gustave Eiffel et ses collaborateurs pour l’Exposition universelle de Paris de 1889, et initialement nommée « tour de 300 mètres », ce monument est devenu le symbole de la capitale française, et un site touristique de premier plan :

Elle a accueilli son 250 millionième visiteur en 2010.

Im Jahr seiner Eröffnung bestiegen im Rahmen der Weltausstellung 1889 knapp 1,9 Millionen der insgesamt 32,3 Millionen Ausstellungsbesucher auch den Eiffelturm.

Zu Beginn betrug die Höhe des Turms lediglich 307 Meter und war als Blickfang gedacht. Heute nutzt man den Eiffelturm aber auch als Antennenmast, weswegen seine Höhe auf 329.75 Meter vergrössert wurde.

Zunächst nur als "Turm der 300 Meter" geplant,

wurde dieses Denkmal zum Symbol der Hauptstadt Frankreichs, und einer der führenden Touristenattraktion: Einschließlich 2011 haben seit Eröffnung über 260 Millionen das Bauwerk besichtigt und machen es damit zu dem meistbesichtigten der Welt.

Stahl-Fachwerk-Bau

Das Turmfachwerk besteht aus besonderem Stahl, der im Puddelverfahren verarbeitet wurde, was zu seiner Haltbarkeit bis heute beigetragen hat. Zur Zeit der Errichtung war die veraltete Bezeichnung „Eisen“ für den Baustoff Stahl gebräuchlich. Obwohl der Eiffelturm mit seinen vorgefertigten Stahlteilen in einer industriell zu nennenden Bauweise aus Einzelmodulen zusammengesetzt wurde, ist das seiner architektonischen Gestaltung zugrunde liegende Prinzip ein klassisches – das Fachwerk.

Das Gesamtgewicht des Wahrzeichens liegt bei 10.100 Tonnen, wovon allein die Stahlkonstruktion 7.300 Tonnen ausmacht. Die Fläche des Turms umfasst 200.000 Quadratmeter, die etwa alle sieben Jahre mit rund 60 Tonnen Farbe neu angestrichen wird.
