The Eiffel Tower (French: La tour Eiffel, [tuʁ ɛfɛl]) is an iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It was named after the engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Erected in 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair, it was initially criticised by some of France's leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognisable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest structure in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world; 6.98 million people ascended it in 2011. The tower received its 250 millionth visitor in 2010.
I took this photo about a year ago when I was in Paris. I used a crappy analogue camera which costed only a few euros. I totally forgot about that camera untill I found it back a few weeks ago. I accidentally opened the camera because I thought there was no film in it. But I decided to develop the pictures because I was really curious. It caused a strange lightning on the picture, but I quite like it.
The Eiffel Tower sparkles and shimmers on the hour every night. You know, I didn't realize how magnificent this structure really is until I was standing in front of it.
