if I remember rightly, this was shot from the top of the Pompidou Centre. I might be completely wrong, if anyone who knows Paris better can tell me I'd be grateful.

It is the tallest structure in Paris and one of the most recognized structures in the world.[1] Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, 6,719,200 people visited the tower in 2006[2] and more than 200,000,000 since its construction.[3] This makes the tower the most visited paid monument in the world per year.[4] Including the 24 m (79 ft) antenna, the structure is 324 m (1,063 ft) high (since 2000), which is equivalent to about 81 levels in a conventional building.

At the time of its construction in 1887, the tower replaced the Washington Monument as the world's tallest structure, a title it retained until 1930, when New York City's Chrysler Building (319 m — 1,047 ft tall) was completed.[5] The tower is now the fifth-tallest structure in France. The Eiffel Tower is the tallest structure in Paris, with the second-tallest being the Tour Montparnasse (210 m — 689 ft), although that will soon be surpassed by Tour AXA (225.11 m — 738.36 ft).

The magnifique Eiffel Tower at Night

Found an interesting location for photographing the Eiffel Tower in Paris. I would have liked to set up a bit further back but there was a large number of people back there. The best time to be here would be sunrise but it was pouring rain then so I grabbed the chance when I had it.

This was shot on my iPhone 14 Pro Max with a Sandmarc wide angle lens. I also used the ProCamera phone app using the Smart HDR mode. I wish I would have had my Nikon but lugging all that gear around just wasn't practical. But for a phone shot it didn't turn out too bad.

Thanks for viewing my photos. Comments are always welcome.

This was taken in Paris (duh) something like a month ago and even though it isn't precisely from February's second week, well, i wanted to upload something from Europe that isn't my face or snow so here you are.

I knew you were trouble when you walked in...

Got this song stuck to my head. Ggggg.

I can't believe holidays have already gone by. I mean, a minute ago i was in the pool enjoying december with my friends, celebrating the end of the school year and BOOM: it's almost MARCH!

It isn't fair :(

I guess all that's left is to enjoy the last days of summer.

It's getting cold again.

Good night guys!

The Eiffel Tower (French: La Tour Eiffel, [tuʁ ɛfɛl], nickname La dame de fer, the iron lady) is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris[10] and the most-visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair.

The tower stands 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building. During its construction, the Eiffel Tower surpassed the Washington Monument to assume the title of the tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930. However, due to the addition, in 1957, of the antenna atop the Eiffel Tower, it is now taller than the Chrysler Building. Not including broadcast antennas, it is the second-tallest structure in France, after the Millau Viaduct.

The tower has three levels for visitors. Tickets can be purchased to ascend, by stairs or lift, to the first and second levels. The walk from ground level to the first level is over 300 steps, as is the walk from the first to the second level. The third and highest level is accessible only by elevator. Both the first and second levels feature restaurants.

The tower has become the most prominent symbol of both Paris and France, often in the establishing shot of films set in the city.

An Eiffel Tower pendant set on a clear acrylic surface with a textured background, taken for the Flickr Friday theme, "Arches." The pendant is 1.75-inches tall.

Strobist/technical info:

The pendant was placed on a clear sheet of acrylic with an aluminum foil background light painted blue as a backdrop. The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights placed 90° CL/CR two-feet away and 16-inches above the subject. The speedlights were fired in Manual mode @ ¼ power through two Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes. The Blue LED of a Coast TX10 Quad Color flashlight was used to light paint the background over a 1 s exposure.

The SB900's were triggered by three PockerWizard Plus X's.

I just learned that the Eiffel Tower is blue this month because it is France's turn to preside over the Council of the European Union.
