Jumu'atul-Widaa' (meaning Friday of farewell or the orphaned Friday Al-Widaa Juma) is the last Friday in the month of Ramadan before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Jumu'ah comes from the Arabic word for "gathering". Widaa' means "farewell".

Hundreds of people waiting at the Kamlapur Railway Station to queue up for a ticket back home to celebrate the upcoming Eid festival with their family. Some even spend nights there so they can stay ahead of the long queue. Every year people suffer due to some corrupted officials who sell tickets in the black market and inadequate number of trains.
The faithful gather for the annual Eid prayer to celebrate the end of Ramadan. Some 30-40 million people participate in Eid prayers across the country. This particular location hosts the largest gathering of the faithful in one place - sometimes drawing over half a million worshippers in a single prayer session.
A serpent waits to enter the belly of the mechanize beast, convoluted, spawning a new member every second, a serpent made of people; millions of them, homebound.
Eid Ul Fitr is upon us.
Have you been a decent Muslim this month ;) Preaching and teaching only what you yourself embody?
Ha ha, I know you probably haven't. Either way, Eid Mubarak, saints and sinners.
They say, "Home is where heart is (and stomach too)", even if that means standing in line for 6 hours straight and reaching your destination at the middle of the night. I have no real home anymore, so I know, veritably.

Overloaded trains during the Eid holiday. Following the month long Ramadan, people get a three day holiday when many go back to their hometowns. While there are laws in Bangladesh against riding on the rooftops of trains, they are rarely if ever enforced. I was told that most of the people who are on the roofs actually have valid train tickets. There's just not enough room for everybody to ride in the carriages.
This was a new experience- my grandfather couldnt accompany us to this year's eid prayers.
When we returned home, we saw him praying by himself. The last six months have been difficult on him.

Railways prove to be a popular form of transport, but the number of seats available don't do justice to the number of prospective passengers.

You've heard about the power of prayer. But I'll venture that if we measure the power of prayer by the number of people praying all at once, in one place, and for the same cause, then the Muslims win hands down. It's estimated that over 100K people are gathered here for the annual Eid prayer in central Bangladesh to celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadan. On top of the density of people from the air, the tapestry of colorful outfits and prayer mats adds another dimension to the surreal scene.
Hundreds of thousands of Muslims gather at a large field in central Bangladesh for the annual Eid prayer. Probably one of the most intimidating photo shoot I've ever done. It's one thing to shoot a person or a group of people, but its an entirely different matter when thousands of faces are staring back at you, and you're obviously the only non-Muslim there! Shortly after this I caught the eye of a news reporter (being the only foreigner at the event as far as I could tell) and was interviewed on camera and appeared that night on Bangladeshi national TV news!
A ferry in Dhaka crowded with people going back to their home towns during the Eid holiday. The Eid holiday lasts 3 days, and it sees millions of people on the move during this time, many travelling by buses, trains, and ferries.
