Sille is a village near the city of Konya, Turkey. It is an antique city which was established about 6000 years ago. The name "Sille" comes from Silen (Silene) of Greek mithology, or "Silenos." The village is located on the antique Silk Road.

Karataş Mosque

The mosque is named after Karataş, which was once a crowded Muslim quarter. This mosque, which is now closed as there are no people living around it, is the last witness of the existence of a crowded Muslim community that once filled it. Although the date of construction is not known, the date of 1878 (1295 in Islamic calendar), which is located behind the preaching chair, leads to the earlier dating of this structure.

Different shots of fireworks I added together grand finale style .

I had to go up on the roof -next to the water tank where there is 0 safety- to take these, let's just say .. I have a new kind of phobia :D

I had one of the my best photo walks today and the highlight was meeting these three young men who were taking photos of themselves. The man on the left saw my camera and called me over and asked if I wanted to take their photo. Of course I said yes. I was able to send them 5 photos from the session via email. They are celebrating Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. Like so many things this year due to Covid-19 the celebration is mostly being held virtually.

Baibalaa is one of those activities that can be adapted to suit any environment,

ability and timescale. We called Baibalaa in our Maldivian language..Though Baibalaa is primarily an Indian game(KABBADI), not much is known about the origin of this game. There is, however, concrete evidence, that the game is 4,000 year old. It is a team sport, which requires both skill and power, and combines the characteristics of wrestling and rugby. It was originally meant to develop self defence, in addition to responses to attack, and reflexes of counter attack by individuals, and by groups or teams. It is a rather simple and inexpensive game, and neither requires a massive playing area, nor any expensive equipment. This explains the popularity of the game in rural India. Kabaddi is played all over Asia with minor variation.

Eid Mubarak to all of you

Eid ul-Fitr, often abbreviated to Eid, is a three-day Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity," while Fiṭr means "original nature," implying the restoration of one's best human composition. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the thirty days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The first day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month Shawwal.

I know it's the 3rd day of Eid today...still i wanted to wish you all a Happy one...

3eedkum Mubarak !

"Eid means 'a recurring happiness or festivity'. There are two Eids: Eid-al-Fitr, celebrated on 1st of Shawwal following the month of fasting, Ramadan, and Eid-al-Adha, celebrated on 10th of Dul-Hijja, following the course of hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca).

Eid-al-Fitr celebrates the completion of a month of fasting and Eid-al-Adha the completion of hajj, both fasting and pilgrimage being acts of worship undertaken for the sake of God alone.

While the Eids are occasions for joy and happiness, they are certainly not occasions for frivolity, over-eating or the pursuit of pleasure. The joy which we feel on Eid is the spiritual joy of fulfillment - fulfillment of God's command of discipline, piety and collective worship. Each of the Eid days begins with prayer (salat) and is spent in alms-giving, visiting friends and relatives, and exchanging greetings and gifts. The spirit of Eid is the spirit of peace and forgiveness, for at these times one should forget all grudges and ill-feeling toward one's fellow men if he has not already done so. On Eid one makes a fresh start in his relations with others in a brotherly spirit."
