Cleo still likes to play but she would NEVER run after a toy. As she is an energy efficient creature she prefers to play while she is comfortably lying on a cushion and only has to lift the paw to catch the toy. Cleo has always tried to avoid any waste of energy, even 16 years ago when she was a kitten....

Bumblebees are known
as easy, efficient and reliable pollinators.
These are the advantages of bumblebees:
Bumblebees provide maximum insurance for optimal pollination, due to their high number of flower visits and large pollen transfer.
Bumblebee pollination results in higher yields, better shaped fruit, quality products and faster ripening of the fruit.
Bumblebees are reliable workers, they work 7 days a week from sunset to sunrise
Bumblebees work well under bad weather conditions and in protected environments
An efficient bureaucracy is the greatest threat to liberty :-)

The ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) is a medium-sized spotted wild cat that reaches 40–50 cm (16–20 in) at the shoulders and weighs between 7 and 15.5 kg (15 and 34 lb) on average. It is native to the southwestern United States, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Margarita. Carl Linnaeus scientifically described it in 1758. Two subspecies are recognized.
The ocelot is efficient at climbing, leaping and swimming. It prefers areas close to water sources with dense vegetation cover and high prey availability. It preys on small terrestrial mammals, such as armadillos, opossums, and lagomorphs. It is typically active during twilight and at night and tends to be solitary and territorial.
Both sexes become sexually mature at around two years of age and can breed throughout the year; peak mating season varies geographically. After a gestation period of two to three months, the female gives birth to a litter of one to three kittens. They stay with their mother for up to two years, after which they leave to establish their own home ranges.
The ocelot is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List and is threatened by habitat destruction, hunting, and traffic accidents. While its range is very large, various populations are decreasing in many parts of its range. The association of the ocelot with humans dates back to the Aztec and Incan civilizations; it has occasionally been kept as a pet. – Wikipedia

When Mr. Lewis needed a barn for his large livestock herd,he thought "outside the box",and built a more efficient round barn which was on his family farm till the 1990's.At that time, the family decided for it to survive,it needed to be donated to an organization who would maintain it.It ended as a part of the Adams County,IL. fairgrounds along with many other historic subjects-an old one room schoolhouse and an old general store some examples...
The Lewis Barn is on the National Register of Historic Places...

The dragonflies are wonderful. They are very efficient predators, they can intercept prey mid-air, they can move each of their four wings independently from the others, they have near-360-degree vision with their eyes which contain 30,000 facets, each bringing in information about the insect's surroundings. Top of it they're beautiful insects :)

Thank you very much for viewing my photos, I appreciate the faves and comments!
perfect camo.....a very efficient pack animal when it comes to hunting, I've watched two and three coyotes on occasions and it is interesting how they 'work the field' to run game to each other.

I love this kind of architecture and it's really sad to see that this kind of art seems to have been lost in favor of more efficient construction methods.
A mall was opened here not long ago, and it looks like a brick. It's just rectangular and plain. Maybe a mall doesn't need to look that fancy? I don't know, but if it's going to dominate the views in the city center you should maybe think about the looks of the building, since it's also huge.

avrà pensato, a qualche villetta, linda e profumata...

Learning how to skillfully and efficiently handle an as wide as possible range of photo - processing tools is an additional reason that turned me into a "serious" lover of the art of photography ... All advanced digital photo-processing programs and their related plugins form literally a whole new world ready to help you present effectively and successfully whatever is imprisoned into your Micro SD drive via your camera's sensor ..
I don't like modifying the capture's fundamental traits ... I also strongly dislike removing or even adding elements that weren't there in the first place ... But I very much enjoy creating a low light surrounding ambient atmosphere that exhales tranquillity and helps revealing all the effort hidden behind the scene's capture ... I like stressing out the subtle contrast between the light around the frame's main point of interest and its surrounding environment ...
I enjoy giving special attention to every single detail of any image I find worthy enough to be exhibited in front of your eyes ...

Excerpt from news.livingrealty.com/neighbourhood-profile-streetsville/:
Initially unveiled in September of 2014, following a $3.1 million redevelopment and name change, the newly-revitalized Streetsville Village Square – located at the intersection of Main and Queen Streets – is the community’s favourite gathering place, and arguably its biggest draw for visitors and residents alike.
The City of Mississauga’s “Official Opening” for the new square took place on June 6, 2015, and was personally attended by Mayor Bonnie Crombie as well as Ward 11 Councillor George Carlson. Since then, the revitalized square has already hosted a number of seasonal events over the course of its first summer in business.
Indeed, the square’s transformation features a number of impressive upgrades, including a performance stage area, energy efficient lighting, sound systems and accessible features. For low-key gatherings, the space also now includes an abundance of public seating, complete with eye-catching yellow umbrellas atop many of the tables.
Renovations of the square also included upgrading the street surface with attractive brickwork, as well as a refurbishment and relocation of the Streetsville Cenotaph – a treasured local monument and a part of the community’s history since 1926.
Gliding effortlessly into the wind, a mōlī makes a low pass over a beach on the north shore of Oahu. It will turn out to sea and wander for thousands of miles over the Pacific using its remarkable olfactory acuity to locate surface forage at upwelling sites. Expending very little energy on flight, this mōlī, or Laysan albatross, efficiently uses dynamic soaring to skim the water, rising on the wind and descending forward by gravity acceleration. Bones lock into position requiring no muscle to keep the six foot wing span extended.
Rescued in August 2012. The two little guests remained to our house for 1,5 month until they were adopted from a veterinary's family! By the way, it is very difficult to find an adoption for cats, you have to be a very efficient "matchmaker"!
In the meantime, the experienced teacher Zoro undertook their basic education with success...

On the 2nd March I took a flight from Inverness Airport to Belfast Airport. It was a nice compact Loganair aircraft, the flight was not full but busy enough. I had some great views as I travelled, the flight lasted just 45 minutes it was so quick. My departure was on time and I arrived early it was a great way to travel.
A Laysan albatross returns to the breeding colony after months at sea. This one seemed curious as it turns to fly over me. Albatross are among the most energy efficient flyers. Their high aspect ratio wing is most efficient for long distance gliding. Bones lock into position requiring no muscle to keep the six foot wing span extended. At sea it will have an oscillating glide path as it rises on orographic lift off wave faces then gravity accelerates into the wave troughs to glide for thousands of miles across the Pacific. Seemingly nomadic wandering over open ocean is actually guided by its remarkable olfactory acuity enabling location of surface forage at upwelling sites. The aerodynamics of albatross flight are fascinating, but it is the nearly effortless calm beauty and aerial grace that keeps me enviously watching them for hours.
The very first mixed train to run on the ARR in over three decades is highballing north at track speed rolling through the junction at NSS Matanuska (MP 151.4 on the ARR mainline). Three SD70MACs lead a 2300 ft train consisting of 13 coaches (with 120 paying passengers), 7 COFC flats, and 10 loaded tank cars of diesel fuel operating as train 230N, the regular weekly Saturday northbound Aurora passenger train. This definitely isn't the kind of train out of Mixed Train daily that Beebe and Clegg would recognize!
The ARR is exercising an FRA waiver that I spearheaded along with General Road Foreman Bruce Pryke to run mixed trains allowing us to consolidate some traffic and operate as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. The ARR was always an innovator and not afraid to look to the past for solutions to problems in the present....it was a special place to work and I'm honored to have had the chance to lead there for a half dozen years.

It was tiny but very efficient.
You might see slippers by the bed but there was a whole rack of wooden shoes by the door.
Known as the ‘Voice o f Africa’, this eagle throws its head back and gives a loud, haunting cry. With its distinctive white head and tail, it can often be spotted in the wild perching in high branches beside rivers. When it locates a tasty looking fish, it will swoop down to catch it with a backwards swing of its talons. It will also eat small mammals, birds and carrion if they’re available and will often steal fish from other birds and local fishermen, if it gets a chance!
These efficient predators are so skilled that they only need to hunt for about 10 minutes every day, though not every attempt is successful. About one in seven hunts will end in a meal.

Efficient groundcover, it has outgrown its allotted space and is a little invasive, but when these lovely little flowers come out in May I'd rather have too much than not enough...
Griffon vultures have been used as model organisms for the study of soaring and thermoregulation. The energy costs of level flight tend to be high, prompting alternatives to flapping in larger birds. Vultures in particular utilize more efficient flying methods such as soaring. Compared to other birds, which elevate their metabolic rate to upwards of 16 times their basal metabolic rate in flight, soaring griffon vultures expend about 1.43 times their basal metabolic rate in flight. Griffon vultures are also efficient flyers in their ability to return to a resting heart rate after flight within ten minutes.
As large scavengers, griffon vultures have not been observed to seek shelter for thermoregulation. Vultures use their bald heads as a means to thermoregulate in both extreme cold and hot temperatures. Changes in posture can increase bare skin exposure from 7% to 32%. This change allows for the more than doubling of convective heat loss in still air. Griffon vultures have also been found to tolerate increased body temperatures as a response to high ambient temperatures. By allowing their internal body temperature to change independently of their metabolic rate, griffon vultures minimize their loss of water and energy in thermoregulating. One study in particular (Bahat 1995) found that these adaptations have allowed the Griffon vulture to have one of the widest thermal neutral zones of any bird.
It declined markedly throughout the 19th–20th centuries in much of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, mainly due to direct persecution and "bycatch" from the poisoned carcasses set for livestock predators (Snow and Perrins 1998, Ferguson-Lees and Christie 2001, Orta et al. 2015). In some areas a reduction in available food supplies, arising from changes in livestock management practices, also had an impact (Ferguson-Lees and Christie 2001, Orta et al. 2015). It is very highly vulnerable to the effects of potential wind energy development (Strix 2012) and electrocution has been identified as a threat (Global Raptors Information Network 2015). Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used for veterinary purposes pose a threat to this species. One case of suspected poisoning caused by flunixin, an NSAID, was recorded in this species in 2012 in Spain (Zorrilla et al. 2015). Diclofenac, a similar NSAID, has caused severe declines in Gyps vulture species across Asia.
Building a fence across a lake might not be the most efficient way of retaining water, or the smartest use of spare barbed wire and wood... I have to assume the lake wasn't there when the fence went up. Maybe the drainage pattern has changed; maybe there has been more snow and more rainfall in recent years than previously.
That said, I couldn't resist stopping on the way to the bird photo location (same morning as previous shot of road & car). I saw the fence; I braked. There was no traffic. Several ducks swam away. You can see them in this photo, tiny dots with v-shaped wake. Pre-dawn glow began to light up the eastern horizon. The air was cool. I felt unhurried and relaxed; I'm on prairie time now. It differs from regular time - in its timeless quality. I can't explain it any other way.
I've just gotten home and unpacked from another trip to the same location. This time I decided, more or less at the last moment, to take a motel room for the night. That put me within easy reach of my destination, and allowed both an evening and dawn shoot in the same trip. In addition, a grocery run and a slight back strain. Oh, well. We have to accept the consequences of our actions, good and not-so-good. This trip was mostly good. I will catch up with your latest uploads ASAP, but right now a painkiller/muscle relaxant and mid-afternoon nap are calling to me louder than anything else.

"Make in India is an initiative by the Government of India to make and encourage companies to develop, manufacture and assemble products made in India and incentivize dedicated investments into manufacturing. The policy approach was to create a conducive environment for investments, develop a modern and efficient infrastructure, and open up new sectors for foreign capital. "
At the north end of Highway 42 in Door County, Wisconsin, approaching the ferry to Washington Island, the road changes from straight and efficient to curvy and fun. Reportedly it was designed by an artist instead of an engineer, resulting in a beautiful stretch of road captured by many photographers in all seasons of the year. This shot was taken on a misty morning as the fog lifted. It won't be long before these trees are all showing off their fall colors.
